Game has a lot of great setpieces and memorable moments/characters but I've always felt it's really shallow because it's just stringing you along to get you to the next cool trailer shot that will win the game a ton of goty awards

which is my issue with Uncharted games as well, I am just not into that type of game although I understand why people like it, there is definitely reasons to like it but overall I'm never dying to replay Last of Us or Uncharted

as an additional disclaimer: the above games are good but I do not like them for the reasons that make them good to most people

I got a little bit into the game, but then I reached a section where there were a lot of the zombies along with a new one. Tension is fine for a game, but when you lose and have to start the same five minute section over again -- and again, and again -- tension turns into aggravation. I gave up there and have no plans to go back.

Loved it when it first came out and loved it when I replayed it last year.

Worse than any Uncharted game, and I'm not a fan of the Uncharted games. The gameplay sucks and the story isn't great. The Ellie chapter was good stuff though. Shame the DLC couldn't follow up on that and sucked even more than the main game...

Fantastic multiplayer

at the time of their release it was okay for shooting mechanics to be clunky and environments/puzzles to all be basically the same but I don't have the patience for that anymore

I loved the game for what it did well. The moment the winter chapter starts is one of my favourite moments in any game I've ever played. I thought there was a real chance Joel had died, and you were going to survive in the cold wilderness alone as Ellie. It elevated her character to a new level.

To look at it impartially: The gameplay lacks variety. There's only so many planks you can move and floating skids to drag before it isn't that interesting anymore. You can't really interact with the environment as much as you'd like. The movement feels limited, pretty sure all jumping was automatic and only rarely came up.

Even playing the game on hard, I found I had too much ammo at the end, so it is possible to gun your way through if you have good aim and conserve a little bit.

The final chapter was really short, and a bit of a letdown compared to winter.

I feel like the human enemies outnumbered the infected, and overall were more annoying to deal with than any of the infected. Not sure if that's actually bad, just not what I was expecting.

Finally, firefly pendants being hidden in trees or hanging up high was a horrible idea. Even knowing that fact, they are hard to see, and I don't even think there's an instance in regular gameplay where you learn to shoot objects down.

Also, I have no intention to read the spoilers for the sequel. Whatever the storyline is, I can't see it diminishing what I liked about the original. However, I could see controversy concerning the employees not being treated fairly causing backlash. Even though stuff like that probably happens everywhere, you just don't hear about it.

hey guys I heard that Leonhart4 doesn't like the ending of this game, but I'm not sure. can anyone confirm whether or not this is true?

got the game for free btw. played a bit. it was kinda fun, but not really my thing. never beat it.

Probably my favorite multiplayer game ever. Single player is great as well. Although, I still voted for Dark Souls today because that's my #1 game of the decade, but TLOU is in the top 5.

I thought the ending was perfect. You don't need to explain everything, or wrap everything up perfectly. It's good to have some mysteries left on the table. That's why I'm a bit disappointed that they're continuing with the same characters for the sequel. Still really excited for it though.

Never played it, but I can't stand Uncharted, and the concept of "uncharted with zombies" is the least appealing thing in the world. Throw in "uncharted with zombies and virtue signalling" and you have a candidate for worst game ever.

IMO having the story continue at all undermines the perfect conclusion. Joel chose the end of humanity over ending the one true bond we made throughout the game. that's it. that's the end of TLoU as a fictional universe. whatever happens from this point on should no longer matter. because if it does end up mattering, it undermines Joel's choice, and by extension, the story of TLoU as a whole.

Which is why i was against a sequel from the start. was still gonna give ND the benefit of the doubt before the leaks though.

I liked the game. Doesn't have any replay value (other than to remember what happened before playing the second part), but I liked the game.

I used to like modern Naughty Dog games but I like them less now because how they're influential in the industry. I don't want an industry where quality is directly related to high budget and directors who don't care at all about creative game design, prefer working a lot on the directing of their cinematics and take the controller from my hands to tell me what he thinks.

Pretty sure I enjoyed it more in my replay last year than I did during my original playthrough. Fantastic game.

Despite it being disappointing during this contest, I tend to agree with a top 16ish ranking on my own GotD list.

It's jarring to see so many here dislike it, when it's one of my faves. Mind you, I haven't played it since like... 2015, but I very much enjoyed the gameplay. Had no problem with the shooting, melee, the tactics from moment to moment. The performances were phenomenal, the narrative hit all the right beats to me. SO emotional and gives me those "exactly what I was hoping for" lines in the dialog, such as with Ellie in the cabin house in Fall. Or the giraffes.

I can see why some don't like the ending but I didn't have a problem with it. It all came full circle.

The one thing I wasn't a fan of was Joel's injury before Winter hit. I don't think he survives that.
