I had one of those, it was maddening

So I made my way back up to 50 which was the level tier I left off at last season and then immediately got on a losing streak down to 47

I got this far by being able to read the obvious Turn 6 move and playing accordingly to either best counter it or retreat. Simple stuff but it worked, Im sure we all do something like that.

Now Im running into opponents who know what Im doing and play the counter to the counter to the obvious Turn 6 move. I cant think that deeply within the time limit! This is exactly why I never was any good at chess or fighting games, lol. I just cant process shit like that, and Im 41 years old so I think its too late now.

Sounds like you should just play your obvious move and let them blunder. In other words, 2 levels of yomi is often equivalent to 0 levels.

One of these days Ill remember that Destroyer exists and that if somebody sets up Professor X theres about a 90% chance thats what theyre going to use next

Seems like it would be easier to just set up a Cosmo lane to play Destroyer in without the destruction, just making him Hulk+3

But I guess his full potential is if he IS destroying specific cards and not others

Certainly Ive seen him used with Cosmo or with an Armor lane, but for whatever reason I never predict it after a Professor X

Interaction I did not expect that worked out in my favor:

My opponent played Valkyrie on the lane with one of my Devil Dinosaurs, but it did not reduce its power to 3

Or rather, it did reduce its base power to 3which it already is

The Ongoing effect of the card still persists after she fucks with the base power I guess, and that should be true of all Ongoing cards

Another interaction I was willing to lose the game to test:

If you play Magik at Dark Dimension, after the cards there reveal at the end of Turn 6, she DOES turn the location into Limbo, but there is NOT a Turn 7

I think the way Limbo works is similar to Floodingthe locations effect doesnt start until it starts a turn that way. A not-uncommon scenario is as follows

-turn 3 Storm turns a location into Flooding. One of the other locations is Mirror Dimension.
-turn 4 that Storm location is Flooding. Mirror Dimension turns into Flooding. Storms location turns into Flooded at the end of turn.
-turn 5 the second Flooding remains open and becomes Flooded at end of turn.

The first time you come across this, you might expect that the second one would also become fully Flooded at the same time as the first, but it doesnt.

I would assume a Scarlet Witch on turn 6 changing a location to Limbo would also have no effect. Does a Scarlet Witch turning a location to TVA on turn 4 end the game? Id bet that also doesnt work, since you wouldnt get the Times Up animation at the start of the turn.

I'm not sure I've ever seen Scarlet Witch change into TVA so that might not be an option.

But SW changing to limbo would definitely work on turn 6. Magik used to be able to be played on turn 6 before she got nerfed.

I think Dark Dimension is just a special case because it happens at the game end state aka after the "turn" segment of the game. If Magik gets draw out via lockjaw or jubilee on turn 6 the game still goes on to 7

Yeah Dark Dimension and IW trigger in a weird "Game is over" phase. So adding a 7th turn to the game doesn't really mean anything when the game is already over.

It's like when you get Limbo and TVA in the same game. Sure there's a hypothetical turn 7 but the game is already over.

Anyone else feel like the way they do events sucks?

The fact that you have to click into a submenu that isn't always showing by default to "submit" your credits toward the event, and then they reset at the end of the day, is just so stupid.

I think everyone thinks the way they do events sucks. Lol How they did not build the interface around knowing they would be adding these is wild to me.

Also I'm getting pretty tired of Silver Surfer decks.

You still cant even do the events on desktop version.

I swear to fucking God this game hates me.

They knew the events system would suck but it was their lowest priority. Fair I'd say given how polished everything else is. It also seems like the events page uses html, which is way easier to do experiments with and is prob run by a completely different marketing-focused team.

I will say this though, I love when people play hobgoblin and think they have secured a lane just for Dracula to almost completely negate it with a 24 power apocalypse discard.

Hobgoblin was really messing me up in my destroy deck because most of my destroy cards were already played or it would be played in a lane where destroying it would lose me the lane anyway but I don't think I've had a game with my discard decks where it has affected me once.

Oops. To be fair my board did not have Jubilee or Negative Iron Man/Mystique/Surfer pairs at the start of turn 6 and he played leader but yeah. Completely absurd board state there.

When the X-Mansion plays Mysterio, its just the real 4 power one already revealed. No illusion ones.

It would be kinda pointless since you would obviously know which one was the real one. Though that doesn't stop other useless cards from appearing with X-Mansion.

If you pull Mysterio out of your deck with Jubilee he also doesn't make illusions.

The card does say "as you play", "you" and "play" both being important words there

The Symbiote from the new location is a 1-cost with no ability (it doesn't keep any abilities of the absorbed cards), so Elektra might not be bad to keep handy, or Killmonger if you're fine with losing yours too

Also it won't merge the power from an ongoing ability like Devil Dinosaur, just the base power

It just occurred to me that my favorite thing about this game is how the most obscure characters are such staples. Why did they even do it that way? Are they building up to a White Queen vs Devil Dinosaur movie? Are we getting a 10 episode series of Enchantress and Cosmo going around screwing with people? With the popularity of this game anything's possible.

Cosmo is in the Guardians holiday special and the upcoming movie, so maybe theres some kind of strategy there

but I cant explain Infinauts ubiquity at all

Yeah, its not a destroy action like Venom. Best things to use for it are powerful cards with negative Ongoings.

Saw a YouTuber do a Kamar Taj/Wong/Odin/Gambit combo to just snipe off an entire 8 cards with only 3 cards in his hand

That will HAVE to get nerfed to him only being able to kill by discarding actual cards, right?

Just retreated for 1 cube in a game and the other guy started spamming the Thanos snap emoji.
