At this point my prediction for the remainder is:

Isaac (ballot)
Rex (Sakurai loves Xenoblade)
Decidueye (duh)
Shadow the Hedgehog (virtually a lock - AT is MIA while Knux has shown up; 3rd party echoes confirmed)
Ken (easy 3rd party echo)

I'm gonna change this up a bit.

Change Decidueye to Incineroar (too many credible leaks are saying Incineroar for me to ignore)
Add Isabelle (see above)

I'm also keeping Skull Kid in the back of my head for the same reasons but he seems a bit more farfetched than those two due to the fact that he's so far back in Zelda canon at this point.

I feel like there was only that one that was partially from Vergeben but it was even stated that the source that said Incineroar also said no new DK reps so I thought that part of it was debunked.

Yeah he was in some video from ultimate, not sure which exactly but he was in the list of AT shown off so far over on GameXplain's YouTube channel.

This is a really fascinating leak from Japan. It's from January, long before the game was even revealed, and has every single character announced so far. Nailing weird ones...like Richter especially...has me willing to give this leak the benefit of the doubt and believe it might be real. Only leak I've found so far that I'm willing to go that far with.

I WANT to believe this, obviously, but Banjo and Lloyd have me skeptical. As does the lack of Shadow. Matthew a little less so. Nailing Richter in addition to all the others confirmed so far though is nothing to laugh at.

But this is definitely one to look out for.

So what do you think are the odds that Lip from Panel de Pon will be a playable character? Sakurai has said often that he is a big fan of the series and has always wanted to include her as a character. There's always one random old school, long forgotten character included in every game so I wonder who it will be.

One thing I'm hoping for is a character with a weird, unique mechanic like Pokemon Trainer, Ice Climbers, and Ryu. Not sure what it could be, though.

Rex could be that character if they actually gave him multiple Blades. Give him Pyra/Mythra, Roc, and _Nia_ and have his weapon and moveset change when he switches. He could even have a different final smash depending on the active Blade, based on their unique Level 4 specials.

Calling the Moon would be the most obvious choice for a final smash. We already know it's an AT, so he'd need something else. There's also the fact that Skull Kid is from a game that's almost twenty years old and has no other really obvious attacks. Even if you want a second Zelda villain, Vaati seems more obvious. Not saying it won't happen, just saying that the odds are against him.

The hints from the room setups on the directs is actually the biggest hint towards Skull Kid at least imo.

In the first direct the room was blatantly set up with a wooden wall in the background with a rope ladder going up it and also a barrel off to the side, clearly indicating that K. Rool (Or another DK Rep) would be showing up soon.

In this latest direct it's impossible not to notice the vibrant chairs just randomly sitting in plain view for no reason with the exact color of Skull Kid's faeries and then the couch off to the side also being in Skull Kid's colors.

It makes no sense to me that this would just be a "coincidence". No one would EVER just have a room set up like this. Who the fuck just has one random wooden wall with a rope ladder going to... nowhere? With a barrel right beside it.

Who would just randomly have 2 vibrantly colored chairs just sitting off to the side clearly still in the shot of Sakurai going over the direct information?

Skull Kid is also in Hyrule Warriors and they could pull several things from that game to help with his moveset.

I'm not sure I expect a Zelda villain to be added, but if they add one, it would definitely be Skull Kid over Vaati. They're definitely aiming for popular picks, and Skull Kid has been the much more popular choice for Smash desires.

When they originally added Skull Kid as an assist trophy the first thing that was said about him is that HE IS NOT A CHARACTER, as if they knew that he was a popular suggestion and not for people to think he was playable when shown, and now he's mysteriously missing from the AT roster.

I will eat pant if Skull Kid is not playable after there's so much evidence leading to his inclusion.

I don't think anyone really cares about Vaati at this point. He hasn't been in a game in like fifteen years point and the games he's in aren't exactly revered classics like K. Rool's are.

Skull Kid on the other hand is from a game that has a really dedicated following and got a 3DS remake relatively recently. plus he was an Assist Trophy in the last game and has been conspicuously absent so far.

Yeah, it's a popular theory that the video/trailer could be like. Skull Kid's final smash is Majora's Wrath and then Young Link puts on FIERCE DIETY MASK and goes to town on him or something.
