Holy shit lmfao. Due to a mass hacking spree, Vanguard Zero tried to implement a hacker detection of sorts. But... for some reason it cleanly and randomly banned half of the playerbase, leaving bh the remaining half to cope with this catastrophe for 5 years.

Worse off, it's only 16 hrs til this season ends so a ton of ppl waiting to climb at the last min are super mad. Well even ppl not climbing are mad because they can't play the game. A random strawpoll suggests the result was truly random and half of the playerbase literally got Thanos'd

What sort of spaghetti code is required to pull this off? I don't think I've ever seen a ban of this magnitude. Right b4 their 500k dl celebration lmfao. They're gonna have to rename it to 250k atm

Based on the mention of a "deep equipment system" including "hero-specific and set items", the weapons to strengthen the characters will probably be the main gacha component of the game. Maybe they'll go the route where pulling a character's special weapon also instantly unlocks the character for you even if you haven't unlocked them through the normal gameplay method yet, so that way whales can still spend to get their favorite characters even faster than just through normal gameplay.

I just preregistered for it (along with Tales Of Crestoria) and it's launching globally in four days. Anyone else might be interested in this one?

Always ends up throttling/banning legitimate players for weeks/months while the actual hackers have it circumvented in less than 24 hours.

Equipment-based gacha (with the actual heroes and alt costumes being hella easy to unlock) is how King's Raid works, and I would arguably consider it the "best" mobile game I'm playing when it comes to getting what you want.

Hell, it's the only one I feel guilty about *not* giving money to because I feel they've legitimately earned it over the years, yet at the same time there's no pressing need to ever spend money. I often wondered if it was *too* generous and risking closure due to a lack of financial support. But nope, still here years later and even getting a TV show soon.

Battle Divas has piqued my interest, though I admit my mobile game plate is getting a bit full, playing 10 already with only 4.5GB of space left on my phone, lol.

Probably end up removing FFT: War of the Lions, it's the only non-gacha that doesn't demand my attention ...though it never needed to ask, I willingly lavished it. And hey, I own it forever (or whenever the Google Play Store dies) so it'll always be there when I inevitability come crawling back.

I dont particularly care for Skadi, but Im well aware of her meta placement. I sorta want the Valks more, but they come out at a bad time.

besides using a support Exusiai, I think upgrading my healers ultimately made the final difference. I also had much better results with two AoE healers instead of AoE on the bottom and single-target on the top, the auto-crossbows hitting multiple characters regularly makes it hard for a single-target healer to keep up.

Not sure what I want to do with the game now, trying to "just" do daily missions is probably more time than I want to spend on it...maybe just Annihilation for the weekly rolls.

Tbh I've been sorta out of Arknights recently. I didn't really see the point of beating harder stages and realizing I might need to build yet another unit that my current line-up is missing, or wanting to build a new E2 to realize the amount of grinding I have to do. Most of my time with this game has been grinding and then being not all that motivated to do all the challenge modes and such. My team power level has risen dramatically since my last 3rd anni attempt that went 394 so I know I can beat it. It's just that I feel no motivation to actually sit through that excessively long stage.

So I'm probably gonna cool it with this game. As usual, when I get bored with another gacha, PAD always feels like home. Vanguard Zero is cool too but I might cool it with this game too. Their constant mismanagement and a lack of admission of guilt when it matters kinda bothers me

I'm taking a break from it, but beating harder stages is the part I like about the game. Usually. Sometimes stages are more gimmicky hard but w/e. I already cleared chapter 5 awhile back so there's not much else to do except Challenge stages and I've already cleared half of those, and I feel like I kind of need Myrtle for some of the harder ones anyways.

Otherwise I guess it's just waiting for new content to play, be it events or new story stuff. I guess there's the possibility of interesting new characters too but the only future character that looks really useful (and whose design I like) is Nian, who I'm guessing won't be for awhile and won't be easy to get.

(but yeah, I see what you're saying about the grind, it gets harder the further you get)

This past event's difficulty spike for challenge mode basically requiring me to E1 half my roster was an exercise in frustration.

I suppose I can actually clear most of the ch 3 and 4 challenges I skipped now, and work on ch 5, but eh.

I put off the last one's challenge mode til the last min (mixture of being too busy and not feeling like playing Arknights) til I realized I didn't have enough arts damage on my team in general to kill those unblockable guys. I started to raise Astesia only to realize I'd not have enough money to upgrade her b4 the day ended. I know a lot of stages are technically beatable without too much of one thing or another, but I literally just like had Eyja and that's it for my arts dmg. She's like lvl 50 E2 with lvl 7 for s2 (s3 definitely wouldn't kill everything in time) and it was still not enough arts damage. The pretty random stun from the sniper was also bothersome. Sometimes they'd just choose not to attack the last unit dispatched that's clearly in my range and attack my tank instead. I couldn't figure that one out so I kinda just gave up.

