archizzy 09/04/24 2:29:36 AM #9:	MJ for me. Man in the 80s he was truly a global superstar. After Thriller in 82 and the moonwalk in 83 it was crazy how popular he was. To be alive back then and experience it was just at another level. And to follow that up with Bad in 87 which is honestly an amazing album too. He absolutely owned 80s pop. Plus you have to consider his career as a kid with his brothers in the Jackson 5 as well. Dude was a star as a child, teen, and adult. He has a career that really cant be matched. Prince I definitely like a few things things and to me Purple Rain was his peak but its nothing compared to MJ. I do like Bowie but Im not fanatical about it. The thing I like from him the most is Under Pressure with Queen. I tend to favor his older stuff like Space Oddity from 1969 and The Man Who Sold the World in 1970 vs his more upbeat pop stuff from the 80s though I still like some of it. Hes randomly have a 10 minute instrumental in the middle of an album, followed by a country song and then techno and then glam rock. Hell, the man stopped being a solo act and joined a hard rock band for two albums just because he thought he got too sanitized for a while. with MJ I get the feeling of it being polished, good, but safe pop. He stays in its own lane and does a good job. But with Bowie, hes all over the road, off the road, down the wrong way street, up the guardrail, and wherever the hell he pleases. And doing that for so long, while still having so many good songs, is such an accomplishment. and he was also a much better actor oddly enough. Prince's music except When Dove's Cry and 1999 are meh to me, but even those are just okay. I don't know enough Bowie really. Personality, I feel like even though Michael had a rough last few years with the media criticizing him claiming he was a pedo and all, I feel like he was honestly the kind of guy who would give you the shirt off his back. It might be weird as Hell for him to take in kids but I've seen interviews and I don't believe he did anything 'bad' to them really. Not that I think it's cool to befriend kids at his age but I just don't think he was malicious at all. Bowie seemed to always be a cool and based dude from everything I saw of him.
