Jesus Christ, how old are you guys? 60? If you're between 25-40 like I assume most of CE is, that's way too young to have so many dead family members.

Im not even 30 yet. One grandmother had cancer. The other was up there but had health issues. Grandfather had cancer(again never met him) and Dad had a heart attack.

That's how it goes sometimes

All 4 grandparents and their siblings. 4 uncle's, and an aunt. 3 first cousins.
Guess I'll do a breakdown of how they died.

Dad's father was murdered before I was born. Gas station robbery he walked in on, and got gutted because of it.

Mom's dad died of an aneurysm. He was told when it burst he'd die instantly. He did not. He had time to know he was dying.

Uncle #1, drank himself to death. He was in awful pain due to a back injury and couldn't get disability. Destroyed his liver.

Cousin #1, was 31 iirc. Also of an aneurysm. This one in his brain while he was getting ready for work.

Mom's mom died of kidney failure. It was caused by another relative trying to kill her a few years prior which killed her one kidney, so when she delayed going to hospital over her other one it was too late.

Uncle #2, not terribly long after mom's mom went. He was also drinking himself to death, but had recently been on medication for his heart. He had to stop drinking, which was a huge struggle for him. One night his friends visited and found him unconscious. Instead of getting help they spent the night pouring whiskey down his throat. He didn't survive.

Cousin #2, was 37 iirc. Committed suicide after his wife left him and took their child with her.

Dad's mother died under suspicious circumstances. She had been ill, and put on medication to help her manage, but her drugged out kids and grandkids kept stealing it to sell. Without it she went downhill and one night she ended up dead after her caretakers just left her to get their own drugs.

Aunt died a severe respiratory illness late January 2020. We don't think it was COVID, but the timing fits.

Uncle #3. Dad's brother had cancer and had his leg amputated. The cancer returned and he didn't make it.

Uncle #4. Also of cancer, pretty close to a year after my aunt.

Cousin #3 also drank himself to death. He was 41 iirc. His doctor's thought they caught it in time. He stopped cold turkey to save his life, but continued to deteriorate. They thought he could recover, but it just slowly and painfully killed him over a couple months. He ended up comatose for a few weeks before finally passing.

Oh fuck off. I'm not trolling. I'm in genuine shock at the amount of dead family members CEmen have. I expect people who are 60, maybe even 50+ to start having lists of dead family. Not people barely 30.

No, it's weird because literal generations of your ancestors are all dead.

If the TC means "has anyone that YOU KNOW in your family died?", that's a different question

Actually your interpretation of the question is what's weird. Bordering on ridiculousness.

25. But my parents had me when they were 36, which I think is way later than when most people have children. My grandparents died from old age. One uncle I think got cancer. The other killed himself.

Friends,

I am 60, so my mom and dad are gone.

My mom left me $540,000 dollars, so that help soften the blow.

I still remember things they said. its like those memories haunt you.

When I look at a plug in Bread toaster, I think, " it will burn the house down" like my dad said
50 years ago.

I recently digitized some 30 year old home movies and its jarring seeing all the now-deceased people constantly showing up.
Yeah. I was sent by my father a dvd about 10 years ago of the time right after I moved around 95-96. It had my sister, my father, my business partner and me. It was at a restaurant. I ran it through a upscaler. Back then video from the first gen compact videos cameras were pretty grainy. I watched it recently and thought this is the only real video of 2 of the 3 most important people in my life. The 3rd I have just audio recordings of voicemails

Sometimes its eerie watching and listening

I only have one grandma left and she's near the end it seems.
Grandpa died of a heart attack.
Other Grandpa died of Alzheimer's... that one was rough. Anyone who has had a family member or someone close to them go through that understands.
Grandma died of a stroke. She used to make pancakes and cut them so they looked like a sunflower, it was really cool.
I almost lost my Dad a year ago from a heart attack but it was caught in time and he recovered, it's still always on my mind though.

I am 37, I would say early to mid 30s is about the time a lot of people start losing grandparents depending on how old they were when they had your parents and how old your parents were when they had you.

Lost both sets of grand parents (3 out of 4 were when I was an adult and 2 of them were right before covid and about a year into it)
1 set of Great grandparents that were still alive until I was around 20
1 Great aunt who the family had stopped talking to about 5 years ago
An uncle about a year and a half before Covid, days before Christmas
and recently 2 cousins who were both younger than me, one to suicide and one to cancer.

That is not counting other relatives I never met, because I know both of my grandmother's sisters died not long after her. Also an uncle when he got hit by a car but that was even before my dad was born that we all knew about but never really talked about. My mom is 1 of 7 children so I can imagine there will be some more over the next 10 - 15 years because a few of them or their spouses have health problems that I can see catching up with them.

Age is only one factor (and even then people could be born to older parents or those parents could have older family members etc). I know someone who lost her Dad in a motorcycle accident when she was a teenager.

30+ years is a long period of time where a lot of stuff can happen. Some people are luckier than others. Would be nice if most people didn't have a list of dead family members until they're 60 but life doesn't work that way.

It isn't that far-fetched when you consider that average life expectancy has actually been going down. Many people have terrible diets or a sedentary lifestyle that can have devastating impacts on their health.

One of my grandmothers died 15.5 years before I was born. She was 31 years old.

My other grandmother died, aged 94, when I was 25. Her husband died when I was 11, aged 75 (he had no voice box for his last few years and had the electronic buzzing thing that was incredibly unnerving; apparently, he was an incredibly strict parent but 5 of his 6 children "made it" so he and his wife must have done something right).

My last grandparent, my mother's father, passed away going in 4 years ago. He was a couple months shy of 93 years old. I didn't have much interaction with him due to residing in a place I loathed *rural Mississippi) but one thing that my mother inherited from him and my older half-brother from her is the propensity to speak at length, about everything.

My dad had 6 siblings and now he has two, with him (the 4th born) being the oldest left by just a year and 5 days. I particularly miss his 2nd oldest "rolling stone" of a brother and his older sister. Their deaths hit me very hard.

I have an older cousin who was recently diagnosed with renal cancer. We were moderately close as children (I was closer with his younger brother who is 11 months older than me) but he distanced himself from everyone except his brother after his mother (the above mentioned aunt) died.

I haven't yet lost any cousins or any other family member in my generation so his diagnosis hits extra hard and I hope that he can make it through. Such a large (6'6"), robust (275 lbs) man and he's already down 80 lbs. That shit is scary as hell.

I forgot my Aunt.

My friend and my aunt died the same way. Were smokers, got COPD lived a few years, got a respiratory illness, pnumonia then died.

I'll admit they both had anxiety issues. I guess they felt smoking calmed their nerves. If you smoke please quit. I took care of my friend in her final days. No one should go through that. Unable to be off a breathing machine more than 12 secs
