Nothing else stood out to me either and, honestly, I generally don't buy games via Steam. The only other title I bought this year was UMvC3 last week because it was on sale for $7.50.

I don't have any console. Otherwise I would be getting most of what I have on my wishlist on PS4 or Switch. No bullshit DRM to deal with.

Oh I bought a crap ton of Tower Defense games, because I love those.

I think after playing so many of them on Kongregate over the years that it became my least favorite genre next to music related ones. Orcs Must Die is fun at least.

I too feel perma burned out on TD games from all the flash games I've played of them over the years.

Also finished rewatching kingdom S1 and S2 and caught up on S3. The art style change for season 3 is a bit hard to wrap my head around. I mean, it is better almost objectively, but it's different. Now Xin's eyes aren't 90% of his face and the strategist girl looks like a different person. The combat looks better and we actually have blood in slashes now. Overall I'm pretty satisfied with the quality of it's return. The story arc is also fucking hype. I kinda feel like it might be too hype for how relatively early in the series it is. Assuming the good guys win, it'll be pretty hard to top that.

I went ahead and bought some stuff since I got stimulus money. Snagged FFX/X2 remaster, FF12 zodiac age, and .hack//GU remaster. No idea when I'll play em since I actually have a backlog due to illness. I'm tempted to get the nep game on sale but I haven't beaten the last 2 I bought. I hope I get better soon cause I got hella games to play.

I crave more kingdom but apparently it's on indefinitely delay cause of covid. That sucks. Starting tower of god now. Maybe it'll drive me back to reading the webtoon even though reading gives me a headache these days and I can't take anything for em.

Alright, watched all the eps of tower of god that are out (up through episode 5). I think they've done a pretty good job honestly. The pacing is definitely fast and some minor stuff is skipped but the tests so far have been pretty well represented and it actually feels like they can wrap up the prologue in 13 eps without it feeling too rushed.

The few things I wished they had done was mention all the irregulars they did in the manga. We only hear about urek in the anime but there were some pretty cool other ones that just weren't shown here. They always bring change to the tower and thats been kind of glossed over. I guess they will probably get into them when they introduce FUG in season 2 though. They were at least nice enough to show us urek and his epic back tattoo and he's the only one that really matters for a while.

They also didn't mention needles (which is what the black march and all other similar looking things are). Hatz is actually pretty unique for having swords. Needles are made with razor thin blades to minimize shinsui resistance. They mention it on floor one when they bring up the black march in the source and it only takes like 2 seconds so they might as well have just kept it in the anime.

Finally, Bam's name is not bam. It's the twenty fifth Bam which means the 25th night. It's kind of intentionally not really a name. I mean, he is generally reffered to as just Bam (for now) but it's still important to know his full name. Maybe they will give some more flashbacks to him and Rachel and explain it then.

All minor issues though. They've still done a pretty good job at keeping us in the dark about everything. You can't even ever see very far. You have almost no concept of what the 2nd floor even really looks like despite seeing plenty of rooms and some grassland outside. The source did the same thing and really kept the whole thing feeling mysterious for all of season 1. Once season 2 starts we get more and more answers both directly and indirectly in the form of just seeing more of the various places they go to.

Triple post but I can't edit and no one else is posting. Watched the 5 eps of the villainess show that are out and holy shit was it a pleasant surprise. It actually gives me similar vibes to bofuri. Also this is the first mixed harem I can think of in anime. Like, occasionally we get maybe 1 girl or 1 guy at the edge of harem but this harem is straight up 4 guys, 3 girls. This may be the closest to a yuri harem anime I get.

The main character sure is oblivious though in a way that would make the average male harem MC jealous. The characters are so into her they aren't that far off from going yandere and she has absolutely no clue they like her at all. I hope we get more episodes soon. I'd be happy with her ending up with any of the girls.

Silent Mobius looks cute, though... Roujin Z looks kinda cute as well.

idk, could just watch older anime. Iria: Zeiram the Animation, for instance. The heroine is kinda cute like the other anime you cited but it has a more serious style and content. It's also scifi.

the best part was that this was all triggered by the translator themselves talking about how they thought about how to translate that particular line for weeks and finally settled on "fragile male ego"

but people latched onto "they translated tsundere as fragile male ego!!!!" without context and it got posted in a bunch of anti-sjw hiveminds

they literally wouldn't have known if the translator wasn't talking about, you know, how proper translation is hard and not 1 to 1

it's also actually hilarious they picked fata morgana of all things to get pissy about considering it is one of the most feminist VNs out there period

I don't know where you got that from. It says "We stand for the translator's opinion" It doesn't say anything about it fitting the story. It's wrong regardless since translations are supposed to be as literal as possible. Funimation had awful ones like the Gamergate one or " male patriarchy" lines.

tldr: tsundere as used was not the traditional term but meant to imply something about that character. fragile male ego implies it better

no they aren't, they're meant to preserve the spirit and intention of the conveyed message while flowing well. obviously there are many cases where the translation takes too many liberties, but this is not one of them

fata morgana's setting is also western and using the term tsundere without translating it would actually be idiotic

I love the Golden Week sales on PSN, it lets me get so much weird stuff. I got Punch Line, a visual novel / puzzle game about a guy who lost his body haunting a house with multiple females, and seeing panties too often will end the world by meteor. Written by the guy behind the Zero Escape games, which I admit is what tempted me despite the weird sounding plot, I loved 999. It also has an anime, because of course it does.

Overpowered idiot girls have a good time is more of a winning formula than I thought it would be. I guess it's sort of an evolution of cute girls do cute things but more actually happens. that's just isekai with donkan protagonist

i do agree in a different way though, isekai tends to be MUCH more entertaining when your protagonist has significant character traits

ride-on king, kage no jitsuryokusha ni naritakute, yakuza reincarnation, and akuyaku reijou tensei oji-san are all interesting because of their protagonists' rather extreme (compared to the average isekai protagonist, anyways) personalities

the first because it's shirtless bear-riding putin memes realized, the second because of all the problems he's accidentally and unknowingly solving by living out his chuuni fantasies, the third because yakuza problem solving in an isekai world, and the fourth because nice ojisan has the same effect on the plot as katarina does

god all four need anime

I don't feel like isekai is even needed for this though. You could easily have a normal human in the normal world being dumb and having everything work out. Like I could imagine an anime where a dumbass girl accidentally climbs her way up the cooperate ladder starting as a McDonald's employee or something. She'd just have to continue to have odd wholesome ideas that work out because she gets lucky, meanwhile she is oblivious to how effective it is and how everyone else is trying to gain her favor.

The formula could really be applied to almost anything that you can be good at.

Ooo, I can answer this one, since I play both series (including Cross Rays on my DS).

The SD Gundam G Generation franchise -- and it is a franchise, almost as big as SRW in terms of the number of games -- is, at its most basic level, Super Robot Wars featuring only Gundam units, but the customization, deployment, game play, etc. is different. Hard to explain without being overly technical. I find that G Gen is a step above SRW in terms of map design and unit variety, but it lacks any overarching story because it tends not to deviate from the story of the individual Gundam series that make up its level selection. It also tends to be a lot harder, with a much steeper difficulty curve unless you are playing one of the newer titles (e.g. G Gen Genesis, available on PS4 with English subs).
