I like it enough to read it all, and to keep reading. I kinda don't know how I want to say things about Tower of God. The work is a cornucopia, and ambitious. Its got so much stuff, that the stuff that's good is bogged down in a way by the stuff that's not as good, but the stuff's that's not good is easily choked out by the better things. (think warmup bands vs the main attraction).

It's like, open worldish games where there's plenty of things besides the main quest that add detail. Both don't do well without the other. But in the case of this work, it's intermingled.

Another metaphor, it's like a museum of something you find interesting. You're not going to find everything interesting. You'll find things that are interesting that you never thought about. You're going to try to take a look at everything because you don't know how interesting it'll be to you. You can speed through the things you don't find interesting. (But in this case, you can't).

I definitely was enjoying the hell out of it before. With that and made in abyss, I think I have a real liking for fantasy worlds based on the deep sea.

I really love how they alter the scale of humanity in the series. The tower is AT LEAST 11 times bigger than earth with a population of roughly 10 trillion according to the author. Even random people that live their whole lives in the outer tower live to be 200 or so and people that can handle shinsu can live for thousands of years without physically aging a day. The initial people to enter the tower are still alive so many years later. It's incredible what that alone does to the story. The climb itself takes some people hundreds of years. I think Lero-ro's climb was known to take over 300 years.

And then on top of that, the tower is just one part of the talse uzer story world and we only ever see the 1 axis user in tower of god.

There might be stories that are bigger out there, but IMO nothing matches the feeling of scale that tower of god has outside of perhaps LotGH. It's so easy to get lost in the wiki just looking stuff up. The world is just so big, and unique, and full of stuff that we barely even get a glimpse of. I really hope the anime gets a season 2 announcement when the current season ends.

Also my guess is 150 floors.

The show is gonna cover like the first 2% of the story. Ok it's more than that but it's just the prologue. They don't even tell you any of that info in season 1. It's not spoilers really, just like background lore they didn't bring up until later.

The anime is ok so far. Some of the animations look a bit stiff and the pacing is pretty fast (although season 1 in the webtoon is really slowly paced so it kind of finds a middle ground). The music is great (kevin penkin best active anime composer IMO), Season 1 is necessary but the weakest part of the story by far. It's mostly just laying groundwork for the real story. It's very similar to the hunter exam arc of hunter x hunter where most people aren't utilizing the power system (shinsu in ToG's case).

You will probably be disappointed if you go in expected a 10/10 anime from the first season.

I don't think season 1 is considered a weak part of the story. There are interesting elements there in its own right that receive much less of a focus later.

I don't consider season 1 bad, just a lot worse than season 2, but sort of by necessity. Bam in particular is a bit of a weakness. He's a character that starts as an actual blank slate. Not a blank slate like a harem protag that is bland, but actually blank as in he has only interacted with 1 person ever and knows nothing about anything that she didn't directly teach him. It's really fun and satisfying in the story to watch him grow and develop but it's a long process and at the start he just isn't very interesting.

Likewise, a lot of the political intrigue parts of the story which are a big part of the show overall are only subtly happening in the background. We barely get that element of the story at all until the finale. The door test, the crown game, hide and seek, and the ending of season 1 are all solid almost standalone parts and we get a lot of hints and teases about various parts of the world that leave you hungry for more. As an anime watcher though, you aren't going to get those answers for a very long time.

Watching outlaw star for some nostalgia. In medical news my doctor FINALLY wants to hospitalize me but she basically just ignores any symptoms she can't explain. She is convinced I have pancreatic insufficiency despite having no test or symptoms besides weightloss that would indicate I have it. It also completely doesn't explain most of my symptoms. I feel like I was talking to a legit crazy person.

Even doctors have no explanation for my reaction to liquids that aren't water. She said she'd never heard of anyone with that symptom and couldn't come up with any idea that might explain it. She wants me to get a feeding tube, which makes no sense. I can't handle elemental diet, which already avoids digestion, why would a feeding tube be any different? Like, I don't understand how this person obtained a medical license.

But yeah, I might be hospitalized at emory before long. I have zero faith in the medical system and have no idea what risk I'd have of getting covid by going there which would very likely kill me since I am immune compromised and malnourished. All this shit could have been done 11 months ago when there was no danger of me dying from this but that wouldn't be utterly stupid enough for our medical system. Like, fuck this system and whoever is responsible.

I'm worried about getting covid, I'm worried the feeding tube won't work, i'm worried they will give me meds I can't handle (since most things fuck me up). This might be my last few hours. If I don't come back, thanks for everything. It's been really nice to have some people to talk about anime with.

