So in your guys' opinions, is it possible to have been qualified and make mistakes that make you no longer qualified?

Or at the very least, less qualified?

And conveniently, everyone skipped over the part where I pointed out what Hillary said about Obama <_<

Because that's moving the goalposts a bit.

It's not.

Hillary's comments were "Bernie hit me too hard", and I'm arguing she hit Obama harder and he still won.

Being qualified is about having the necessary experience/knowledge/ability to understand the problems that you'll be dealing with in the job. Making mistakes wouldn't suddenly make you unqualified (though it may disqualify you, as Rock was saying). I'd say someone had become unqualified if they had a declining mental state or something and no longer could deal with the requirements of the job.

I'm not familiar with the Farrakhan stuff (though everything I can find through google on the subject is on garbage-tier sites); I'd need to know more context. Another important difference between the 2008 and 2016 primaries, though, is that the former was neck and neck the whole time through whereas Bernie was effectively eliminated by Super Tuesday (or the NY primary if you want to be really generous).

Literally everyone cared about this.

Bernie cared about this.

Many of his supporters cared about this.

Like half of the GOP brought this up in the primary and cared about this.

I mean to be clear I can't see myself ever seriously supporting an 18-year-old candidate, but I still don't see why the right to do so shouldn't exist

I COULD see myself supporting a 33-year-old candidate, so the 35 rule is dumb

(the US-born thing is the bigger issue for me and probably the more controversial one)

I don't know, telling a career civil servant who's held several high level positions in government she's not qualified to be president is pretty damn personal.

Gonna agree with this. Even if you defend the wording, the intent was there to discredit the most qualified person.

Donald had the better attack -- "she has experience, but it's bad experience." She did things I disagreed with, but she has the experience of doing those things and that goes a long way toward qualifying.

And lord, I can't inagine an eighteen year old President. Politics would become the NBA draft in some silly ways...though then, I bet you could get younger voters more engaged at an earlier age too if you had sone younger people running.

I don't wanna walk into that trap though -- might be okay lowering the age of people running for other political positions, but leave the President's age limit alone. Thee are other more important qualifiers to be adjusted there.

Ah, here's an idea. There is already a minimum age limit that's almost twice the legal age of an adult. Why can't you cap it too? Nobody who turns 70 by the end of their term can be President.

Because then 2016 gets Ted Cruz VS Martin O'Malley.

Actually one of the things that Hillary's been sounding the alarm on in her recent interviews is the fact that we're not that many states away from calling for a Constitutional Convention, something which would be incredibly dangerous and could very well completely change our Constitution as we know it.

As far as the Hatch Amendment (allowing naturalized citizens to run for president) goes I think the original thinking was to avoid the situation of a President under the sway of another nation, but it seems like that might be able to happen even with an American president, sooooo....

Yeah, pretty much. What it comes down to is that having been born in another country doesn't necessarily constitute a conflict of interest or suggest that they're compromised in some way - and US-born citizens like Trump can still absolutely collude with foreign powers anyway, so we should be able to decide for ourselves on this one. There are tons of foreign-born US citizens who I would trust far more than Trump.

In particular I find it obnoxious that people can't be president even if they've been here since they were children. Also let's knock off this shit about being concerned over whether a dude was born in Canada or not, who even fucking cares.

Fox news mobile got a redesign and it seems to have gone even further anti-left.

Top 4 headlines are Hillarys benghazi and email stories. 1 is a judge wearing a maga getting suspended. 1 is a teacher comparing maga slogan to a swastila getting a slap on the wrist. Another is antifa.

There isn't a single story on the main page not anti-left right now. It is wild.

Democrats in this topic: "Bernie Sanders attacks were too personal and and the fight dragged on too long. This caused a divide in democrats that couldn't be healed after the primary. It is really important we let Hillary Clinton be in the spot light about this, and blame her loss on these things. It's terrible if Bernie drags something on to long to hurt the party, but it's really important that Hillary gets to increase the divide within our party too."
