Watched the first Biscuit Hammer episode and this is such dissapointing bullshit. Looks like absolute garbage and the pacing and directing is atrocious. What a disaster of an adaptation.

I was gonna say "shame that it doesn't look great" but the planet with vibes are coming through.

The only problem with Planet With was the sound mixing. Mech battles way too loud (on headphones at least). Everything else about it was great

The mix of seriousness and goofiness is so unique I don't see how you can miss it.

It is like Planet With in theory and it's very good.

But I cannot recommend watching this show. If you have even the smallest iota of interest, go read the manga.

Or if you refuse to read the manga for something that has an..."anime", go read Spirit Circle, which after this mess will NEVER get an anime

You never know what might get an anime! Netflix recently released two shows based off manga from the 80s (Spriggan and Bastard Heavy Metal or whatever). Spirit Circle might get adapted in 2050

I was gonna counter myself and say that AssClass still got a show after the Neuro anime was a tragedy, but AssClass was a popular high selling SJ manga so not exactly the same.

Eh, bad anime can still lead to successful stories. I would think of all things, this writing can shine through.

I couldn't believe it if I thought it, but I think Spy x Family finally unseated Bebop as my favorite anime. The last scene of episode 12 is just so adorable and stupid and fun. I died laughing. I'll have to sit on it some more, but Anya forcing Loid and Yor to bring plushies out in public to buy her peanuts was so adorable.

That and watching OPs and EDs back nearly every 2-3 days probably means something too...

if you told me this was the least regarded part of the series I'd believe you

and on a related note finished the golden age movie trilogy

they were fine, but obviously was missing a lot of content and just hit the big moments of the arc

The Lost Children Arc is an important arc for representing Guts state of mind and putting context into his advancements as a character in the overall Berserk mythos.

It's pretty whatever in the moment, though. Similar to how the Black Sword an arc feels pretty throwaway when you're first starting out, but it matters a lot in the grand scheme.

Parallel World Pharmacy is shaping up to be one of the rare decent isekai anime! The things I don't like about it are kind of inherent to the genre. Main dude has OP protagonist powers. There's zero actual explanation for why he isekai'd in the first place (it was so refreshing in Executioner last season to have actual rules to isekai-ing so it happened often). Still, it looks like he'll use his OP powers for fantasy medical research and I find that interesting. It's also doing some neat things with how people are reacting to him being a different person, especially by the end of the episode. I don't think it'll be the best anime ever or anything but I'm enjoying this so far.

As for the other show, I kind of hated the first episode of Call of the Night. This is going to be the anime of the season that everyone loves except for me, I guess. It reminded me of one of the bad arcs in Monogatari. Boring protagonist dude runs into manic pixie dream girl vampire and of course she finds him immediately irresistible. I laughed out loud at the end of the episode, minor spoilers from episode one if anyone cares about that. Dude: "I want to fall in love with you!" Vampire "Whatever, I won't stop you but I won't do anything to help you fall in love with me. Now come on, I'm going to help you fly through a beautiful nighttime cityscape, one of the most magical and romantic things possible." It was so awful.

It wasn't a particularly great first episode, but from what fans have said it's not a particularly great first chapter either.

Pretty standard, I'd say. I don't think Call of the Night has particularly bad or good chapters, it has a very consistent feel. Which is to say, I was very satisfied with the first episode and expect the same of the rest of the adaptation.

I also watched Lycoris Recoil and enjoyed it quite a bit, though I worry it will end up taking itself too seriously. Currently it's high quality and lots of fun, so I hope it stays that way.

Not sure if I'll try anything else, but I'll probably watch Devil is a Part-Timer, or at least try to; I like the LN pretty well and wouldn't mind seeing more of it.

AHHHH dammit, the last chapter of Dasei 67% just came out, I had no idea it was even ending!

I rewatched Kakuriyo: Bed and Breakfast for Spirits this weekend. It isn't the greatest anime ever, but I enjoyed it a lot for what it is. Aoi, a woman who can see ayakashi spirits, gets kidnapped to the hidden realm to marry an ogre god. But she's like 'hell no' and opens a restaurant instead. I love her as a protagonist. I also appreciate how this anime mixes various subgenres without getting bogged down by any of them. Like, she's cooking all the time but I'd never call it food porn. There's a romance angle, almost a love triangle, but Aoi is such a strong character that she isn't defined by her suitors and there's never any real drama there. Kakuriyo has flaws, mainly in the relatively cheap production at times, but I like how relaxing it is.

One Piece chapter 908: Did that last panel imply what I think it was implying? Did Kami Enel/Eneru take control of the five elders, and by extension the world government?? I say its him only because the silhouette looks like the Kami. But that doesnt make a ton of sense so its probably someone else lol.

Dressrosa was a great place to live as long as you weren't a toy

First episode of Shine Post was pretty good. I was expecting this to be the bargain bin idol anime of the season, like Music Girls a few years ago, but this actually had some decent dance segments. The characters are all fun, and even the generic main dude has a neat twist.

In my continuing quest to rewatch my old favorites, I finished rewatching A.I.C.O.: Incarnation. Even years later, I'm still sad that the dub for this was so terrible. The fact that Netflix hired crappy foreign language voice actors to do an English dub wound up being the only thing anyone ever said about this. That controversy obscured just how amazing everything else about AICO is. It has great action scenes against a neat enemy. I love the Burst, it's so alien and cool and all the pseudoscience surrounding it is interesting. The action scenes are strategic rather than just mindless shooting because they need to counter specific mutations. The story is so laser-focused on its goal as they progress up the river, with the dams providing checkpoints even as their gear slowly wears down. Aiko herself is such a great character too. This anime remains one of the most perfect stories I've ever seen, every little thing about it appeals to me so much.

I also rewatched Revue Starlight the other day. It was still really good, but it did fall a little in my ranking. Nothing can ever replicate the magic of watching that first episode thinking it'd be just a cute show about girls doing theater, not knowing what was coming. Hikari annoyed me a lot more on rewatch than she did the first time too. I still love almost everything about this anime though, the Revues are all great, the singing is great, and the animation is great. I also love the endless symbolism about theater that's woven into the story. Every time I think about something I swear I find new ways that it ties into the themes. It's a really impressive, artistic story. I guess there was a Revue Starlight movie last year, but anime movies almost never appear on streaming services for some reason so I guess I'll never see it. Ah well.

I still haven't watched the new dub.

It's kind of shame that the old dub is just gone forever, as hilarious as it was. I don't THINK it got ripped, so it may be lost media??

So now it just seems like an excuse to check in on what's going on outside of Wano a couple of times during the arc.

If anyone here has Disney+ and can check, is Summer Time Rendering actually available on it? It sounds really good but for all I know everyone is pirating the episodes because good ol' Disney is waiting until it's over.

It's streaming weekly in most regions outside of America, but not here. Being Givin the full Netflix Jail treatment and left out to dry. Have to pirate, real tragedy.

Aw, lame. Hopefully they don't wait until six months after it's over like Netflix used to. I'm glad it doesn't look like Disney got anything significant this season.
