Because the FLUDD-less sections were designed to be pure platforming that could take place in any Mario game. The cap-less sections in Odyssey are essentially sections that were meant to take place in Odyssey except without the benefit of the thing that makes the game unique.

In Yu Yu Hakusho, Yusuke has spent the better part of the last three episodes doing his best Marlon Rimes impression. Hiei needs an episode and a half to win a multi-phase boss fight. Kurama finds a boy with a fishing rod with the ability to make people regress in age...except it kinda backfires because now Kurama has reverted back to his pre-human form as the legendary bandit fox. Also, I can't quite put my finger on it, but I love the way that Koenma says "Yu Yu Hakusho" in the episode previews.

I don't know what shounen means but the only animes I've seen that you haven't are Knights of Sidonia and DeathNote so I'm guessing I'm no help anyway.

I've actually been meaning to pick a random one from your first post ranking and watch it. Your Lie in April is the only one easily available on Netflix, maybe I should finally get on that (or at least look up what it's about)

(If you have a kneejerk reaction to the premise as I did, I will say it's nothing like what that might make you think.) However I get the impression you might be more in the mood for a comedy right now, so if I'm right about that you may want to go with something else either way.

Playing certain visual novels has taught me I can tolerate almost anything if it's written well. Honestly, what holds me back from watching more anime is the effort of finding optimal translations. I almost watched something called Little Witch Academia on a whim but a Google search revealed that the Netflix translation was no good and suddenly I lost all desire to see it

Eh, no sub is going to be perfect. I mostly stick with dubs anyway, so I can't really help you there. If you're looking for a recommendation, obviously the stuff in my top tier would be my most highly recommended just from a personal standpoint. If you had an idea of something specifically you're looking for, I could help you out a bit more.

Well the show I linked to was Spice and Wolf. I don't really know how to effectively go about selling someone on the show though, so uh just trust me it's good >.>

It's got great chemistry between the male and female leads (I'd argue comparable to something like SNAFU), and also it does atmosphere really well.

I have also heard very good things about the dub, though I've only seen the subbed version myself.

but it does have J. Michael Tatum, Brina Palencia, and Leah Clark in it, so that's a high quality set of VAs

Nah, I don't want to bug you too much. I need to watch a few more random ones before I can even know what I should be looking for anyway. Right now my only prerequisite is that they aren't based on a VN because in that case I'd rather play the VN. I remember that excluding a few in your top tier like Kanon and Clannad

Well, I watched eleven episodes of Your Lie in April (so, halfway through). It's not a Leon favorite so I won't post a lot of thoughts like I did earlier this year with Haruhi but a post or two should be fine.

I know almost nothing about music and never experienced any traumatic setbacks like the main character, but the themes it explores still feel pretty universal for artists of any kind. The drive to express oneself and the inevitable doubt that comes with it are both resonating with me so I'm enjoying it a lot. It has gotten melodramatic at times but I think it works really well to reflect those emotions. The characters have grown on me too. Still, I'm catching a lot of obvious tragic foreshadowing so here's hoping for a happy ending despite all that, I guess >_>

At this pace I'll probably finish it tomorrow.

I actually didn't get to the Dark Side Cap-less sections when I made those posts! God, those were infuriating for just that reason. That Piranha moon was horrible.

I also like a lot of the characters, especially Tsubaki and Kaori. I know one of them has to lose in this love square and I'm not sure who I want that to be

She's been great so far! Tsubaki just didn't know what she wanted until it might be too late, and I can sympathize with that causing some jealousy. She's still been really supportive about Kousei's music. Plus lots of funny moments have come from her.

Granted, I think I still prefer Kaori but the anime is kind of designed to cause that

You can sympathize with her not realizing what she wanted until it was too late, but I can't sympathize with how she reacts as a result, although I'm pretty sure you haven't seen the worst of it yet. My main issue with YLIA is that most of the important characters make it hard for you to like them sometimes. My two favorite characters ended up being pretty minor.
