Wouldn't be surprised if we get a Monster Hunter playable announced around the time the Switch game drops later this month.

I think the stage / boss are going to be in the story mode that takes up the blurry menu slot

maybe a reason there are so few new stages is their environmental artists were busy making story mode levels

My only comments are that I think the stage morph thing could be AMAZING but if you are able to put it on shuffle and have ALL of the stages included

I think some of that is presentation style. Nintendo is very good at creating sudden anticipation in how they craft these Smash trailers.

I think people are vastly underestimating the amount of time including echo fighters can be. I'm not saying they're equal to a brand new fighter, but people are acting like they can just slap a new model on an existing character and call it a day. All you have to do is look at fan mods for Smash games to see how janky they look when the time isn't put into the process. These echo fighter have unique animations, voices and there are probably tons of minor glitches that have to be worked on before they can be shown in a released state.

Sakurai stated a while back that when making Melee, all of the 7-8 clone characters added was equal to the development cost of one new character. So if you want to get math-y, then a clone takes 1/7 of the dev time of a normal character. Considering guys like Chrom already have a model made, it's going to be even less than that.

Yeah I think the bottleneck for creating characters doesn't come from the actual implementation but more from the design. Being able to just copy/paste moves from other characters has got to save a LOT of time. Modeling can't take very long considering how many trophies they put into these games and animation is mostly borrowed from other characters too.

Sakurai himself said they get like, 7+ clones/echoes done in the time it takes to make one normal character, so people aren't basing this off of nothing

Fun useless fact of the day - Before today, there was only one non-Japanese made character in Smash Bros history - Diddy (British). There are now three - K. Rool (also British) and Dark Samus (American).

It's because Dr. Mario has a different down-B and his moves have slightly different properties in regards to speed and damage, whereas Lucina's differences are smaller. I got the impression that Simon and Richter are identical.

yeah that's odd... it made sense when we thought Echos had to have every move the original has, but now with Chrom I don't know what the line is

Maybe Doc doesn't count because his down B is technically not echoed for anyone else in the way Chrom's up B is?

I think it is because he existed before they called them echoes but then again Lucina and Dark Pit are called echos so hell if I know.

I also want to think cause his move is different but Chrom's up is different.
