gamebots who all seem to be playing for interchangeable Cody/Jesse to succeed.
Edgic talk/winner speculation: Yeah, after last week's episode I am 100% convinced that the winner is Cody or Jesse. They are Dom/Wendell-ing this thing and as soon as Gabler actually cast some doubt on them leading up to tribal and nothing came of it I was like "there's the smoking gun - the winner is from that pair."

I didn't really feel like Noelle had any more personality than the rest of them. This season, it felt like they're using interesting backstories to make you root for these people instead of their personalities, and Noelle's backstory was the one with the most screentime.
Noelle had the "leg jokes" line and "It's time to vote, right?" exchange with Jeff. Her hyper-competitiveness and sense of self-deprecation are traits more identifiable than anything most of the others have. Gabler, Cody, and Sami are the others, but even Cody's gotten dull, and Sami's arrogance isn't exactly an endearing trait.

Please note that Noelle doesn't have the same complex personality as castaways from better seasons. She just stands out in this bunch of bores.

Yeah... I can't see anyone other than Cody, Jesse, or Gabler winning it all at this point, edit-wise. Gabler needs to take them both out, but with two idols between them, I don't see that happening unless the guys get extraordinarily cocky. At which point they should be talked about as among the dumbest Survivors ever. But that's a possibility. Gabler's definitely gonna try something.

And you do have a point about Edgic. They look for whatever semi-attractive young female they can latch onto and justify their thinking backwards. I used to be guilty of that, but Cassidy ain't winning. I'm just not going to mention that on Reddit because I get downvoted to hell, and once Cassidy loses I will be like "SEE? I told you guys that Cassidy wasn't winning." That said, I blocked a couple of jerks who mocked me for daring to challenge them.

Cassidy is basically getting Erika's edit, but without the supplemental evidence to her strategy. Erika had the "lamb to lion" confessional and her edit was thus a slow burn, but it still showed that she had agency in the game and was involved in numerous moves to build that up. Cassidy is a bystander, perhaps by choice, but she's not seen as a big threat likely because she isn't. S41 was Erika's story, how she appeared on the radar late in the game and won it all. S42 was Maryanne's story, but she was shown from the beginning as a relevant player. Cassidy has just been kinda there all season. And Edgic is latching onto a couple of confessionals of hers as if they were winner quotes that the others don't have... when some of them do.

I think it comes down to whether or not Jesse plays the idol(s) when Gabler targets him. If he does, Jesse wins. If he doesn't, Gabler wins.

What would have happened in the very unlikely event that Tim & Rex made the final leg? I'm curious what stipulations there were for Rex's casting, because they can't have a pre-determined placement for him. Obviously they picked him since he's a very memorable NFL coach despite not having too great a legacy. (The interim head coach of my college team, who's leaving after the bowl game, is one of the extremely few guys on his coaching tree. He played for Rex but was his most trusted field general, so it counts.)

Happy for Derek and Claire. They've really made the most of their time on CBS. The experience on BB and The Challenge certainly helped.

Ah every year I get disappointed towards the end of the CBS reality shows' runs and this year is no exception... undesirable results on both fronts last night, certainly a less colourful Survivor finale without the most colourful character. Guess I'm all-in on Jesse now, but I'm bracing for Karla at this point (if they don't get her out at F5 they all deserve to lose, frankly). 100% has to be one of those two.

Now somebody help me out here, I could have swore Amazing Race was confirmed returning for new season March 1 (same day as Survivor's return) but checking thefutoncritic now and I don't see anything for it. Was I imagining the next-season announcement? or did they announce, then withdraw to keep it in reserve for a mid-season replacement (or the Fall if nothing needs replacing)? Damn...

I take it that means S44 is all new contestants again? That would make 4 consecutive seasons of no returning players which hasn't happened since... wikipedia check... yeah what I thought, seasons 16 through 19. Some returning gimmick for S45, surely?

16 had returnees. The last four season stretch with no returnees was 12 through 15. The only other stretch that length or longer was the first seven seasons.

Season 16 had returning players.

It's 12 through 15.

Oh man I just glazed over Micronesia, lol. Thanks for the correction there.

Well still, the last full slate of non-winner returnees was 34 Game Changers... plenty of good characters in the 35-39, 41-43 (and ideally 44) stretch worth getting their additional moment in the sun? Even if they go halfsies with FvF3.

Literally and figuratively been years since my hopes for Lauren but especially Victoria from EoE to get another chance.... though knowing that season we know who'd be returning for sure!

They should give one or both of those two another go. Especially if they want eye candy, since both of them are good, knowledgeable players that are also very easy on the eyes.

Rick Devens is a 100% surefire returnee from that season because Probst, and it wouldn't surprise me to see Reem or The Wardog either. Pretty much all of the potential returnees started on Manu save for Victoria, maybe Aurora.

Keep in mind I don't know who would accept and who'd decline.

I think Jeff has made a lot of confusing comments in interviews where he sort of implied they only wanted returnees from the post-40 era, but then walked it back and said that wasn't the case. I think it's still the case they wanted to build up this "new era" with more first-timer seasons though, maybe they will try to lean on these seasons for more returnees, but there's no way they can snub Christian and other fan favourites.

yeah Victoria, and Sydney from 41, are that perfect combination. Victoria really was edit-shafted, she's hilarious; at least Sydney got lots of great moments before being screwed over. Both are very cute (Victoria way cuter)

darkx's list is pretty good but also more than a few names I'm groaning at the prospect of seeing again (is there really a clamoring for Dr. Mike, or returning winners).... also should be no Gabby if Christian and Angelina are the season locks that they really should be

Maryanne deserves a second appearance even though she did win. Erika not so much. Same with Tommy and Chris. Jesse's the only person left this season that I think could deserve a second season if they win, so Cody as the sole 43 rep is fine.

And I doubt we'll see Mike White again. Jeff seems to think that casting him was a mistake due to their friendship, so it's not going to happen even without Mike's busy schedule.

Kellee went full Haskell. No chance she'll even pick up the phone.

I've also heard CBS doesn't want anyone back from that season because they want everyone to forget about it for equally obvious reasons. And since half the cast wanted to call production out for the incident at the reunion. Specifically for casting Feely to create that conflict then taking no responsibility for it.
