To be fair the Xenomorph SHOULD probably be a 3. It's died to basic gunners before in the AvPs IIRC.

Pure Support

*whirrrrrrrrr* (Trigger) -- Whenever an opposing merc's ability fails, they will become fearful with a heightened sense of dread for the week's battle. The paranoia and fears grows more intense with every subsequent failure.

THWACK! (Trigger) -- Every week, Lil' Slugger will begin the match violently clubbing an opposing merc affected by *whirrrrrrrr* in the head with a golden bat. If more than one merc is affected this way, one is chosen randomly.

Ability Upgrade:

THWACK! will now injure the merc it hits if the opposing team loses that week.

New Ability:

RAAAAAAEEEEEYAAAAA (Start of Battle; Recharge 3) -- Just like in the opening to his show, Lil' Slugger's presence brings such ruin that the only thing anyone can do is laugh. Every four weeks, anyone whose mind has been affected by abilities will be maniacally laughing at the top of their lungs for the first minute of the battle, to the detriment of anything else they're trying to do.

It was a plot point in the first movies (and Isolation later picked up on it) that small arms do nothing to a Xenomorph, you have to get up to those pulse weapons the Marines were rocking in Aliens to do them harm. If AvP changed this then AvP is dumb

I went througj the whole list of who the 300 beat and some are surprising. It can relatively take out any lone gunman (besides maybe rambo depending on his armament). A lot of the situations are terrain specific.

300 Apes on Horses with Machine Guns would be cool.

Make Your Wishes (Pre-Battle) - Never fear, the Djinn is here to grant an opposing merc their every wish! Every three weeks, a preselected enemy merc will gain a boon, as randomly follows. Unfortunately Nate is kind of a dick when it comes to these things, but never tell them the bad part...

20% - The merc moves two times their normal speed. That merc will also be completely unable to stop their movement once they're going.

20% - The merc will slowly regenerate from any wounds inflicted. They will also be suffering from late stage cancer. If this ability strikes Deadpool, treat his existing cancer as going out of remission.

20% - The merc will revive once upon death! The merc will revive as a shambling, mindless zombie.

20% - The merc inherits great wealth. They will double their upkeep that day, including for tier purposes.

20% - The merc wishes to be AN ALL POWERFUL GENIE! The chosen merc will be replaced by Jafar that day (eligible for any tier). He will be under the effects of his own Itty Bitty Living Space ability. Demarest's owner may choose whether to use the upgraded version of it or not.

Upgrade

Ability Upgrade - Wishes may be rerolled once at its owner's behest.

New Ability

Three Wishes (Trigger) - Of course Demarest's long con is to get some chump to make three wishes overall, then he can unleash the Apocalypse. In Mercs terms that means use Armstrong's Shell ability as soon as...what do you mean no one wants to go through that again? Sigh, fine. If during the course of Mercs the same character is hit three times by Make Your Wishes, that merc may make a terrible choice. Their team will either suffer Jackass Genie Apocalypse and automatically lose that week, or they may injure themselves for an amount of weeks equal to their upkeep in a heroic effort to stop it. Nate is a fair and just douchebag.

The counter will reset when the choice is made.

Twilight Sparkle (My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Heroic Female Beast
5/week

Twilight Sparkle is as seen in MLP: FiM in her Alicorn (winged unicorn) form. She has access to all her standard magic but none of the temporary power ups (such as the Princesses' powers or Chest of Harmony).

Abilities
Element of Magic (Passive) - The potency of magic powers of Twilight Sparkle's team is doubled (not including her own). This doesn't affect magical artifacts that have their powers independent of the holder/user.

Cutie Mark Mishap (Start of Battle) - Once every three weeks, Twilight may cast an unfinished Cutie Mark spell on the enemy team, swapping their abilities randomly so that no enemy combatant have their own ability set for the week. Cooldown count is not affected. If the ability requires certain physical anatomy, it can be activated using the closest analogy possible (e.g. using arms as substitute for tentacles).

