A South Carolina mom was arrested last month after she allegedly entered her childs school without authorization, shouted threateningly at several eight and nine-year-olds and went on a curse-filled tirade against a teacher, according to a report.

Jamie Louise Rathburn was allegedly upset that the school was not doing enough to stop bullying against her son, Fox Carolina reported.

In a statement, Greenbrier Elementary School said they had met with Rathburn about the bullying, were taking active steps to stop the behavior and were giving her regular updates on the situation.

Greenville County Schools does not tolerate bullying regardless of age, the statement said. It is our opinion that the appropriate reaction to unhappiness with a school response is to have a conversation with the adults in charge and not a hallway filled with eight and nine-year-old children."

The statement added that Rathburns arrest came after parents watched the profanity-laden video on social media and called law enforcement not because any school employees filed charges.

Rathburn told CNN Wednesday she lost her "cool card" when she found out her son had been separated from the other students for his protection. I walked right in that school [and] told those children that bullying wasnt OK, she said. "If they wanted to continue then I needed to talk to their mommas because the school wasnt doing anything.

She said she doesn't regret standing up for her son but regrets how she did it. She added that she "absolutely" owes the students and staff an apology.

She was charged with nonstudent interfering, disrupting, or disturbing schools according to Fox Carolina. She is due in court next week.

I dont believe the school for a second that they were actively looking to stop the bullying. Hence why the mom probably lost her shit.

And if their solution was separating the bullied from his class mates then shame on them. That's punishing the kid who isnt doing anything wrong.

Any parent here would have probably done something in this scenario. Child bullying is a fucking awful part of life and the school not being allowed to discipline when then parents wont is a problem.

And any parent who has a bully for a child should get KTFO if they joke about it.

They don't care about the kid. They care about making it easier for themselves.

While she shouldn't have done that, with how schools do jack shit about bullying I can't really blame her.

You really got to wonder what goes through the minds of teachers and faculty and administrators when bullying even to extreme measures goes on. I wonder if these jobs are like police jobs to where they attract the former school bullies and other sociopaths.

Why do school officials side with the bullies so many times?

Kid: principal! Johnny D flushed my head down the toilet and it had poop! He also gave me this black eye!!

Principal: just ignore him, jimmy

*jimmy gets another black eye, a bloody nose and he finally strikes back

Principal: JIMMY!!! YOU NEVER TAKE MATTERS INTO YOUR OWN HANDS!!! YOURE SUPPOSED TO TELL US!! Thats it, youre suspended!

In this case, then even got the mom of the bullied kid JAILED. They destroyed a familys life, and the poor bullied kid will blame himself. Then we wonder why we have such a big mental health issue in our society

This also stresses me out.

Im 23. In my times, if you got bullied and learned how to fight (maybe you took boxing or whatever) you had a fighting chance (pun intended) of bloodying up one of your tormentors and stopping being a target.

It seems that now the police gets involved? We know how that goes: bullies dont get touched, bullied kids go to fucking jail if they defend themselves? (Not your nices case, she was the nice one, but you mentioned the cops and it reminded me of this)

I would go to jail so fast. I would quickly lose my inhibitions and end up in prison if I knew my son was getting bullied, and nothing was being done to stop it.

There was this animal petting zoo at our local library a couple days ago and we took our kids to it. My son was ready to go in and play in the kids play area inside the library, so I took him in. There was this fat kid in there who was a little older than my son (probably 7, my son is 4) and I could tell that he was trying to bully my kid. I felt that heat boiling up and I had to calm myself. I kept an eye on them and the fat kid would look at me. I could tell that the fat kid wanted to bully, but wouldn't do it while I was looking, so I stayed right there.

I was bullied in school, so I'm very biased against bullies.

Just the fact that she came in there and yelled at them is going to ramp up the bullying for that kid because now they're going to make fun of the fact that she did that.

Also yea, it doesn't seem like any of the bullies were punished in any way so they have no reason to stop. They're more than likely just going to go even harder now

Nope. I told the teacher once and she stated, word for word, "I don't care".

I mean, it eventually slacked off the older everyone got and as we moved into high school it wasn't AS bad. Middle school was hell. It's bad when you're afraid to go to school, and a kid shouldn't be afraid like that.

I wasnt bullied, but my best friend from middle school was. And when youre friends with a bully target you end becoming a target yourself, so I stopped being his friend :(

I feel very guilty about it.

The good part of the story is he took up boxing and didnt tell anyone, for like a year. So one day he got struck by a bully and he clocked him in the face. Then he tried to fight one of the other bullies and he wanted none of it.

It didnt stop the bullying 100%, they would still gang on him, but the bullying reduced greatly.

Nowadays that isnt even an option, principals/cops/school officials are there to protect the bullies :/

You used the word "presumably" which indicates that you don't have enough information to make a statement of fact, then end it by saying you have "no reason to think otherwise".

Basically it comes off as you saying you don't know the full story, so you're filling in the blanks with whatever takes your fancy.

I said presumably because while it does not specifically say so, it is a fair assumption to say that the police reviewed the video evidence before placing her under arrest. Especially since she was not arrested at the school, but rather after the fact. Why you think that isn't how it works is a mystery.

She absolutely deserves to have her mugshot taken and posted online for everyone to see.

Exactly.
And the school rightly threw some shade for that too:
It is our opinion that the appropriate reaction to unhappiness with a school response is to have a conversation with the adults in charge and not a hallway filled with eight and nine-year-old children."

So, you'd beat up a 7 year old? You sound like a bully.

Id take my belt off and whoop his ass and gladly spend a night in jail.

I imagine you'd spend more than a night in jail for hitting someone's kid
