It isn't about "punishment." It's about doing what's best for society, which sometimes means letting the smaller fish off with warnings - with the understanding that if they fuck up again they're gonna get crucified - in exchange for a stronger case against the masterminds. The sentence I mentioned in post 21? Some people on here would probably argue I should be in jail for it. But by not being in jail and instead serving my rehabilitation in the community, I have the opportunity to work and pay tax, which both my lawyer and the judge agreed is better for my family, myself, and society. People are often too quick to be vindictive rather than constructive, and that a "criminal" is in reality just a person who's done something stupid, but shouldn't necessarily be defined by it. Probation & some sworn apologies is like no crime committed at all if you just don't do anything in that time period. Are there fines too? Or anything else? She never would have gotten any of that in a trial, I'm just saying that's what she was technically facing.