But yeah, hard stages are cool but it's not been enough

I'm considering dropping WotV and trying to get as many refunds as I can. There are so many bugs in that game, and the AI is stupid as fuck. It's just frustrating seeing my gunner run TOWARDS a melee unit when she's still in her range and outside his <_<

SINoALICE is coming out in less than 2 months anyway, so I think Arknights and GFL can hold me until then.

Funnily enough it was getting a friend Eyja with S3 which helped me to finish the stage, there are a few critical mob points in the stage where you just need to kill everything in time and S3 is great for that

Yeah if I had other source of arts damage, she would've been enough. But I wasn't holding in places where her s3 wouldn't have been up and her s2 would've killed a few crucial enemies faster.

My S3 is lvl 8? as well. But in general I was lacking arts damage and wasn't gonna be fast enough to build new units

At least you were able to tackle the challenge modes at all for that event, I couldn't even beat all of the *normal* modes because of that fucking lava snail boss.

Even the lowbie-friendly guides weren't enough, as most of them required using *4 units I didn't have built up or didn't have at all.

Couple that with having no OG Prime for any of the swimsuits, and this summer event was friggin' meh for me.

Anyway, true enough, seems all characters can be unlocked by progressing through the story (and one via a series of challenges), though you'll have a chance to unlock one of them early (with a free legendary weapon) via a 20 reroll box. I'm not sure *all* of them are available, but then I only saw a few of them before I started to run out and had to settle for whoever showed up next (slooty nun with a giant pink scythe is one hell of a consolation prize though).

Keep in mind that *not* every reroll includes a character, so be very careful of holding out too long otherwise you'll miss out on a early freebie. At the same time though, you lose nothing permanently (character or weapon) if you end up with nobody extra at all.

Yeah, they weren't lying when they said that every character would be unlockable via normal gameplay. It looks like you get a new one for every story chapter by unlocking all of the achievement stars for that chapter, and I was right about my prediction that you could also unlock characters early by drawing one of their weapons from the equipment gacha. They're all at 1 star though, and I haven't figured out how to rank them up yet. No idea if it's a gameplay feature unlocked later on or if it's done by pulling more weapons (or dupes of weapons) from the equipment gacha. If it's based on pulling dupes, then the PvP meta could still turn out pretty whale-heavy, but we'll have to wait and see. EDIT: Apparently, ranking up characters is based on getting different weapons for that character. So multiple copies of the same weapon (if you can even pull them at all) won't help in this regard.

Based on what little I've done so far, the gameplay is simple yet strategic, almost Fire-Emblem-ish in a way with how you're moving your characters around the grid to position them for attacks. The character designs are great too, and the game seems to run well even on my outdated Galaxy S7. EDIT: I tried running it on my even more outdated backup phone (a Galaxy S5) and the game just gives me a black screen. So yeah...

Unfortunately, the main flaw I've seen mentioned with the game is that it doesn't support cross-platform accounts yet, and there's no word on if it ever will. You can't move your account across IOS and Android devices at all, so if you're the kind of phone gamer who constantly switches between the two (such as playing on an iPhone and a PC android emulator) or you're considering upgrading your phone and switching from one to the other, keep this in mind before starting with the game.

So apparently, the reason that Battle Divas gives you 20 chances at the free opening roll is because it's very difficult to start a new account after linking it. Right now, you can only link your game to a Facebook or Google account (they have no account system of their own) and it's impossible to unlink from those. To start a new one after that, you'd have to create an entirely new Facebook or Google account to link to or play on a guest account with the risk of losing everything should something happen to your data or your phone.

It's not a big deal in the long run since re-rolling is basically pointless due to being able to get every character in normal gameplay. But if you really want to start with one specific character on your team, then make sure to get them before you link your game to either Facebook or Google. I got my cute cyborg doll loli and got my game safely linked to my Facebook account, so I'm all good.

I honestly don't know who's best or whatnot, I just went with what I found most aesthetically pleasing. Even then I know my lewd filled heart is fleeting for Celeste, because there's a robo-catgirl with a maid costume in this game.

Not sure if it was possible to free pull Fran though, as she's unlocked in chapter 13 (presumably one of the newest ones) *and* there's an offer to roll for her and her unique sets from a current chest in the shop, so it would be in their best interest to make you chase a bit harder if you want her early. (It certainly robbed me of my earliest gems.)

