Yeah this game has a serious contact damage issue. The fact that I have such a shit hitbox but take two masks for any touch a boss does is so ridiculous

90% of my deaths are due to contact damage alone

Also wanderers Crest is the best crest. I love it so much, yeah it has short range but it attacks so damn fast you can really wallop stuff

Yeah this was my least favorite boss. He's dead easy, but the constant adds are a pain. And just not fun. I would say try the triple knife tool which can help mitigate some of that

That's the case for a lot of the bosses in the game. You can get their patterns down easily enough but the added mobs, usually flying ones, will kite around you in such a way that you get boxed in very easily trying to deal with the constant cat and mouse games the flying mobs will play and the aoe/big damage attacks the boss will throw at you that demand your full attention.

My go to tools for Bosses are the Sting Shards for area damage for flying mobs to get passive damaged on and Tacks for grounded mobs to hurt themselves on, combined with the Pollip Pouch to poison them. Both of these also damage the boss as well, which is nice, but their main goal is to help me whittle the mobs down without getting drawn to much into battling them.

Yeah, focusing on the adds is generally the right call. Don't forget most of them go down in 1 spell attack.

For Beastfly specifically I used the Thorn Trap tool to help kill adds

I was at 6 masks before Sister Splinter.

Last session I did Sister Splinter(Took like 7 tries), then the Widow(3 tries), then remembered there was one of the doors you can open with the violin near the start of the game and died to the boss there like 4 times because I decided to stick with the Hunter crest for a bit but I'm still not used to the diagonal pogo.

After that I found the Sinner's Road and decided to go there with 400 rosaries on me lol. I managed to explore most of it without losing them, what a fun place. I'm not sure what to do with the simple key I found there.

Came across the first moment of the game that I can classify as absolute bullshit game design

in bilewater, theres a long stretch without any benches. I finally came across one, and it breaks and collapses the floor so you fall into a poison pit and have to redo the platforming section you just did, AND it doesnt save and the bench is just gone

literally just there to piss the player off and waste their time

A tip for the boss, if anyone wants a cheesy way deal with him-

once you get passed the mob rush phase, dive into the bilewater and hug the very bottom corner and snipe him out with projectile weapons (poisoned if you can) as he he can't hit you in the corner. Only time anything can reach you there is if he re-emerges where you are, so watch out for the bubbles. The blow dart guy can occasionally get a dart in there but those are the only thing you'd have to worry about.

Previously, when I attacked downward while airborne, I would pogo diagonally down (either left or right). Now, that no longer happens. I havent equipped any crest. So what changed?

Crests are automatically equipped when you get them. You don't have a choice.

the obvious solution is auto equipping it and then having a short fight or two that leads to a bench that then shortcuts back down to the start.

doesnt even need to be a bench could just have an object like a tool bench that allows you to change gear but doesnt let you rest if they care about that

Most people consider Beastfly to be much harder. I think Splinter is kinda up to opinions but I personally thought Splinter was easier due to the boss giving more time to attack comparatively. Also she's getting nerfed. I can't tell when that's actually happening

I totally played this game out of order in how I got to Act 2.

Instead of putting up with the runback to Last Judge, I skipped that and went around the map pushing on with the exploration options I had and ended up in Bilewater via Sinner's Road before getting the Harpoon ability. You can pass through Bilewater to the Organ area and fight Phantom and get into Act 2 that way.

Just got the hookshot ability. Had done trouble escaping that room after though. Felt kinda dumb after. lol

Also, cogeirk dancers were really easy. Died immediately upon reaching them yesterday because I had 1 hp and stood too close. Accidentally bumped into one twice my second attempt, and got it my 3rd. Was sad at the end.

I think the runback to that boss compounds the difficulty of it for a lot of people. The boss itself is tough but manageable, but the runback is brutal

If you want to get all the endings on one file, avoid fully clearing out Bilewater until later. There's a ending locked behind a challenge that you can end early and lock yourself out of.