Upgrades

New Ability:
Friendship is Magic - Once every four weeks, Twilight Sparkle may gather round her team and with the power of friendship they can blast a friendship beam to an enemy combatant. If the enemy combatant is of evil alignment, they will be turned into a stone statue. Otherwise, they will have a change of heart and fight alongside Twilight's team for the week. This ability will fail if even one of her team's combatants is .

Terrain
Castle of Friendship - A large castle located in Ponyville as depicted in MLP: FiM. Access outside the castle is forbidden.

Captain Trips (Pre-Battle) - Every three weeks, Flagg may display the least of his dickery by infecting a pre-selected enemy merc with a nasty cold. This cold will steadily develop into coughing fits over the next ten minutes, eventually topping out at choking on their own phlegm (this will not necessarily prove fatal, although it could be). The illness is not contagious, fortunately enough.

Upgrade

New Ability

The Stand (Peacetime) - Every four weeks, Randall Flagg may display extreme dickery by dividing each match that week into strictly Good versus Evil. Immediately after all matches in Wartime are declared, one team from each match will randomly be declared Good, the other Evil. The Good team will have all of their Villainous mercs shifted to the Evil team. The Evil team will have all of their Heroic mercs shifted to the Good team. All Neutral mercs will be shifted to the team with less overall mercs at the conclusion of the Good/Evil swap. Also just because Flagg enjoys chaos, any and all abilities may be used freely that day by any team without incurring any charge, regardless of whether they were currently on recharge.

My (tweaked) suggestion:

Robbie Rotten (Lazy Town)
Villainous Male Human
1/week

Robbie Rotten as he appears in Lazy Town. He arrives equipped with several devious traps including banana peels, nets, and tools to dig pitfall traps.


Master of Disguise (Passive): As a villain number one, Robbie knows there's no more effective tool for success than wearing a disguise. He may arrive to battle disguised as any humanoid character he desires, without any knowledge, weapons or abilities that character may possess. Neither his allies nor enemies will be aware of his trickery until he reveals himself.

You Are a Pirate! (Peacetime): Once every week, a random enemy merc from the chosen team will go on an adventure with Robbie to find a buried treasure! Unfortunately, the expedition doesn't go exactly as planned. The next time the chosen merc is rostered, he will arrive to battle 30 seconds late with a bad case of scurvy.


New Abilities:

We Are Number One: Robbie Rotten is accompanied by Bobby, Tobby, and Flobby. The group counts as a single merc for the purposes of abilities, including Master of Disguise.


Character Upgrade:

Villain Number One (Start of Battle): Once every three weeks, a random Heroic enemy merc will be targeted by Robbie to be his prize. They will start the battle trapped inside an unbreakable net for 30 seconds, able only to slowly wriggle across the terrain, defenseless. Furthermore, a poisoned apple will be placed next to the net, available for any (including the target) to eat. If a mercenary eats the apple, they will be KO'd.


Terrain

Lazy Town - A small, idyllic town with homes, parks, and a city hall. No residents will be present during the match. Robbie's secret base is inaccessible.

Every week Quicksilver rolls Fox or Marvel. If he rolls Marvel, Quicksilver will be as shown in Age of Ultron ansd will at some point in the fight die to gunfire. (If neither team has a merc who has guns, Quicksilver will no longer be guarranteed to die to the gunfire at some point)

If he rolls Fox, Quicksilver will be as shown in Days of Future Past but in fact be a MUTANT (changing him from Human to Beast as far as abilities are concerned)

It's basically just auto-possession protection with more words

I want him to default to being as in X-Men (largely because we get more evidence of what he can do and more of his personality fleshed out) but definitely feel like his appearance in Age of Ultron should be part of it

50% death during the fight. Not at the beginning of the fight. Hell, in Age of Ultron he doesn't die until the very end of the fight.

Could even say Quicksilver cannot be killed by bullets from either team in the 1st minute of the fight but is guarranteed to die to a bullet from either teams guns (if anyone has anyone with one rostered) at some point after a minute. (He is still able to die at any time prior by any other means than bullets).