Yeah, and at least a couple of weapons can't be found in the gacha at all, you have to unlock them in story missions same as everyone else.

Based on what little I've done so far, the gameplay is simple yet strategic, almost Fire-Emblem-ish in a way with how you're moving your characters around the grid to position them for attacks.

The element mechanic is pretty cool too, in the sense that aiming for and breaking enemy parts actually pays off, or how even older weapons will stay relevant due to giving a character access to an element you might want/need for certain fights down the road.

I also like that set bonuses are a thing we get to play around with right away, whereas in most other games they're an endgame/cash shop only thing. I love how the "Novice" set literally summons a heal bot, just to give you a taste of what set bonuses can do beyond "inflate xyz stat".

Nope. Tried that. It might work if it just wanted an email address, but it is linking to the google account itself. Google accounts dont take +stuff. New google or Facebook account needed for any attempt.

Not that I noticed. Pretty sure I was getting a 5* weapon nearly every roll. I pushed towards the 20 mark so that I could get a weapon and two 5* accessories.

That's some absolutely horrendous luck if you really went all 20 without a single weapon. It took me 7 of the 20 rolls to pull the weapon to get the cute cyborg doll loli that I wanted, and I pulled some kind of weapon (and a character with it) in at least half of them.

Battle Divas are definitely better than it lets on I think. Story is nothing, the character designs are mixed from good to forgettable and a bit cartoony, though there are jiggle physics and such, the gacha feels less impactful on an initial look. But I think there's actually a lot in this game that should be in every shitty gacha game.

The equipments basically give a lot of different kinds of options rather than most of them being just "do more damage." A lot of the skills are do more damage, sure, but some skills make you actively change how you position your character or build your team. They also change the element which is pretty useful for breaking parts off the bosses, which give extra drops

The combat is sometimes janky but usually actually strategically gratifying. I'd say the biggest problem is lack of visibility in terms of what the enemy might do next turn, but they do give warning signs for big attacks, and you can view a droll extensive stat page on all the enemies, which is appreciated for the harder stages. Big bosses also have multiple hit box, which makes AOE characters that generally do less damage better. But there isn't enough potential to cheese I think because these big bosses can just kinda rampage all over the map and fling your characters all over the place, which can be a bit too RNG for a pretty variance-less battle system.

Character unlocks without gacha massively helps this game. Since everybody will have access to every character, they can design the stages around that assumption. I'd say the hardest thing that'll probably happen later on is that a vital character for a stage is horrendously leveled and geared that that's where a lot of the grind will be.

I think gacha games either need to be like PAD where there are just like 20+ highly customizable chars for a single purpose and a massive 5k+ card pool that you can draw from, which justifies them flinging all sorts of heinous shit into a boss and just call it a day, or like this game where you have a few characters but you can use all of them. Otherwise, you get some pretty questionable design decisions or cases where a person not lucky enough to pull something simply can't participate in a hard stage. Yeah that gets them to spend money, but also maybe not out of the feeling that you can spend a ton of money and still not get what you want.

Who knows though. I guess if there are more rewards for pulling more, the gacha game will survive longer. Otherwise there's a lot of pessimism on this game that I don't think it deserves over some of the other games that's been up for quite a while now

The way I see it, most gacha players have one of two focuses: either build a meta team and try to be the best, or just pull for your waifu and collect the specific characters you like, meta be damned. Most normal gacha games make both of those things difficult because the best and most desirable characters are often rare or limited, which sometimes forces the free players or low spenders to quit due to not being able to keep up.

But in Battle Divas, since every player can get every character simply by playing the game, the "just pull for your waifu" players are instantly satisfied, making them much more likely to keep playing and possibly spending money. On the flip side, the "try to be the best" players still get the experience of building a meta team and the advantages of whaling (if they go that route) through the equipment system. The big spenders have the same PvP advantages over the other players that they would in any other gacha game and still get the thrill of trying to rank high and be the best, but without the "just pull for your waifu" players being upset and possibly quitting due to their pulls not going their way.

TL;DR: I think this system greatly increases the game's enjoyability for the casual players and lower spenders while not negatively impacting the enjoyability for the serious players and bigger spenders.

Agreed, I barely touch PvP in most gacha games I play. I really only continue to play Mirrors in Magia Record for the extra daily rewards, and I just do the minimum 5 battles a day to get those. My 4-slot Nanoha that I saved everything for has carried me to at least high B-rank (if not A-rank) in every season of Ranked Mirrors too, but I don't see any reason for me to put in the extra effort to go all out and try and reach S-rank.

I actually just completed my last Ranked Mirrors matches for today in Magia Record, so time for me to finally start diving deep into Battle Divas.
