I'm two episodes into Ultraman 2019. It might be the rip I downloaded was bad but the fps for the CG is really bad. It's worse than Berserk 2016 because it's like 30fps but at the same time the choreography of the fights are much better. I can clearly see that it would cost a lot of money to hand draw the fighting scenes. I hope they invest more heavily in CG in the future so it just becomes another part of anime and not just as a concession for better fight scenes.

They're only related in the sense of genre, but there's something very frustrating about you picking up Shield before Re:Zero.

I really really REALLY liked watching every week as stuff came out. It was nice to kind of come in here and gush about stuff with you guys.

Nothing beats being able to binge watch all the way through stuff that's already done releasing though.

I liked the first few Shield Hero episodes but it's all been downhill from there, despite the good initial concept. My biggest problem is he's always in the right or what he does works out, (and if he's wrong very quickly corrects it with no actual consequences) and everyone else outside of the party is cartoonishly incompetent/idiotic/wrong/evil. Oh, and he has a harem of literal children one of which now looks like an adult to make it more okay for her to have genuine romantic interest in him.

That may be slightly exaggerated but I think it outlines my biggest problems.

Also the first OP was good and the second one sucks ass

I like Shield Bro more than Re:Zero personally.

Though I do agree that the cartoony-ness of some of the bad characters can be a problem. Ultimately though I like the premise and the main cast, and I think the show has some interesting political intrigue going on.

Penguindrum episode 5

Apple-chan is definitely my favourite character so far. Feels like she's the protagonist and I'm rooting for her even though she's batshit crazy. Is Kan basically becoming a hired criminal? Or at least exchanging favours for the penguin thingy for money? There's been hints that he's probably up to some criminal stuff on the side such as the fact he's okay with a helluva lot of morally dubious things, stalking, breaking into people's houses (with the ability to lockpick) and stealing stuff, without much consideration or guilt. Also a bit of a playboy (but probably with a deeper reason behind it) and I feel like that's properly going to bite him on the arse sooner or later. Pretty obvious tried to injure/kill that girl on the escalator? That's the only reason I can think he'd be getting paid (and he obviously needs the money for the house and to stay with his sister). I guess pushing the woman was part of the penguin thingy's plan? There's a big theme of fate in this show so I'm guessing the penguin people are agents of fate who got something from the aquarium and now want the penguindrum? And they all have artefacts like the fate diary or the little penguins or the weird laser gun with penguin balls? This is all just random assumptions so I don't think it's likely to all be right but just my theories so far.

Anyways very enjoyable so far 9/10 would recommend

speaking of 20 years the last 2 episodes have been mainly Fleet Admiral Sakazuki, Sengoku and Kizaru reacting to the Luffy bounty increase inbetween flashbacks of the Paramount War. This is our first time getting to hear Kizaru's new voice actor since his old one passed away. Pretty close although he's more soft spoken.

So Im watching more Titan Jr. High and this episode was pretty amusing. Jean got a love letter and kept imagining all the girls of the series fighting over him. of course it turns out the letter was from a Titan because who would actually have a crush on Jean

Garo not even having lip flaps for this opening scene of OPM 2-4 is foreboding.

Especially since this is the episode they were apparently starting work on when the series began airing.
