You can have it becoming a symbol because of its context: the Confederate Flag is a symbol because of associations of who used it and why and how. It's like the Gadsden Flag now; most people don't think about its use in the revolution, they think about the libertarian dipshits who ruined it. It's not a symbol of what it's actually a symbol of, it's a symbol of the people that took it as a symbol. A symbol of what it was a symbol of. Its original birth is gone. It's just a symbol that's a symbol because it's a symbol now. It's a symbol of those civil rights groups, and if they used a cool-shaped rock it'd be just the same, and I'd be hesitant to go venerate that rock symbol symbol symbol.
