Continuation. I am finishing my exploration round up in mooring and finally can move on. I still lack the flighted bird enemy with needle but eh i'll come back later. Their new position after you finish the arena thing is obnoxious.

Did quite a lot of exploring today, mostly just running back through the early areas now that I've got what seems like the full suite of basic movement abilities (minus the grapple we saw in the trailer).

I did get captured and put in the Slab, that was a fun little diversion.

Made it through most of the Blasted Steps and got to the door to the Citadel, though I've not really touched Bellhart, so I was missing a bell.

I want to try the savage crest but honestly no blue slot is kinda a dealbreaker. Also i only have 5 masks still, and the healing isnt that useful for now. Maybe when i get more masks and with that you can heal for more than 3 masks it gets useful.

Also are the base dmg of each crests change?

Ok fine. Here are some extreme spoilers. Do not read until you are like - done done with the game.

Small spoiler:
You can get kidnapped and taken to a prison way in the middle of nowhere and then have to escape.

Medium spoiler:
You can get infected with a parasite and then have to do a quest to get it removed. You get an alternate ending if you beat the game with it still inside you.

Bigass spoiler:
There is an act 3.

Getting close to the end of content now. Got all fleas, did all the special courier quests, need 3 more items to complete the last quest. All silk hearts, all tool upgrades.

Need 8 more mask shards, 3 more spool fragments, 9 more tools and some other things.

I just did the second Savage Beastfly fight. It took only two tries. Ill list what I had which should explain why I didnt have as much trouble as everyone else did.

Alright, I beat Clockwork Dancers and have unlocked what appears to be the next main story beat. Gotta go to three places and ring 3 more bells or something. I think I know where to go for a Nail Upgrade, kind of. I think I've seen the item and know whereabouts to reach it, just not how to get to the room that leads to the room that leads to the oil.

I'm not sure I am enjoying this game, it feels like they barely play tested it on the difficulty. Something about the movement feels wrong too, especially the platforming and the dive attack.

I will come back to it later and give it another shot but there's just something that I am really not vibing with in this game and it's a bummer

If this is the difficulty level that comes out of not playtesting I think more devs should not playtest their games

All my complaints are stuff that are clearly design decisions which I just think were sort of dumb, like having to buy a bunch of the benches or the rosary strings concept

Forgot some of my progress: at the end of act 2 atm I think at least, lace 2 was a very fun challenge once it clicked but does feel cheap that falling off the arena does 2 masks lol. Then went backtracking again, found a random little fugly bug in bilewater, went back to finally complete polyp quest, went hey you look like this fugly kid, dumped him off there too and then got infected by it because that guy's a horrible parent. Parasite does seem to have a fun moveset but no healing/anyting else is weird.

It's probably more so that they lost track of what the players were expecting/would have liked while it's easy to see why they wanted harder. They've experienced everything HK had to offer, including pantheon 5, and have years of experience with Silksong while we've gotten used to years of HK movement and it's options like DD having great damage output and generous I-frames.

I for one am very happy with the difficulty level the game tends to be at. One of my least favorite things about modern gaming is how it feels like it takes hours to get to the point where the game actually expects anything of you, if it ever does at all. It reminds me of how it felt to play the MMZ games as a kid, and that's a compliment.

I'm so happy Team Cherry has made "fuck you money" twice now, because no one can stop them and I need more games that actually go "fuck you I already made my money, this is for ME" because that's the level of difficulty I need to be satisfied.

Anyone able to get through the Mist. Ive been going around in circles. I read that this was the alternate way into the Citadel.

Edit: You have to play the Needolin near the butterflies and follow them to whatever exit they go through.

Everything you say is valid. My response is: It Gets Better. Don't quit. If you hit what seems like and impassable wall, seek alternate routes. The game is hard, for sure, but overall it is fair (fair nothing is impossible with practice). It can be incredibly frustrating at times but It Gets Better.

This. I bitch about how unfair (area) is but in retrospect everything is pretty fine. Like my biggest complaint so far is Hunter's March. It's the 3rd available area to players and if you try to go into it as your 3rd zone you're gonna have a real, real bad time. It is clearly meant to be encountered early and get your shit pushed in and then come back to later. If you come back to it as like your 7th zone explored its very fair. Savage Beastfly will never not be a bitch but hard bosses are hard, git gud. There is a fair amount of Fuck You moments like the bench in Hunter's March and the bench in Sinner's Road but nothing is literally unplayable. I will say I don't feel like the game doesn't respect the player's time/investment properly sometimes but that doesn't change the fact that its challenges are overall fair

For sure. Hunter's March is the game's first skill check. Either you have the skills to clear it or you fucking don't, full stop. Git gud. Not trying be condescending here but that's the facts. I, personally, got my shit pushed in by Hunter's March twice, once when I man-moded my way past the entry mini boss and again after I came back with Dash and Hover, but ultimately I came out the other side as a better Silksong player. By the end I had a better grasp of Hornet's kit, better knowledge of how to traverse hard areas, and a better understanding of what the game expected of me. This is all doubly true because Hunter's March is 100% completely optional. There is nothing required there. If you tough it out you get some debatably useful upgrades. To summerize, Hunter's March sucks but I'm overall sticking up for Team Cherry here because in context its fine that it sucks largely because you're here by choice, nothing is forcing you to progess thru the area.

Out of all the crests, Architect is the most similar to Hunter. The biggest difference is that you can charge the pogo to go a little farther. It also hurts more if you hit enemies at closer range.

I mean, you could also come in with a different moveset, more damage, and more abilities. The area is very different when enemies take like, 10 hits to kill versus enemies that take 4-6 hits to kill. Like yes the whole game does require a certain level of skill, but Hunter's March is approaching Citadel levels of difficulty while being like. Literally in Marrow.

I do think that they attempted to pull an Elden Ring here. A soft-tutorial that not every area needs to be explored now. If somewhere seems difficult, maybe try somewhere else. Elden Ring has the first boss be insanely difficult to most first-time players, and if you ignore the Guidance of the Grace you can end up an early-game area that's actually way easier than where the game tells you to go first, but also helps you level up and get a few items too. If you're good enough to break down the front door, cool enjoy your game. But if you need to you can explore elsewhere and come back stronger. I think that's the message Hunter's March is trying to send. It's just not communicated especially well since there's rarely ever a "Hey this place is actually optional" flag just hanging around. To be fair though, the vast majority of people playing Elden Ring also choose to smash their face into the first boss because the game doesn't really make clear that you can go other places aaaand the game strongly pushes you towards that dungeon.

This is sick and all, but this is one of the worst fucking runbacks I've seen in any games. Some things can go wrong in the middle. If you do the sick judge into bell hop, you have to get him right when he spawns or you stop getting the height you need. Occasionally the fucking flies will snipe you.

It's so unnecessary. I feel like the boss would be pretty ok to deal with otherwise. I kept playing safe because it took so fucking long to get back to the boss. It's not always 30 seconds like in that clip lol

Also people talking about Hunter's March, that shit almost made me want to quit too. It's just so easy to enter, and there's basically 0 indication that it's THAT long with no bench but also has quite literally nothing for most early players. I just think it's bad design.

I look at this game a lot and think the word "unnecessary" a lot. It's just masochism at a certain threshold. If you like it, YOU like it. I think from a lot of posts and such, a lot of people do have a problem with the inconsistent benches and runbacks.
