Omw to NYC right now and I love the pizza there. Chicago is edible I guess but it's basically glorified lasagna

This is a silly debate in a lot of ways-NY pizza is so thin and sparse it's almost like what a cheap frozen pizza would be like if it actually tasted good and Chigago's is basically a casserole. Both are good and while Chicago's is typically more interesting flavour-wise, NY version is closer to the traditional definition of pizza. Of course, I instantly regret saying that because we'll never hear the end of it form either side now lol

how is it like a casserole? isn't a casserole like a bunch of baked stuff, maybe with a top, but no bottom? chicago that I've had is just really thick pizza (also in squares but I don't think that's a requirement).

You all have not had my lasagna, but to me Chicago style deep dish, well it's kinda like a bread lasagna. It's ok, but in general I like lasagna better, and my lasagna WAY better.

Meanwhile NY style is all about the ratio of crust or bread to cheese. I do not like my crust crunchy and I like it very thin. With good sauce and very good cheese, I can and often do it it without toppings.

It all varies greatly by who is making the pizza of course, and i'm sure there are amazing deep dish pizza places out there, but I have not done nearly as much expirimenting with deep dish.

For me, it's NY style all the way.

I honestly don't care if people like pinapple on their pizza, it's just.....I mean it's really annoying when people get it on a communal pizza, which has probably happened to most people who don't like pinapple....which may explain the pinapple hate.

I won't eat a pizza with pinapple on it, or sardines. Pretty much down with all other toppings but either of those on a pizza and nope.....not gonna eat it.

Oh, I'm not into kitten head pizza either but I have never actually seen one in real life.

I just think it's weird that people act like it's the worst thing ever. Pizza, like all foods, is like art. It's has room for so much creativity. Why should it matter if someone wants to put pineapples on a pizza? People make all kinds of pizza these days. Chicken cordon blue pizza, philly cheesesteak pizza cheeseburger pizza, spinach artichoke pizza, and so many more. But pineapple, something basic and actually tasty, on a pizza is what stops the creativity. That's idiotic. I'm not saying the pizza is bad. I just wouldn't buy because I don't like limited my pizza options. I would rather go to a place with more options than a place where they refused an item because they don't like it.

The thing about all those pizzas that you described is that they are savory. That is the key difference, pineapple is a sweet food. You don't mix your sweet and savory foods, that is cooking 101. Sweet is for deserts, not main courses.

Pineapple is great on it's own, I love it in fact. Probably one of my top fruits. But putting it on a pizza overpowers the flavor of the pizza because that is what sweets do. Sweets need to be put with other sweets.

1) That sounds fucking disgusting
2) Quinoa is not a savory food, more of a neutral one like bread, so even though it sounds disgusting I would give it a pass. To make Quinoa savory you need to add ingredients like onion and garlic.
