Not sure about any of the other games you've mentioned, but... there's a very easy solution for this one in particular.

Whether it's a solution you want to utilize, or whether it's one you should utilize in the first place, is up for debate but saying that there is no way to play it is factually incorrect.

There is no fully reliable and easy way to play Donkey Kong 64 without the actual cartridge. The VC port sucks because the game actually plays worse with the smooth framerate and N64 emulators are a pain to deal with.

well you could still play those. just need to pay a bunch for a console, controller, cords and then the games. but prices just keep going up on old stuff.

so physical games still have a hard way to play them but digital games are just gone. like all the 3ds and wii/wii u exclusive stuff that's just gone since the store closed and there's no legit way to play them anymore. sad. companies should just put their whole libraries online or something. sell the games for super cheap and give a bunch to play for free even if they just do it on a rotating basis or something. but they probably don't think it's worth the effort to do.

Obviously TC is talking about legal methods, and for him to emulate those games legally then TC needs a way to acquire those games in the first place.

Im obviously not saying these games are literally impossible to play. I could emulate them or buy a 360 and get the physical copy, but I dont have a computer, so there is no way for me to play these games. I can download a million games on my Xbox or ps4, but not the specific ones that I want to play

there's a guy on youtube beating all the n64 games. the first game he did was donkey kong 64 and he does it all on emulator since no way he could afford the whole 64 collection with some of them being a lot. but seems to run pretty well. at least it seems pretty close to what i remember playing it on 64 back 20 years ago.

If you're talking about Thabeast, that's an everdrive on a real N64.

Hey, you never know what they might re-release after all these years. About a month ago, the 1997 game Take No Prisoners was released on GOG and Steam, despite the fact it wasn't very well-known, and had a cult following at best (among which myself).

Now I'm hoping they'll eventually do the same with Defiance developed by Logicware in 1997)

I might still have the first DOTP game downloaded digitally, so I might be able to get it. I forget what their digital media policy is -- it was given out free years and years ago, so maybe it can be redownloaded. It's originally what got me interested in Magic, but I only have a few of the later games on Steam, so it'd be nice to complete the collection. Maybe there are old keys floating around or something...

I've yet to figure out why the SNES version of Wario's Woods hasn't released yet, especially considering that it has the option to play against the CPU (which isn't available in the widely-available NES version).

Also, I wish I can play Tony Hawk's Underground 2: World Destruction Tour on a console again :(

physical games? possible but expensive. buy used. if you can't find a console, there are 3rd parties that work better than the original consoles these days. there are other non-legal ways to do it too, probably.

but the main problem are those online-only digital games. those you'll have an incredibly difficult, if not impossible, time playing it. there might be hacks but if it's supposed to be online, it's usually mostly broken or swapped with something that wasn't in the original game. yeah digital, online-only games are fucked in this sense.

then again, who really wants to play old digital online-only games anyway?

I've always wanted to play the shadow heart's games but apparently something happaned to the company that owned it and the games have never been ported.

The older super robot wars games that were never released internationally and translated are another.

Sort of.
What I dislike even more is wanting to play an old multiplayer game, but being unable to because it's either dead or it was ruined by patches.
