S2 of OPM would be my nost feared anime if not for Titan S3.

Both of those are gonna cause waves of disappointment, at least by my gamble.

Shame, because the actual CONTENT of OPM S2 would be amazing, unlike Titan S3 which is just doomed. And hell, maybe it'll actually be fine! Gonna be a lot of people bitching about how it looks worse, though.

I dont think they ever really said why officially. At least I dont recall seeing a real reason posted. I heard supposedly some of the staff were too busy working on other upcoming projects that were original or sequels that made more money than OPM made for Madhouse.

Madhouse doesn't make sequels.

That is a lie. They love doing sequels to josei sports anime.

Now that this season's shows are all ending one after another, I'm finally taking a serious look at next season and starting to get hyped. I hope more streaming/licensing deals get announced soon so I don't get excited for something that winds up on Hidive or in Netflix jail (that Pandora anime almost caught me when I saw it started in three days but nope, I assume it'll be delayed by Netflix)

Most of the time waiting doesn't bother me because I prefer to wait for a show to finish and binge the whole thing because I'm bad at watching weekly. The only time I really watch weekly is when I'm super hype. Like for JoJo, when they were airing it. And the upcoming Magical Girl Ore.

So waiting on Netflix or wherever is no big deal.

Can't agree myself. If I'm not watching a show while it's airing it's EXTREMELY difficult to make myself watch it. There are a couple shows this season I'm behind on and once the season's over....might ever get back to them.

Hell, Ancient Magus Bride was one of my favorite shows from the last 2 seasons and I'm on episode, like...16? No idea if I'll even get to it this year.

Also annoyed by the descriptions of the two main characters of that show. The super genius scientist and his little sister whose only purpose in life is to support him.

Yeah, I'm like the exact opposite brother. I'll watch like the first episode of it then forget all about it by the next airing. By the time I remember I wanted to watch it, the shows almost done airing. With a binge, I can sit down and enjoy the whole thing, no worries about forgetting anything it's all fresh in my mind, no worries about cliffhangers or anything like that, no worries about waiting on the next episode. Just no worries in general.

Most of the shows I've started and never finished were because I started while they were airing and never got around to watching the rest. Meanwhile I pick something up that's done and fly through it.

I used to be super anti watching weekly for anything now I'm just super picky about what I watch weekly

Today I watched The Devil is a Part-Timer. It was pretty good but I would've preferred it if it stuck to one genre. The slice-of-life comedic moments were usually great but then it would throw me off with a serious battle section, only to then bounce back again to comedy right after. I didn't feel like the two moods fit together very well and a few of the serious sections near the end were a bit uncomfortable. Still, the characters were fun so I enjoyed it well enough. Gabriel Dropout was a far better angel/devil anime, though!

The second arc not being that good was the biggest flaw of the series to me, along with the exceedingly slow pacing.

Finished School Babysitters. Show had some great cute moments. I think it was pretty much always good when focusing on the children. Unfortunately, the older characters weren't quite as consistent. Ryuichi was good, and the chairwoman and butler were good, but the rest of the cast had issues. Kamitani's constant violence wasn't ever really funny. Usaida was basically always terrible. Some of the guys episodes focused around weren't that great, though some of them were solid (Midori's dad was good times). The moms and Inomata were all quite good, but felt like they didn't get enough screentime - Inomata especially seemed like she should've been a main character, but just...wasn't, for whatever reason. But yeah, the show was at its best when it was cute kids doing cute things.

South Pole Girls beated

That was a great ending. Didn't tear up but still quite powerful.

Overall this was a solid show and probably my biggest surprise of the season considering I didn't think the premise sounded interesting. There really wasn't any point in the anime where I felt it was bad, everything was just consistently good to great. The only thing I didn't like was the bad insert songs they threw in for emotional scenes.

Glad they at least ended with the amazing ED. It's quite rare to get shows with four all star seiyuu these days and I'm glad it was this one. Iguchi Yuka's voice is so overpowering in the ED.

I'll probably do actual write-ups for everything I watched on Friday once every show except Violet Evergarden has ended (lol Marchen Madchen getting episodes 11 and 12 cancelled apparently) but I thought A Place Further than the Universe was somewhere between low 9/10 and high 8/10. Not my favorite of the season but it always left me with a sense of striving to live life to the fullest and I enjoyed it for that. It nailed the emotional moments where it really counted too.

The only thing holding it back for me is that the setting of Antarctica felt superfluous, almost like the exact same show could've happened on a journey to anywhere. I guess that's kind of the thematic point but if you're in Antarctica I want to see more of the wonders of Antarctica. Even when they went somewhere neat the focus was usually on friendship or whatever. That's a petty personal preference though, I acknowledge that the anime was still solid.

I hate haircuts in animanga pretty much always. Only good one I can remember is Tsubasa's amazing tiger hair in Monogatari. Practical ones where a girl cuts her hair to become a warrior are alright too I guess. One particularly egregious one I remember is from Assassination Classroom. No one wanted the development to go in that direction ;_;

Anyway, finished A Place Further than the Universe for real (I hadn't watched the last episode when I commented earlier...). Very good show! Pretty much every single aspect of this show was high quality. All four of the main girls were very good (I can't even really rank them since they all very good, though Mari would likely be last). The side cast was nice too - even minor characters like Mari's mom could make a good impact. That one insert song (ooki na yuuuuume) was extremely effective every time they used it. The show had excellent progression and pacing, with each episode having its own climaxes and pushing things forward as well. Animation and direction were very nice too.

And yet...it's not one of my favorite shows. I think I'd rank it third for the season so far (which is good, since there are several shows I liked this season). It had some cool emotional climaxes, but I don't think they really made me cry. The cast is all very good, but I don't love any of them. Just didn't quite click I guess. Maybe I would've enjoyed it more watching it all at once. Stupid me for assuming it's SoL, I suppose :p.

Dude, they literally said this in the show. Kimari was like I dunno if I would've liked Antarctica if I wasn't with all of you and talked about how going on a journey was what mattered to her, not where it was to. I think the setting was still used in an interesting way though.

Yeah this was definitely intentional, as I mentioned,I it just wasn't my preference so I couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed. Antarctica is a cool place, I was excited for them to get there, and then once they did almost nothing changed. They were just in Antarctica instead of on a boat or in Australia.

My problem with anime long hair is so much of it is the same boring straight style. Then theres the bad looking stuff like 4ft long twintails, ridiculously crazy hair that makes no sense and giant braids ugh.

another is when they slowly pan from the feet to the rest of the body

Eroimango and Oreimo has plenty of the second example

but I find often times the people they hire to draw feet in anime are pretty bad

Shaft is hit or miss, Silver Link is godlike, A-1 and JC staff are usually ok, PA works is ok too