Time in a Bottle (Start of Battle) - Once every 4 weeks, Quicksilver will sense any incoming danger faster than anyone else on his team. When the match is about to start, Quicksilver will have 3 seconds of realtime just as all start of battles are beginning. He may use these 3 seconds to do whatever he sees fit, including interacting with start of battle abilities as they are happening, even if they would normally be uninterruptible. However, he may not injure any enemy mercs during this time.

Copyright Wars (Pre-Battle) - As the only remaining connection between Marvel Studious and 20th Century Fox, Quicksilver will step in to make a deal between owners. Quicksilver will step down from his X-Men position to take up a spot in the MCU (aka the enemy team), but in return, he will take a merc of his choice for his original team. This will count as a 2-way possession.

However, when Quicksilver switches teams, he will have to ditch his mutant gene (for copyright reasons, of course) and will instead appear as the MCU version of Quicksilver. This ability will go on 4 weeks of cooldown.

Pietro Maximoff aka Quicksilver is as he appears in The Avegers: Age of Ultron. 30 seconds into the match, he will be hit by a stray attack from the enemy team and killed instantly.

Homer Simpson is as he appears in The Simpsons, a fat man with a good resistance to physical pummeling and abnormally good luck.

Doh! (Passive) - If any match Homer participates in takes place on his terrain of Springfield Nuclear Power Plant, when the teams first meet, an alert will sound informing everyone that the terrain will detonate in 15 minutes and KO everyone in it as Homer isn't manning his post. Doh! The match will be considered a draw if voters decide no one wins in 15 minutes from that point.

Born Lucky (Trigger): As Frank Grimes once pointed out, there is no valid reason Homer Simpson shouldn't have died a long time ago except for whatever reason luck seems to favor him. Any abilities directed Homer will have a 50% chance of sailing right over his head, doing nothing to him and going on recharge. If Born Lucky is successful, these abilities will then have a 10% chance of bouncing back and hitting the person who used it. There is no limit as to how many times Homer can trigger this, he's just that stupidly lucky.

New Abilities:

Stupid Sexy Flanders (Pre-Battle) - Every other week, Homer may point out to a preselected opponent what they already knew and wouldn't acknowledge, that a preselected merc on Homer's team of the same gender is incredibly hot. They will spend the battle visualizing this merc in distractingly sexy poses to the detriment of their concentration.

Terrain

Springfield Nuclear Power Plant - The power plant as seen in the Simpsons. After the teams first meet, an alarm will inform everyone that they have 15 minutes before the plant explodes as Homer isn't manning his post. Doh! Consider the match a draw if no one wins before the explosion.

Legolas (Lord of the Rings)
Heroic Male Superhuman
3/week

Legolas is as he appears in the Lord of the Rings film trilogy. He has his Galadhrim bow, a quiver of arrows, his Rorhirric sword and his dual knives.

Gimli is as he appears in the Lord of the Rings film trilogy carrying his double bladed axe and a pair of throwing axes.

Customization: Every week, Legolas may ride into battle on Arod the horse.

Gimli (Start of Battle) - Every three weeks, Legolas may bring his buddy Gimli in as an assist.

Orc Slaying Contest (Pre-Battle) - One of the many feats of Legolas was dropping 42 orcs in quick succession, yet he still managed to lose to a very short bearded man who got 43. There aren't any orcs here, but every four weeks Legolas may have an even/odd flip determined by seconds roll, even considered a hit, odd considered a miss. For every Even hit, give Legolas a counter, keep flipping until he gets a Miss. Counters will then be spent to KO the lowest upkeep enemy merc they can match, proceeding until the counters can no longer match the upkeep of killable mercs. Tied upkeep/KOs will be randomly determined.

Upgrades

Ability Upgrade

At his owner's discretion, Gimli may join in on the Orc Slaying Contest at its declaration. After Legolas finishes killing people, roll the same game for Gimli. However if Gimli manages to KO more people than Legolas, Legolas will stray from his usual graceful losing and stomp off (consider him KOed and Injured for the following week).

Terrain

Mirkwood - A dense and confusing forest, fortunately free of spiders. It does have a river that can cause bad things to happen if someone goes swimming. No one may leave the forest.
