This is a unique case though. Link is an original video game character so its understandable to not let in Dark Link (lets be real its just so the floodgates arent opened for all the Links being different and Link/Link finals), but the clones in DB FighterZ are game-original clones of non-game original characters. Its like the only way we could even possibly get Vegeta in without the gates being opened to all characters regardless of whether or not they originated in a game

The nomination form doesn't actually say the character has to originate in a game. It just asks for the first game they appear in. The previous nomination forms have always specified video game characters. It would also explain why Geralt is eligible even though he isn't a video game character.

CB9 2013:
"You may nominate up to 15 of what you consider to be the best video game characters of all time" (bold was in the original quotation)

Nice. I usually forget this site exists after contests unless I'm playing an RPG and need a FAQ. If I'm lucky and that matches with a contest I then see it, but this is the first time I see the nominations.

Blame Han's MCU thread for it. And maybe Ace Attorney and Pokemon Showdown tournaments too.
