Two years would be a fairly small gap for a new mainline game, though I wouldn't be surprised if they had more of this one planned than they have in a while (I assume AJ's reception led to them rejiggering their plans quite a bit. Same with DD's success).

Well, two years between games has been done before, so it could be a new game. Also, fiscal year 2018 does roll into 2019 so it could end up being an early 2019 release, which would be closer to 3 years.

I feel like trying to pretend the games take place in America is what prevented us from getting the meiji era games (that and AAI sales probably)

The localization is great otherwise, but maybe they could have gone with a semi-fictitious location? The whole Kurain stuff is always so japanese that it takes me out a bit anyway that I'm supposed to believe it's not japan.

Eh, DGS didn't even sell well in Japan by the series' standards. If they were concerned about sales, it was probably smart from a business standpoint not to bring those two over. I don't think the whole localization thing had anything to do with it. DGS is set 100+ years before the main series, so they could do whatever they want with it in terms of localizing it. Most of the cases in both games take place in England anyway. I still don't really get why we never got AAI2 though other than it came at the end of the DS's lifespan, which doesn't matter as much when the 3DS is backward compatible.

I know the whole Japanifornia thing is a meme at this point, but it doesn't really bother me at all.

yeah I doubt there's much of anything they could've done to make that a good case

I don't think the localization was the problem

There's been an AA game every year since 2011 except for 2014, so having a new title next year wouldn't be a surprise.

As for localization: You have to change a lot in DGS1 for Wright's ancestor not to be Japanese, and I'm not sure if you could make it work. DGS2 could pull it off for what it's worth, though I wouldn't expect them to bring over the second game and not the first.

Yeah, but there's no reason his great-great-grandfather can't be Japanese, is there? I have a good friend who is third generation Japanese-American (although only a quarter Japanese technically at this point) and she has a fully "American" name, so it'd be doable for Phoenix's name to become Phoenix Wright within a few generations.

Haha, that was a joke. Would've been funny if it had been about steak cooking or something, and then the twist at the end is that it's actually pork.

All right, the fight against the evil troll scientist's team in Yu Yu Hakusho was pretty good. Those last two episodes were definitely up there in terms of favorite episodes so far, so it's on the upswing now, at least! Naturally, Yusuke's team doesn't get a break before their next match, so we'll be jumping straight into that one next time!

Anyway, in Hyouka, everyone's struggling under the pressures of the cultural festival, although that means different things for each character. It reminds me a lot of the Sigh arc in Haruhi, where there's this obvious atmosphere of discomfort that everyone except for Haruhi herself can sense.

In Hyouka, the cultural festival arc comes to an end. It's kind of neat viewing it knowing who the culprit is beforehand because you can get little hints that it's him if you pay attention. There's also a lot of talk about failed expectations in the final episode from a bunch of different characters, almost like it's a buzzword here. I talked before about the burden of expectation from Hotaro's point of view when he's the one of whom things are expected, but in this case, it's the pain that comes from expectations when you're the one expecting of someone else and it doesn't happen. It's an interesting contrast.

Yeah, I beat it. Best Zelda!

Also, the only Koopa race I dislike is the Wooded Kingdom one, which I've already mentioned in this topic. I didn't find the bouncing races to be all that bad. I won all of them pretty easily. I think the Secret Race Rank S took me a couple of tries, but that's it.
