I have mentioned how hilarious it would be if Vincent lost to Magus, but.... I honestly didn't think Magus had a very good shot here. I'm surprised he's still in this match even. What FFVII is best at is rising in percentage throughout the match, it seems, but I'd love to be wrong. I think Magus is a way cooler character than Vincent.

i think you guys are underestimating Crash. iirc his collection was top 10 in sales for a month or so including multiple top 5s. and some of that was sales on the Switch which has clearly boosted more or less everything that has appeared on it.

This is the fate of almost every rally for the Character Battle ever. It just so happened two out hundreds gained any traction in the past decade.

Vincent gained 0.48% over the past hour. It doesn't seem like much, but if he continues at that rate until the end of the match he'll finish with 59.26%. But I'd expect it to really slow down towards the end of the match as less and less votes are coming in. Still, with CT's terrible Euro and day vote, I don't think 55% is out of the question.

It might also simply be the age of Gamefaqs is over. (well it has been over for a while)
Even with the double votes, the votals are even lower than 2015, which mean a rally should be even easier to achieve.
But at this point, for a casual, is winning a Gamefaqs contest that much different from winning a random pool on any random site ?

Arguably. We do have a direct result to say that he really was ahead of Squall, but I still don't remember him breaking 49.5% on a Noble Niner in a 1v1!

No, I'm not going to stop arguing that Tifa was always stronger than Vincent; I like arguing that, and there's enough ambiguity that neither side can really be proven right.

It is to be expected that more gamefaqs users like or are at least aware of Undertale than outside voters, with it winning the 2015 contest and all. A lot of the outside Pac-Man voters probably had no idea who Sans was.

Vincent really taking off now. He's gained 327 votes in the past 3 hours and climbed above the 51% mark. Now that we're well into the dead zone, I'd expect even bigger gains the next few hours.

Aways used to say CT would die out as votals got bigger and new people who hadn't played CT came to the site. And it happened for a while. But now the votals are in the toilet and the older people who love CT have stuck around. I kinda wish Magus had pulled this off...there's a really cool like early/mid 00s-vibe to this match. It's a rough approximation what we WOULD have gotten in 2005 if Magus wasn't overrated.

From what I remember, Vincent was my least favorite party member apart from Cait Sith. Least memorable guy in the game... apart from Cait Sith.

Kinda makes sense why he'd lose this much traction as more and more people forget why they liked him in the first place.

I was surprised to see Sub-Zero winning so easily, but first of all, we've known Sub-Zero is much stronger than Scorpion for a while. Second, this is still one heck of a Smash boost for Shulk - from being doubled by Altair to threatening 40% on Sub-Zero? And watch Shulk reverse that doubling from Altair lol.

I expect Magus to begin looking better once NA wakes up, but it's probably not enough for him to make any significant effort at a comeback. Still, don't regret picking him. I expected it to be close and had to go with my favorite then. I will also insist that Vincent hasn't fallen more than he had five years ago, but Magus has gotten some strength back after Chrono Trigger became this site's #1. When I picked Magus to win, that was the only reason, nothing about Vincent falling.

I'm still resistant to believing Waluigi > Wario, but you're right that memes have affected his strength. I guess time will tell.

Yes. Magus also kind of suffers from not being especially prominent in CT, at least as far as I remember. Frog is practically an unofficial symbol of the game.

Anyone who seriously picked Magus in this match deserves a manly salute, shouldn't feel bad about that pick at all after this match even as a loss.

The thing I am worried about that would throw this whole division into even more chaos, Vincent somehow SFF'ing Auron to beat him with the FF hierarchy after this monstrosity of a turd performance from Vincent. I want to say Auron is a lock to win his next match after this horrid showing, but given this mess of a division, I can just as easily see this as the tip of the iceberg to how screwed this division is.

Well I feel more confident about Auron winning the division.

mainly because he's looking consistent and everybody else has looked like hot garbage.

Bayonetta looked quite impressive. I definitely wouldn't have taken Lucina over Riku pre-contest, though Riku dropping more isn't that surprising.
