Actually no. Funny story about that. Given the draconian drug laws in Japan (in the real life), it often seems like the Yakuza series goes to lengths to avoid including illegal drugs in any of their stories. It's funny because the real life yakuza make a considerable amount of their income from the drug trade, but if you play the games, you'd think they only made money from protection, gambling, and the sex trade.

I remember reading that some anime voice actor got caught with child porn and only got a slap on the wrist. But when another one got caught with cocaine, he was ostracized to hell lol

Anyway, JCC is one of the worst minigames in the series and 90% of that is because there's a "mash" mechanic in the rock-paper-scissors element that straight up lies to you about whether it's working or not.

One of my favorite jokes in Yakuza 0 is one I absolutely would not have caught if I'd played it before the other games.

There's a substory where you meet the big bad from Yakuza Kiwami 2, except he's a kid. More specifically, he's a giant 9-year-old who beats up high schoolers and steals their pants. That shit is hilarious

Only thing I would have included in a picture collage of "The Shrink-Wrapped Dream" is the dialogue box that says "Begin your dubious quest!"

LMAOOO, the "Sugar Daddy" substory is fucking hilarious >_> I must've missed this one

Basically some businessman had a failing business and his wife divorced him and took his daughter after he lost it. Years later, he found a hostess working that looks just like his daughter. So you find out she has the exact same backstory that lines up with what this guy said. So you get them together to reunite, but it turns out they're not related. They just happen to share the same backstory as a coincidence. So they get drunk together while the woman calls him "Daddy" and I guess it's implied that the guy is sorta attracted to her sexually now that she isn't related? lol

This game is such a gift.

Tbh I only experienced burnout twice while playing the series back to back. Once was during 5 because that game drags like a motherfucker, and once during 0 because it's at the end of my run and I don't like the mechanics as much as 6. I just picked 0 back up.

Ye, some people are weird. Problem is that they've taken hold as a pretty dominant force in Japan (technically around the world as well, though in different ways) so there is a lot of catering done to them across media that comes out of Japan.

I just checked that out now. I dont usually watch him, so I didnt know what to expect, but he was pretty fair about his assessment, which is more than I can say of ANN. The comparisons to Spice and Wolf or Mushoku Tensei/Jobless Reincarnation are pretty spot-on.

Really wish they'd add more of these games to PS+ since playing LaD, 0, Kiwami, and Kiwami 2 all in a row just leaves me wanting to play 3 and 6 to finish out the series(played 4 and 5 when they were on PSNow, seems they're gone from PS+). Exploring the same cities over and over is a bit tiring but the combat and substories are just so damn fun.
