Let's assume for a second that Ben is scum here.

Ben fakeclaims and gets Isquen into the lead. Isquen isn't around (Ben knows this we know). Han's reasoning includes well Ben is day rolecop and this is super strong. Ben thinks maybe this will flip arsonist (if he is fireproof) he isn't sure, but regardless, it's apparent people are going to expect more scans from him either way the following days. Thus, he changes his claim now that he got Isquen into the lead.

Now, Isquen showing up here I think possibly makes Ben claim the flavor claim instead of jumping straight to the fireproof claim. It seemed very tacked on and poorly thought out. It does get Ben a lot of votes on Isquen though initially, mostly due to Isquen slowly responding here and some questions about his role that he isn't giving up freely.

Ben then jumps to the final claim which would of course require nothing of him.

Not that said... there is very many interesting things here and god would a scum flip or a ben flip here answer a lot.

Is JC/Ben scum scum.

Is JC/Death scum scum and Ben is town?

If JC is scum with Death and Ben is town... why does JC go against the Ben is scum read to vote Isquen, even to the point of putting Isquen -1 when it's a town/town scenario.

That might not even require Death to be scum either. It might be as simple as JC isn't likely scum if Ben is town regardless. They are either scum together or JC is town and Ben is whatever alignment.

Hey I made no secret of not feeling a JC lynch.
At the time I genuinely felt Ben was acting worse/had done less.

Yeah it's BCT twice and plum who I also don't feel great about

conversely I like everyone on the Scare train

Also at some point BCT came around to calling me bad town instead of scum

I am catching up here in the dead hours. Will be around for the rest of the day, which unfortunately still means until some hours before deadline because deadline is very late.

I did try to get a better read of Scare by looking at him aside from the shot but it's not that easy too. The only past experience with him I have is that I replaced him in SW&P where he at no point seems to be that invested. We were town with no powers that game. He seems slightly more invested here, but it might just be because he has been in focus more. Otherwise it doesn't seem that different to me. Ultimately, more than how Scare killing Lopen as scum makes little sense (quite frankly, that makes no sense as town either), I don't see a scum team that agrees on that play.

Not sure what to make of chang claiming roleblocked for nothing atm, but he's probably town if a roleblocker exists. A note for another time.

And just because I just got a point where it was argued that sometimes scumboards aren't that active and they don't necessarily coach each other that much. This isn't about coaching how good anyone looks in some random posts, it's using a damn killing shot.

I also see Scare did post a list of reads, but its mostly townreads and while he admitted to not having been able to do any scumhunting yet, I cant even see what he wants to do now.

Yeah I might be in a glass house throwing stones here.
So in my own fairness, I dont think they are bad reads.
I am less confident about Ben than him. But the rest seems agreeable.

I do want ctes to answer a question though. ctes, when you kept your vote on Ben you said "If Isquen is town I really doubt Ben is scum." (Topic 4 post 50, once again). But then today you said "I still think Ben looks terrible". Why the flip?

I went to sleep with the idea that Ben did actually have role cop powers and it would seem that he did not after all. Meant they really didn't have to be linked and that my analysis was based on false assumptions.

I feel like I'm pretty good at reading Scare. Never forget my successful fake scan gambit in FFXIV. I don't see scum Scare here. He seems consistent and his reads make sense. Scum Scare I feel like tends to say things that make it obvious he isn't reading the game and then ignore any questions about it.

That sentence came out a bit weird, but I'm sure the point is clear.

I think the best thing plum has going for him with the whole let's kill Scare and then hesitate is that he had just replaced in and there's a limit of how much he could've thought about everything, but plum not answering that well to it today is not a great look.

I don't think Scare and Ben are that linked to be honest, all four (or more I suppose) permutations seem possible to me. If they are both town then I think JC looks worse based on how quickly that train died down, but I'd reread the end of day 1 regardless. I'm liking JC at the moment. The simplest answer is probably that Ben is scum and just does crazy things.

Yeah, I'm a bit hung up on BCT. But what you call chiming in, I call gathering info to help me get reads. Tomato Tomato.

I'm not attempting to pull anyone off of scare or Ben. frankly I'm not even voting for BCT (mainly cause I don't want him to freak out about it) at the moment.

Scare has circumstance and isquens flip against him but I haven't seen anything inherently scummy about him. His reason for his shot timing is rough but no one can knock his choice it was too early in the game to determine anyone's alignment.

Ben has town equity in the way he played his arson card. But there is a lot of scum equity there too and this is the same person who as scum neighbors Sir Chris... so we have that against him.

Personally I lynch Ben over Scare. We COULD have two vigs. that's not unheard of. Ben's games though, I've seen them from both sides of the aisle.

Who do you think I should vote, Lea? You, who I lean more being Town than Scum, who has really only one statement that truly bothered me this game, or Plum who has put you on his Scumlist opposite the people you are trying to lynch with zero reason why?

Sometimes when I am frustrated in mafia games I do this thing where I get increasingly more belligerent and apathetic.

Instead of doing that I recognized that work has been brutal lately and channeling that frustration into mafia was not a good idea.

I think the plan is going to be to focus on Scare. Some heat was put on me for having a nonsensical scum team? Was that team nonsensical? Possibly. It was mostly a collection of individual reads because I didn't have the energy to try and collectively evaluate them. I'm still not going to try to do that as I am a follower of the one at a time school of thought.

So lets start with scare. Lets see if he had a consistent thought process leading up to and through the Lopen shot

Eh, not seeing it enough to be convinced it couldn't be faked. On day 1 I pointed out that he was talking himself into feeling strong about a read and then did nothing and his response was basically just it being lazy. But sure.

TL;DR: Scare seems surprisingly consistent leading up to the kill. Doesn't make sense as a town kill or a scum kill. What happened to Isquen?

Funny enough Corrik on Scare reiterates my concern about a Ben/Corrik scum team.

I'll need to look over corrik's posts again to make sure I'm not missing a good Corrik argument but that again seems to be low hanging fruit.

That said, in retrospect, Isquen was obvtown. His claim made no sense from a Scum perspective.

I think this is an indictment on a scum ben who was 3rd party hunting, because I thought at lynch 3rd party was most likely. It didn't feel like a scum claim, but the way the claim unfolded was near nonsensical.

Town sometimes does absurdly scummy things I suppose, but it felt much more likely that the slow unfolding of the claim came from an anti town player trying to leave the door open than town
