Also battle passes. And they cost $10. And you need to complete the battle pass to unlock new heroes. And you need to unlock new heroes to queue for competitive. Fucking great, everything Blizzard touches fucking dies.

Also somebody crunched the numbers, it takes like 8 months of playing basically a fully time job to catch up to the people that bought the battlepass.

I'll probably just watch the story on Youtube and not touch it.

If all the changes weren't bad enough, the fact that it's replacing OW1 completely is the worst decision ever.

Im just morbidly curious to see for myself what this is like. Instant 20,000 player queue. Was about to give up and try tomorrow after 15 minutes then it just shot down to 10k. I assume its going to get to less than 1000 then just kick me from queue because Blizzard.

Okay surprisingly I actually got to play for like an hour before I got randomly kicked from servers melting. I like how it looks. I like how it sounds. It feels really slow though compared to OW1? Like maybe 5% slower? Idk. Also do I seriously have to requeue after every match? Theres no auto queue? Is that right or am I missing something?

Oh apparently the servers actually did crash for real and Blizz had to take them down lol oh well. I actually got to play more than I expected to. And also I played a lot of new maps! Some cool new design, but often times I had trouble finding healthpacks. Like I'd run around for 2 minutes and not find a single one.

I can't believe Blizzard actually killed OW1 for this. I've never heard of any company deleting a game entirely the day a sequel comes out. And it's not even a sequel. I've jumped around several Twitch streams and it's the exact same game. All the maps are exactly the same. Even the hero abilities are the same. The only thing new are the characters, which just as easily could have been added to OW1. This has to be one of the most lackluster sequels of all time. Asked me years ago and I would have told you there was nothing stopping me from getting OW2. But as soon as Jeff Kaplan left, I knew this game was in trouble. I can't believe they screwed this up so terribly.

Its more akin to an expansion pack than a sequel.

Splatoon's servers got shut down almost immediately after Splatoon 2 came out. The single-player campaign still exists, of course, but that might as well have completely killed the game.

Overwatch had stopped providing a cash flow.

Like Papercup said, it's not really a sequel in the traditional sense. It's just an excuse to adjust the monetization strategy and get new eyes on the game.

And that's terrible

All the changes to gameplay killed my interest. monetization and free to play elements just nails it in further.

That's what annoys me, I like 6v6, now it just looks like it's copying every other Esport gamelike CSGO or R6, I suppose OW has always been desperate to catch that Esport crowd.

blizzard has a thing about balancing their games for the .05% of people that actually get into it. that's the most annoying thing.

I think that's most games nowadays, Influencer/Pro Player complains about a gun they don't like, then all their fart sniffing drones also complain and then it gets nerfed or "fixed." It happened to R6 Siege.

I really miss when a game would come out and that's just how the game was, you might get a patch every 6 months or when an expansion dropped but that was it.

Apparently youre supposed to have everything unlocked and keep your cosmetics if you played OW1. Apparently nobody had anything carry over, and heroes you could play yesterday you just cant play anymore just because.

So it just sits me in queue for about 3 minutes then tells me to login so I do that then it puts me further behind the queue, repeat ad nauseam. Looks like I'm not playing today either. :thumbsup:

at least classic lets you log in eventually.

Got to play a little bit before randomly getting kicked to a queue. They changed some maps time of day like Bushan is at night now and looks gorgeous. Kings Row is at evening, etc. kinda throws me for a loop

All the maps I played that returned from OW1, they were identical as far as I could tell. Also reddit says 2CP was removed from regular rotation. So Volskaya, Hanamura, Paris, Egypt, these maps are just gone outside of custom games. Hopefully some of these maps return as other modes like Volksaya redesigned to be a Push map could be cool.

Edit: but CP/Payload hybrid maps like Eichenwald and King's Row are still in regular rotation

there's a large push in various communities to get studios to ignore the "pro streamers" when they complain about something, because what they complain about is usually something that only they run into, and any fixing for it usually results in changing a bunch of unrelated stuff that makes it worse for the actual majority of the community

They're already removing the phone number requirement because they were getting some really bad press over basically saying "oh you have a prepaid phone? fuck you, too poor to play our game"

The game doesn't recognize any OW1 players right now so everybody has to do it if they want to play.

I can confirm when I did get in for a short time yesterday, the game did in fact recognize that I was an OW1 veteran

None of my friends or myself have our stuff, across multiple platforms.

Havent tried today though maybe the patch last night fixed it.

They recognize them just fine. They just choose not to care.
