If you had to put me down for an answer I'd say he does not run again in 2024 but what gives me pause is that he will absolutely still want the validation of the rallies and shit and while he's sure to run a neverending grievance tour after all this is said and done I can't rule out his narcissism getting all caught up in all the adulation and going for it again.

Though I'd still put my bet on him finding a way to try and thread the needle of "If I ran again I would win SO BIG no one would win bigger folks but the RADICAL LEFT DEMOCRATS treated me SO HORRIBLY I don't want to deal with that again folks, okay? We'll run Don or Ivanka and then I'm kind of running anyway, right?"

I also think the GOP will find it a little harder than just trying to run one of their guys as "MAGA 2.0" but that is 100% going to be their play. Not sure the cult goes for it. They'd need Trump's "blessing" I feel and even then I'm not 100% sure they turn out in the same numbers unless it's literally him on the ballot. But I guess we're all gonna find out in four years.

I believe in the original lockdown they basically paid companies to keep people on the payroll. It looks like there is more money going to businesses in sectors being shut down. Not sure if they do anything for people who do lose their jobs or not.

Long story short, the PA Election Code + Supreme Court state that the outer mailing envelope for absentee ballots "shall" be "fill[ed] out, date[d] and sign[ed]" and that the board of election "shall examine the declaration on the envelope [...] [and be] satisfied that the declaration is sufficient."

Out of concern that minor errors on this might cause absentee ballots to be thrown out, the PA Dems asked the PA Supreme Court earlier in the year that should such a thing arise, that the board of electors notify the voter of the error and allow them to cure it. PA Supreme Court said no.

Apparently one of the board of elections decided to count these ballots regardless and that was the issue at dispute here. The court is saying they can't do that because the Election Code requires the envelope be dated and that the board of elections is required to make sure the envelope is dated for it to count

While this sounds good and all, the dissent raises the compelling point that there is precedent of the Pennsylvania courts ruling to count ballots even where they are in technical error over a "shall" wording. The example raised in the dissent is that the Election Code states that the voter shall fill in the ballot with blue or black ink but the courts have ruled that ballots marked with green or red ink should not be discarded.

Dissent makes the more compelling argument here (and notes that were the outer envelope declaration left blank or unsigned that the ballot should be set aside but that there is no compelling reason to set aside a ballot whose only error is that it is not dated.)

For the other stuff here: The ballots here were received on or before Election Day (and the Dissent even notes that the only compelling reason they can think of for requiring the date is to ensure it is received on time but that the board's own equipment timestamps them when they are processed so that can be used to ensure they didn't arrive late.)

tl;dr: Opinion of the court seems overly literal with a huge undercurrent of trying to pass the buck to the PA Supreme Court tying their hands here. Dissent seems to make more sense to me and points to precedent that I think makes the more compelling argument because it would appear to undercut the court's majority opinion's reliance on super strict literalism.

Their cases had to go down. It was unsustainably high. They were equivalent to like 330-350k cases a day in the US. Even a 32 percent decrease would put them around 200k a day in the US.

For 3, since 95% of votes are 2-party voters are counter votes, you don't even need the picture of Trump on that yam, just the letter R. In fact that picture could be a huge liability. It's uncertain, so he won't get party support.

To be clear, they will definitely jump to another hysterical populist movement. If the Rs are smart they will ride the wave of that next movement (Q is the obvious one). We've seen it before many times with Bannon leading people from PUAs to GG to Trump. But he and the other strategists are gone now so it might not happen as effectively.

But also that hysterical movement can definitely be liberal. We've seen people like extha and wang switch to Bernie broism. Most young Americans are very liberal inherently so this isn't too surprising. It's just that there wasn't much of a populism among the liberals, until now.

So if 2024 is populism vs populism, there's no chance Trump will win or even get much traction.

tucker's also gone against trump a couple times already so it's really not that new or surprising. hannity definitely would be the big one and i don't see that happening either.
but the way tucker went into Sidney Powell here was damning. don't think anybody's been that critical of her while accepting the possibility of her claim. good sign of things to come.

I know that won't matter to you, Corrik, because you think wishing death on anyone is in bad taste, but it is a distinctive difference. As for me, I've never been one to wish death on people I disagree with politically...until COVID happened. The fact that the Trump Administration downplayed a deadly pandemic and turned it into a political issue has basically made me far more callous towards them and their enablers. The only appropriate retribution for their actions would be death at the hands of the virus they tried claiming was no big deal.

You are right. Shooting and/or killing people via whatever means and extinguishing their lives by your own hands/machinations should be something you should be more inclined that the person was met with death for in regards to justice.

There are some acts that justice can find irredeemable and not worth the toll on society to try and rehabilitate and/or find not able to be rehabilitated.

However, hoping the people you don't politically like die is quite another matter indeed. Like, wowee. It's like hoping your opponent sports team plane crashes. Like, it's a juvenile thought. One I can accept may be made with hyperbole or in dark comedic effort. But, I am not sure that's the tact you are going for here.

I see your strawman and counter with my own strawman. "Execute everyone on death row despite the possibility that they might have been wrongfully convicted, but deny any and all accusations of sexual assault against any man ever because we don't want to condemn an innocent man now do we?"

But seriously, the death penalty is a complicated issue. There is always going to be a possibility that someone is wrongfully convicted, and the potential to kill an innocent man gives me pause in wanting them dead (I'm not Donald Trump after all, and am not going to put out a full-page ad in the New York Times, calling for the execution of five innocent black kids for a crime they didn't commit). The way I see it, as long as someone is imprisoned, then at least they are being punished for their crimes without the finality of death in the event of innocence.

In the case of the GOP--and I want to make it QUITE clear that regardless of their scumbaggery and direct harm to our democracy prior to the beginning of this year, I NEVER outright wished death upon them--the fact of the matter is that the things they've done to harm this country will never be punished. Ever. There are too many people out there, like yourself Corrik, who look at the influx of hate crimes under this administration and the COVID death toll this year and say "Well that's just people misusing their free will. It's not Trump/the GOP's fault. You can't just pin the blame on them for what other people do." So when I hear that Trump of Trump's associates have caught a deadly disease that they SPECIFICALLY went around convincing America was a hoax at first, and then wasn't a big deal once it became apparently that it was no hoax, then yes, I'm hoping for divine retribution against people who are never going to be punished in ANY way for the harm they've caused to countless people.
