We have already talked about Dancouga here, but --

Goshogun is goofy, but fun. And the theme song is like the Golion theme, but backwards.

Godmars is corny, but it really is one of the best '80s super robot shows, IMO.

Baldios is a weird one, but it's not bad, either.

Devilman Crybaby has been pretty good. The weird, crappy animation looks bad during the normal scenes, but it blends well with the transformations and action scenes. I might check out some other Devilman series at some point.

Oh, plus they had a slam poetry scene in English instead of Japanese so now I kinda wish they had done the earlier rap/slam poetry scenes in English (then again, I wouldn't have known how great they sounded in Japanese)

Ooooh. Found a new manga today.

It's a new take on the isekai/tensei/reincarnation genre.

The story is about a top-class stage magician getting isekai'd, ufortunately he doesn't get isekai'd into a fantasy world with magic like he's always dreamed.

Instead he get flung back into the time of the Witch Hunts!

Now he has to use all his "magic" to survive and not get caught in the trials, while helping out all the other innocent witches from getting burned at the stake.

There's only two chapters out so far, but it's definitely a manga you should keep an eye on.

If you go back to the OAVs from the late '80s / early '90s, watch with the English dub (so bad it's good, IMO) for the full experience.

And it looks like Trails to Azure is close to completion as well.

Looks like now would be a good time to finally start on Trails in the Sky Second.

Took a break from the series after the first one because I was too emotionally drained from the game and the ending.

Finished Devilman Crybaby. That shit went completely off the rails by the end. Midway through the series, there's kind of a turning point and then another turning point before everything just gets absolutely crazy in the last two episodes. I was digging the show up to that point, but I'm not sure how I feel about the ending.

At first I was kinda thinking series like Devilman and Ultraman were cool for getting very different remakes/reboots... but then I considered it a bit more and realized that how a *lot* of shows actually do that. Transformers, for instance, has done it like 3 dozens times now where characters are heavily reinterpreted (although some defining character traits always remain).

not entirely sure about this, but devilman ending, (not true spoilers) There weren't any stories like it until it came around. Practically any anime where the world goes to shit as an ending is influenced by devilman.

I will say there were a few things towards the end of Crybaby where, even as I watched them, I was thinking didn't make much sense.

For starters, you have this big emotional scene where Devilman tries to shield some humans from other humans, where eventually everybody goes up to hug him... and this whole time I was thinking, "Wait, wasn't he supposed to be confronting the big bad? And aren't more people going to die because he's not doing that?"

Then you Miki's murder. First, the humans from the house -- who left several minutes AFTER Miko carries Miki away because they stuck around to do more killing -- were somehow able to find the two and catch up with them. Then you have the fact that they killed one of the friends, put his body in the passenger's seat, and then drove after them.... just to trick the viewer, despite the fact it makes no sense for the characters. Then, after all that, they chop her up (why?) and bring the body all the way back to the house (why?) so they can dance around the fire with it (presumably to set up the fact that Devilman was able to find them?). Finally, Devilman spews flames at the group, incinerating everybody... yet Miki's head was later shown to be in pristine condition.

Out of the most recent chapters there are:

• A chapter about the main character (Tomoko) wanting to become a Gaming Youtuber after she learns one of her friends is popular on Youtube.
• A chapter about how Tomoko knows about erotic asmr and might consider becoming a voice actress with her friend to do erotic audio.
• A chapter about how Tomoko wants to become a VTuber

All of it is absurdly hilarious because it's mixed in with a bunch of extremely lewd "coincidences" that make it look like basically every main character is a lesbian despite the fact that none of them are (well at least that the reader knows of...).

Hard to say how much of it there actually is because Go Nagai is a crazy man who apparently does not sleep and is always doing new versions and spin-offs of his older works, but ... I don't recommend going all the way back to the '70s on this one.

Dude, she used Denji's intestines as a leash. That's some hardcore fucked up shit right there. Plus, she asked "Chainsaw Man" to save her not Denji, so she's already dehumanised him to that extent.

Also, what do you think of the theory that Pochita might actually be a fallen archangel of justice?

Since in the hallway scene, all of her victims had some connection to the angelic spheres.

It would also explain why Chainsaw Man is so powerful since demons get powerful the more they are feared, and Pochita himself is feared by demons. Like that one line mentioned where demon mentions that "they heard a chainsaw like sound before they died"

I can't remember the last time I was really into re-watching an anime. I loved Ouran High the first time around and still got a kick out of some of while rewatching, but I eventually got bored.

I think about the only time when I'm really down with rewatching an anime is when I've only seen the sub, as was the case with Parasyte (well, that and I watched an edited-down version of Parasyte that didn't start from the beginning).

idk, rewatching anything half the time doesn't feel that appealing, except when I get suckered in by some Youtube clips. However, I'll sometimes re-read manga. After finishing Shibito, I read through a few of the earlier chapters yet again. Although for that, I kinda rushed through the series so it gave me a chance to appreciate some of the stories a little better.

when watching something for the first time it deserves 100% of my attention, but for the second or third time, 60% of my attention is fine

Since I blazed through my Slime rewatch, I'm finally going to start the next part of Gintama I've held off on for years. Slime is probably favorite isekai and I can't wait until there's more of it.

Was going through my old laptop (the one that helped me re-find Shibito) and found a few other titles I'd started reading but ran out of scanlation. Hopefully I'll have some luck with a few of them, although apparently Bocchiman doesn't go much further? (And I think I might have spoiled something for myself?)

Kami-Sama, Ki-Sama O Koroshitai seems to have some new chapters, though (although the last ones are from August 2019 so... not sure if it's still ongoing).

And then one of the other ones was Jagannn or whatever, a series about demon frogs possessing people and turning them into killing machines based on their deep desires.

I'm enjoying misfit at demon academy a lot more than I'm inclined to admit. Somehow the fact that they don't even bother to make the fights close is more respectable. The show isn't good by any sort of critical metric but it still entertains me.

Also calling it that the girl they ran into right when they got to the human academy is Kanon re-incarnated and maybe possessed or something.

ni no kuni was alright, if you really like miyazaki you'll probably love it. it's overall extremely simplistic and kinda slow but that's not a bad thing for everyone. i got it for like $10, played about ten hours, and got my fun's worth out of it

i've only played one god eater game but it's basically just anime monster hunter, and a lot more accessible if you find regular monster hunter too slow-paced

Wait, in the Rosario + Vampire anime, does the hero still become a ghoul like the manga? Because for some reason I thought he didn't (in the manga he transforms while fighting the kitsune, but the anime just mentions Moka beating him). I kinda read ahead and learned that he becomes a vampire, but I'm not sure if both versions have the gimmick where he has a super-strong, uncontrollable form so it has to be locked away.

i tried multiple monhuns and it was just unfun to try to play through all the vestigal systems and slow paced gameplay

eventually World clicked for me but i still despise stuff like having to eat meals, sharpening in general, the poor layout of most of the hubs, how slow tracking can be, and most of all, the fucking inventory management

got eater burst was fun from the first hour cuz it was just kill shit with big sword or big gun
