I have twice before, but neither encounter led to anything else.

i dont really use the apps religiously, just when Im distracted. But I feel pretty lonely now at 32 and want to get married soon.

I'd replace Tinder with Hinge if you're looking for a long term relationship. But don't give up

You can try, but I honestly think those apps are designed to just keep you swiping right on dead unused accounts. I miss craigslist.

Thanks, I'll look into Hinge. I've never been into hookups anyway and I'd probably have confidence issues trying to bone really fast.

Yeah but I haven't been trying very hard either. I need to make sure to not accidentally get matched with a fat chick again.

I feel like people often become too reliant on the apps. Meeting people in person can be much more effective.

Seconding this. Tinder is literally just scambots and girls trying to sell onlyfans now. Completely worthless. I had some great conversations and dates on Hinge and Bumble and I met my girlfriend on Bumble. You really do just have to put in the man hours. Even if you're really not that interested in it, you just have to grind to get some good matches going.

Just make sure you're honest about who you swipe on. Don't buy into that "it's a numbers game" mindset and swipe right on every woman.

Hinge absolutely pays attention to the type of women you like. It started out just showing me a wide variety of women, but as the days went on, it started honing in on women that was more my type based on who I was liking.

I definitely only swipe on girls I'm interested in. My friend told me that weird strategy you said and it doesn't make sense to me, I'm not interested in lowering my standards lol.

Try hunting in the wild. Go out and meet people.

Nah those are just the women that get the most likes on the app. You can pay to send them a rose which pushes your like to the top of their list.

They aren't the only attractive women on Hinge though.

Is this really so surprising? People dont make dating apps because they care deeply about the love life of strangers.

Best of luck, I tried dating apps for months and never got a match. Im sure my profile probably sucked but whatever. It eroded my self confidence for a while, and ever since then Ive stuck to trying to meet people in real life. Havent had much luck since then but I have made a few friends and became more confident so it worked out sorta

Making friends is genuinely the key.

Most of the people who really struggle to find a partner also don't have many friends. Its not a coincidence.

But make friends with who? I dont think going to smash tournaments is key. Maybe a reading club.

Theres no singular right answer to that.

Colleagues, gym buddies, sports club team mates, literally anybody you meet. As long as youre getting out of the house and doing stuff it doesnt really matter what it is. And then do things with those friends and youll meet their friends and it snowballs.

In August 2022, I moved to a country where I knew literally nobody. Not a single person. My birthday is in January, and I had no shortage of people turn up.

Dont believe the people who tell you its impossible to make friends as an adult. Its just not true.

I'm not in college anymore and I don't play sports. I do go to the gym but I don't do that with a buddy.

It matters to me who I'm friends with, I don't want to be friends with Trump supporters for instance.

It doesnt matter if youre not in college anymore. I gave the example of sports because thats what I do. It doesnt have to be fitness related. I also make a lot of friends through some volunteer stuff I do, but I thought that was more niche so didnt mention it.

Im not friends with any Trump supporters. Its not that hard to cull people you dont like from your social circle.

I would use Tinder everyday until it ran out of people near me... Did that for a couple years and never got a match out of it...

Reinstalled Tinder a couple days ago abd deleted it again after 10 minutes because of how pointless it felt...

Not really, but I only recently started to see people saying so. I figured they made most of their money from advertisements or something.

Both of my matches have been from bumble. Maybe tindr is worthless. There are 8 people who liked me though

Not saying this is what you are doing, but I hope you aren't discounting everyone that is not a 9 or 10. Many reasons for this:

1. Are you a 9 or 10?
2. People's attractiveness can be heavily influenced by mannerisms, speech, chemistry, etc. Don't assume based on still pictures
3. 9s and 10s tend to be a pain in the ass anyway. Find a 7 or so who has a great connection with you

I get not swiping if you find them flat out unattractive, but give more average people a shot if they seem otherwise interesting. Or stay single.

I go by their face and how overweight they are as the first thing I look at. Im also not gonna marry an average person, would definitely rather stay single.

Are you clearly above average looks wise? Or do you have something else you bring that most men do not? If not, why do think you can have higher physical standards for them than they can have for you?

Have you ever even been in a real relationship? Average or hot won't make that big of a difference in the long run, and especially as you age. Now I get if they are really overweight, and that can also cause long term health issues.

You can, but the question is why? Why is it so important? To be blunt, is it because you think you won't be able to be happy in bed or is this some status thing where you care what others think?

Ultimately, why is so important that you would rather be single?

Now if you can easily get hotter women, go for it. But it doesn't sound like you can.

And you didn't answer if you have been in a relationship. This isn't a dig, but trying to understand context, one way or the other.
