No, if you beat Wodin you're at a level where the majority of 5* abilities are trash. Just smash them for orbs or sell them for Hero Artifacts gill costs.

Ah okay, I suspected that was probably the case but wanted to make sure

I was able to reclear WOdin three times so I now have my level 99 Odin magicite! I want to use this in my physical decks too until I can beat a phys WOdin, right?

Yeah Wodin magicite is good for the opposing damage type for now. His chase won't do as much damage but it will still break cap most of the time.

Well, did one more pull and got Basch's sync and Balthier's dyad. Basch's sync would be good if I had another BDL for him but since I don't I think he still doesn't make the team over Vaan. Balthier's dyad will help some, would have rather had the sync or awakening but it's better than nothing.

Anyway, I decided to go ahead and finish getting all available hero gear max cap broken. I'm a bit worried I'll regret using the inventory space on some of these random characters at some point, but I was close enough that the collector in me couldn't resist.

Easy first try kill, though it ended up being almost 35 seconds anyway with a decent amount of time waiting around doing nothing since Odin was the only thing breaking his walls (if I hadn't screwed up my timing I probably could have used Vaan's bUSB to take out one of them).

Got off my lazy ass a bit and killed both versions of Kalavinka Striker

Physical team was:
Tifa AASB, Sync2, LBO
Galuf AASB1, Chain
Gladio AASB, Sync
Tyro Dyad, AASB

Mage team was:
Maria AASB, Sync2, 7* Chain
Emperor Sync, AASB1
Tellah CSB, AASB
Cait Sith AASB, USB2, Glint+
Mog hAASB2, AASB1, Glint+1

The physical team struggled quite a bit with doing enough damage fast enough. The mage team on the other hand was way faster, but the incoming damage is huge, so I'm pretty sure the dancing moogles couldn't have kept up if I didn't get a lot of lucky heal chases.

Dang I still haven't beaten physical Kalavinka Striker even with Dorgann's HA and Tifa's dualcast. I can't seem to do enough damage to clear phase 4 in time because Galuf is so weak and Dorgann only has 1 cap break. I wish I drew on the FFV banner but I don't want Kelgar and Xezat's stuff.

I'm thinking of Dream Selecting Tifa Sync 2 next time since with that, her dyad and awakening she should be good for the FF7 Nexus boss with Red XIII's imperils and hopefully I can finish KS off since it's an ATB sync. Dream Selects should be soon since the fest is over and maintenance is next week.

I've been trying to do XII Dragonking with what I have but I haven't had much success. I started with my typical Orran team, but his strengths seem less relevant when Vaan and Fran can both give themselves instant cast (Vaan USB1, Fran Sync) or high quickcast (Fran Awakening). So I tried Quina to get more damage from crit fixing but I can't keep her alive. So far my best run just got him down to 45%.

Figured since the Maria/Emperor duo carried me through Kalavinka, I might as well try to get the sub-30 on their Bahamut.

I had to roll with my not so great Guy (AASB only) because I wouldn't get Maria's IATB3 with only Emperor to trigger 6 chases.

Still got a reasonably comfortable sub-30 win at 27.05, despite Guy sucking pretty badly... turns out I didn't even activate any of his 6* nodes, no wonder he was awful.

Maintenance on the 20th... hopefully this one will give us the anima lens update if we're lucky! I've been waiting for that.

Wind magic Sandworm dead. Feels good to get another one of those done, especially since there's no Overdrive on this one.

I doubt I can do the others at this point, but this gives me some hope for the season 2 bosses with their improved rewards.

Tried holy magic weak wodin with the RW chain and I'm not sure it's gonna work... Rem was having a hard time even breaking cap early in the chain (well, I'm guessing it's possible since I have 5 BDL, but...)

The doom timer also seems super awkward; like, it seems like slots 2+4 would naturally die halfway through the second chain or something, which makes doing anything with those characters for the doom duration feel pretty questionable.

I believe the standard approach is to put your support and your chain user in slots 2 and 4, and then hold back any AASBs/etc you're lucky enough to carry until they are killed and revived. Nothing wrong with throwing out a Mog USB1 or the like, though, 'cause it's repeatable.

