Looks pretty bad ass to me.

Gonna start another portrait tomorrow. I over smudged this one and the perspective is a bit off.

This drawing has character/personality, but the perspective and proportions are off and are hurting the drawing. A good thing I would suggest in this instance is to use a ruler to lightly draw a line from the eye on the right side on a slight angle towards the left, so that you can bring the eye up to match the angle of the eye on the right side. The nose should move down some more and you can also make the nose less wide. The mouth should also move down a bit. I would also move the ear up some more.

In general, try to think of everything more blocky/boxy:

The picture of the model I have is giving me issues because her head is directly in pointing out and her chin and nostrils are almost upwards.

Really giving me troubles. My friend says my hand is a bit too heavy and need to blend more to hide the construction lines.

But yeah I havent had a lot of time to draw lately because Im busy with my major.

Yeah, upward (or downward) perspective is hard. I am not too great with faces either but aligning the features first has been helpful for me. To really draw faces and heads well though would involve a great deal of study of perspective and simplifying everything into spheres and boxes and cones, then thinking of how those spheres and boxes and cones look at in different perspectives. Then it is easier to place all of the features and anatomy.

Hope you get some time to practice with it.

It does look better, though I think some more adjustments could be made.

Ultimately, how do you want your drawings to look? In terms of realism, I've struggled with portraits and faces since I've barely focused on drawing them, but I've been looking a lot at these 19th century artists recently. It's very inspiring seeing how remarkable the portraits they draw look:

mAB6zHS
U6LCcZ3
7hBi6NO

and I'm trying to get my portraits to look like that. Hair is the hardest though.

It truly was astounding, I mean look at these portraits:

But then, a combination of photography coming about and a shift in subject matter caused the decline of this style. I think it is more beautiful seeing people captured this way than with a photograph.

Because I've mainly been keeping it bumped, and I kind of want it to purge tbh.

@Vol2tex I think her head needs be adjusted about 10 degrees. But I filled in some of the nose and hair and it looks decent enough.

Trying to get likeness down and eventually be able to cartoon people and have it look like them. I heard that is something you can't really teach.

And man I want to see some Renaissance paintings again. I saw a Caravagio (1700's Flemish right?) showcase that was an extra $20 I believe. Something you have to see in person because high res scans don't do them justice.

There are classes and books that teach cartooning, but I think it is harder than realism since you have to use your imagination rather than reference or a live model. Developing a good grasp on the basics is most useful, but some artists like Disney animator Fred Moore though took no classes yet did amazing drawings like this:

20aAo08

It's actually amazing seeing the 1930s drawings by animators and comic book artists because many of them had little to no training yet produced fantastic drawings. I think some of them just naturally can draw the images they see in their head.

Caravaggio was in the 1500s and not Flemish, but yeah it is stunning seeing these paintings up close.