You know, the DBZ dub music was not bad at all. I was just watching this:

and the music sent me back fifteen years, to the show and the games that used that music (now I'm wanting to play Legacy of Goku II again). It may have been incessant and not always appropriate to the mood, but the music itself was damn good (especially Vegeta's theme).

I like the creative directions used for some of the movies too. Like with The History of Trunks, the androids had kind of urban rock music that suited the mood of teenagers attacking cities. And while originally they were pretty silent, the dub had 17 and 18 bickering and rambling while terrorizing, which made for a different kind of horror.

I'm alive, not for lack of the hospital trying to kill me. I'm scared to see how much weight I lost. No cure, lots of tests, case being passed onto head of the special diagnosis clinic of emory. Everyone thinks my case is highly unusual and interesting. 50% of nurses are angels sent to aid the sick, the other 50% are terrifying incompetent and I can't believe they don't accidentally kill more people. I got to convulse around in shock in front of the doctors today so at least they are all taking me quite seriously.

It's honestly not that great but it's just really nostalgic for me to watch old adult swim shows I'd see when I was like 10 or whatever. The show was kind of unlucky to be similar but vastly inferior to cowboy bebop that came out only a few months later. Reminds me more of the goofy parts of trigun than bebop though.

In some ways the nurses themselves aren't to blame. The fact that there isn't some sort of accountability and task tracking system is pretty awful. Like, the central system should know where everyone working at the hospital is at all times and have an ordered list of tasks they have to do. Instead it's all by memory. I call the nurse station and ask for water? The nurse I call has to remember to tell my nurse that I want water and they have to remember to do it. Combine that with being understaffed and it's not too surprising there are a lot of errors.

It's just that an error could be me not getting water for a little while or it could be a patient not getting their insulin during DKA. At one point I told them I was feeling really bad and needed to be checked on and no one came for 35 minutes. I wasn't hooked up to any monitors or anything, I could have died in there for all they know. Those kinds of errors are the 3rd leading cause of death in the united states so its just fucking insane to me that no one is doing anything systematic to solve the problem. They also managed to lose my ER doctor for 2 hours. Like, what?

I'm one of the people who defended the non-XL version, but if I'm being honest it's starting to feel pretty small in my hands. I've never tried an XL system, but maybe I might have been better off getting one instead.

The one you linked is the regular size New 3DS; that's the exact one that I have.

My problem with the XL is that it's too large to reasonably carry in a standard-sized pocket and the image quality on most games gets worse on the larger screen.

The scaling really throws off the resolution. I remember the first time I saw a KIU demonstrated on one. KIU has great-looking flying stages, but they looked kinda bad on the larger screen.

When it comes to POP!s, I kinda only like the ones with mouths (unless the character doesn't have a mouth or has somebody like a beard kinda covering the area). It's one reason why I've preferred to the Mystery Minis line to POP!s.

Other anime POP!s I like include:
-Beerus
-Shenron
-All-Might (despite the fact I still haven't seen MHA)

And, if it counts, BEWD (and I think some other monsters from the YGO series)

Was kinda excited to see that NF has the Parasyte dub now (it was at the top of my feed). I loved the original manga but, until now, I had only seen maybe half of the sub and had been wanting to see the dub.

Compared to the manga, the anime's first episode is pretty lousy. Instead of sticking with a sequential series of events (ie, having the opening narrative while the spores fall from space and begin infecting people), it kinda jumps all over the place.

There was also that scene where his hand is automatically using his cell phone to look up information under his desk which I didn't remember from the manga... and the reason for that is apparently pretty simple because the original manga started running in 1988.

Otherwise it's been so long since I watched the sub and far longer since I read the manga that there's thankfully a bunch of stuff I don't remember and likely won't remember.

Yeah, it's great... although the last few episodes kinda drag, especially with the 10 minutes or so they devote to deciding whether or not to finish off Gotou, which is a no-brainer. "Do we have a right to end his life?" Uh, how many fucking times has he tried to kill you? And you know he'll do it again if he regenerates?

And I'm also surprised that there was whole episode devoted to the aftermath. I don't remember the conclusion being that long in the manga and it didn't seem like much more happened than in the final chapter.... so maybe it was spaced with some additional dialogue or something?

I think it was due to the nature of how he had finally come to a point where he felt like he was a hybrid of both human and parasyte. It also goes with the theme of the show. At one point one of the parasytes say, "how is it any different from what humans do? You eat cattle and slaughter them as you require." It all comes back to realizing worth in other species. They do the same with thing with the parasyte that gets pregnant and gives birth to a human.

As for the aftermath, I loved it. I hate when anime cut the story off as soon as the action stops. We need more epilogues in anime, its one of shonen's big flaws.