Ah yeah luckily because I've now honed it Mog's AA2 was up for most of the battle (plus Elarra sync+AA), so I had quite a bit of healing (if I wasn't enough I was considering lensing Aria's fire barrier USB, though I'm not sure that would have been worth giving up Mog or Elarra with nothing else for her). I used ST attacks to actually kill the pillars, but I used LL with Arc and then later Gogo's BSB to aoe down most of their health (I also got lucky and Odin's followup never showed up when a pillar was the lowest hp target)

All I have for Strago is his USB1 and OSB so I didn't even think to use him; didn't realize there was an additional reason beyond chain+LL access!

I totally wasted Ayames dyad finisher by using it right when her infusion ran out and on rage 3. Glad I picked a workable team; Ayame was obvious because I needed aoe for the tornados, but I wasnt sure if I should take Laguna (for whom I have literally nothing other than his CSB and an en-ice LMR) or RW the chain and take Cater (two AASBs, but only one infusion). I also considered taking Delita or Trey (with HE), but Snow had two BDLs so I went with him even though he has useless tank LMs. Also happy to have gotten away with not buying any HAs since Snows seemed kinda questionable.

I will likely just replace an Empower 15 with the new Empower 18 on my offensive magicite. 4 Empowers really doesn't seem worth it.

I'm not so sure about the Dampen 18. I have a "defensive" magicite for each element, but that one's currently HP Boon and Healing Boon.
The Dampen 18 would provide a lot of extra damage resistance, since I'd go from 23% to 30%, but I find both the HP Boon and the Healing Boon very useful. I'd probably have to shift one of these over to my offensive magicite, and replace the rather useless Fast Act.

Yeah, I think that actually sounds pretty good.
Offensive: Blessing 15, Stat Boon 10, Empower 18, Healing 15
Defensive: Blessing 15, Stat Boon 10, Dampen 18, HP Boon 8

I plan to have 3 Ifrit magicites, one with 2 HP boon, 2 empowers and 2 dampens. Plus there's gonna be a Dr. Mog's homework where you have to beat Ifrit so might as well.

An Ifrit with 18 dampen will nice for Nexus Salamander since he's the November Labyrinth.

2 Dampens on Ifrit in addition to Perdition's Blessing seems like overkill to me. Since you can only get 1 dampen 18, the other one would be a dampen 10. And since you also have Odin's Fire Seal, you're looking at:

18 + 15/2 + 15/4 + 10/8 = 30.5, which rounds to 31.
I feel that compares poorly to the 30 you can get with only the one Dampen I plan on using. There has to be a passive that's more useful than 1% less fire damage

Anyway, when it comes to magicites I'm too lazy to optimize to that extent. I just tried to build a set that would work pretty well together and now I rarely think about it all that much aside from making sure I have the right stat boost (attack or magic) and don't have like 4 HP boons or something.

I also had a devotion ticket that I have been saving for a few months now, which got me Rosa's Sync.

I got 1/11 Fran quickcast lmr. It's new and Fran doesn't have an instant cast first turn with her hero equipment so it's nice. But looks like I won't be able to beat physical Snow Giant day 1 tomorrow without a Balthier cap break now. But I can wait until the lab updates I suppose.

Magic I should be okay with Braska sync/awakening (and Hero artifacts!) Ace sync/awakening and Rubicante chain/awakening/dyad.

I'll have to read up on those orb mechanisms, but that looked reasonably doable. My physical fire team should be stronger than that. And my magic team is a lot stronger than the physical one.

I'm pretty optimistic - magic team has 6 cap breaks (one ATB sync for Papalymo), gen 2 chain and two LBO options, with Cait for support. Phy team is a little weaker but has 6 cap breaks counting a Dyad, and gen 2.5 chain for Balthier. I'm kinda thinking of honing Delita's awakening since he's strong in 4 elements but has no dyads/awoken dyads coming in the next six months. I'll only do it if I need to to beat this fight though.

Got through three manual laby runs with the new (low level) dungeons. Encounter rates in explorations are definitely lower, though I was getting an absolutely insane number of +2 fatigues with them. I got one record marker drop and three magic pots across those dungeons.

Thankfully it looks like S1 dungeons still give points towards S2; I'm planning on doing all of my QEs there since as I understand it the S2 dungeons give fewer crystals/motes/etc and way fewer markers from QE.

I'm definitely getting Labyrinth points way more frequently than before in Exploration paintings. And the doors with enemy or treasure vault feel rarer.

Definitely very different from season 1, even ignoring the hidden portals.

Yeah, lot of point paintings. Things go faster overall.

Really? He doesn't seem that bad compared to Abductor or Armor Construct. The Anti-heal sucks but I use Deuce awakening around that.
