I wasn't here for the early contests, but CBIX was honestly my favorite of the ones I was around for. So much good stuff, and I actually really enjoyed even the Draven drama.

(For the record, the first contest I was on GameFAQ's for was the Series contest, though I don't think I came to this board until whatever the first 4-way character contest was)

The Draven matches had some entertaining aspects to them (like David Hayter literally rallying for Snake and it worked), but overall, CBIX would've been better had it not happened.

Either way, multi-way matches are no good. 2007 was lightning in a bottle, and SBAllen has tried several times to re-catch it with little success.

It's Sky 3. The PS3 version of that (and the other Sky games) seemed to die because it lacked TROPHIES and SCEA is dumb about that. I guess this means the Vita/Evolution versions aren't as dead as we thought but lol too late Vita dead. =(

That said, I may be jumping the gun a bit here, but I'm taking the PS4 CS1/CS2 releases as soft evidence towards XSEED having CS3/CS4. I'm not sure XSEED does this if they don't have them... unless Falcom insisted but even then if Falcom insisted because someone else had the games that'd be such a jerk move. Plus, why then go the extra effort of getting the Japanese voices?

Definitely should put to rest the idea that CS3/CS4 aren't coming, but that was always silly IMO.

LMAO. Yeah, I'm not a fan of that. Thankfully they're not dependent on previous ones (except, to some extent the final bonding event) so it's not as though you need to watch early ones to see the later ones.

Also, in case you didn't know you carry bonding events from day -> night, and the available characters are different in the night phase. You are typically given 1 bonding point when night begins but that's like never enough. Though you could, for example, save 1 bonding point from the day side and it'll carry into night so you'd end up with 2 at night.

They don't carry between days though, so any bonding points you have left over after night are gone for good.

On NG+ there's an option that lets you have max bonding points for all free time phases but argh locking that behind NG+. =(

Yeah, that's what I do too.

The final bonding event is special and there are some pre-reqs on who is available but that's way ahead of where you are. If you want I can give you a heads-up on the rules there when you're closer to it mattering. Or now if you'd rather just know now.

Yeah.

..Actually, I always referred to it in terms of Persona, but Danganronpa is actually a pretty apt one.

There's a period each chapter called a Free Day where you have a plot objective (generally exploring a dungeon that's on the campus of the Military Academy) but until you do that you can do sidequests a la the Bracer Board and you're also given a number of Bond Points which you can spend by attending events with the other party members/major NPCs. Not everyone is available every chapter and you're not given enough bond points to attend all possible events.

The main draw is the character scenes, but there's also a mechanic that keeps track of - for lack of a better term - your relationship with the party members and as it improves you get additional options in combat when linked to them (linking is a major combat mechanic in Cold Steel.) You can also raise that link level through combat but it'd be painfully slow compared to attending bond events.

Andy Dalton is for real...! I'd be wary of Allen just because he gets hurt all the time. Edelman is good in a PPR league, but man, Gurley is so good. I wouldn't trade Kamara for pretty much anything at this point myself.

Honestly the bonding events aren't even good enough that I'd say you're missing out on much.

There's only really 2 or 3 characters that I thought had really good ones. (In fairness, I missed the bonding events for half the cast because I didn't savescum or anything like that. Maybe they had all great bonding events? idk.)
