I almost thought characters would get away with trickery and cunning this ep with Davos's elite wheeling and dealing with scrub guards. The whole fermented crab thing was gold.

Of course all that sublety had to be ruined when Tyrion waltzed on out wrong place, wrong time and HAMMER SMASH.

Guess show chose violence over all a looooong time ago >_>

Could have seen Gendry with a hammer later on. Point is, they didn't get away with it based solely on Davos. He's allowed to be the sole smuggling champ once in awhile.

Well Cersei basically said she let it happen.

Oh and Robert's skill with a hammer passed onto Gendry is amazing.

Not that it would have totally solved the problems back at Winterfell and maybe this happened and it was just offscreen but Jon PROBABLY should have sent a raven from Dragonstone or even East watch back to Sansa like "hey soooooooooo should probably update you I'm at East watch now going beyond the Wall and facing some of the Army of the Dead, just thought you'd like to knowwwwwww"

I suppose Euron's fleet is still corralling Casterly Rock?

Tyrion came to life a little this episode. Unfortunately, his scene with Jaime wasn't... very good. But that's just the nature of the show - it's become much more about plot than relationships. It's a dialogue-heavy episode, but the interactions that should feel meaty (in this episode, Jaime-Cersei, Jaime-Tyrion, Jon-Dany) generally pale in comparison to the low-stakes stuff (Davos-Jon, Arya-Ed Sheeran, The Hound-Beric).

I think they tried with Jaime/Tyrion - but it wasn't given enough room to breathe and got down to business too quickly. Cersei/Jaime stuff was better, largely because they had two scenes.

Thoros seems the most expendible and least plot armored.

Then Beric, sadly.

I think the rest are safe. Gendry needs a reunion with Arya before he can die I think.

Jon is safe (...you would think)
Hound had better not die because CLEGANE FUCKING BOWL (I don't care if it's a stupid meme, I want it)
Tormund might die (please god no Tormund is one of my favourites)
Berric might (esp if Thoros does, he won't be able to revive)
Davos ;_;
Gendry would be strange to bring back and kill, but then they might do it to actually give a named character a death
Jorah seems pretty vulnerable too (I don't like how he was with Dany for like one scene here. This season really should have been the usual 10 If I'm being honest.)

I think the Lightning Lord might meet his seven-time maker next episode. Dude looks way too much like Obi-Wan Kenobi not to die!

Thoros and Tormund seem to be expendable characters. Jorah is a massive showrunner/fan-favorite so I actually think he survives. Gendry was literally just brought back; a death from him has no emotional impact to me, yet he's too major a character to be killed redshirt-style like Thoros.

Don't really see Jon dying here. And The Hound needs to survive til Cleganebowl.

They were seven against three hundred thousand.

Yeah when we saw the group of all the best characters go beyond the wall it was like "oh so they're going to start killing good characters now, how rude". Hound>Tormund>>Jon>>>>>Jorah>Finally Finished Rowing Gendry>Beric>Thoros.

Jon isn't dying, Hound isn't dying, Jorah most likely isn't dying. Probably not Gendry either since they just brought him back. Any of the others are pretty much fair game though.

Also, we were worried about Sansa doing something stupid this whole time, but what if it's Arya? WHAT IF IT'S ARYA?

I mean the note Arya found was the one Sansa send when she was coerced by Cersei in season 1. You think Arya of all people would be smart enough to understand that was written under duress and Sansa isn't some long Lannister con.

But yeah she does dumb things sometimes so who knows!

Beric is going to be a fan favorite by the end of next episode. His sword lighting in the trailer is just too hype.

He might also be dead, but damn, still. I'm so excited.

I'm wondering if Cersei is really pregnant. What if she's lying because she knows it will keep Jaime on her side? And I was SO scared when she asked him if he wanted to punish Bronn. I was like "... no YOU DIDN'T!" Good thing she didn't.

I don't know if I'm happy or mad at the show for being self-aware enough to do the "thought you'd still be rowing" line.

Kinda mad Dickon died. Mad at Sam for being one second away from hearing that his buddy Jon was crown prince.

And what was the fucking point of Jorah's greyscale plotline? Did they just think it made no sense for him to be by Dany's side sailing to Westeros? Did they want him to be used as a plot device for Sam to earn respect from the Maesters? Sam just left, sooooo...

And we had the perfect moment for Jorah to say "I was cured by a man named Samwell Tarly" then Jon could've been like "oh, he's my bro", then Dany could chime in with "oh I just fried his family alive". They just completely avoided that awkward issue and I feel cheated.

Did enough happen in the first episode to warrant it not being the de facto worst though?

I still way enjoyed episode 3, and think that we still have to wait and see if half the stuff that happened this episode is worth anything, but things happened. Things developed.

Though I AM mad that Bronn and Jaime weren't captured.
