Looks like it will be a fun chapter when it releases. My reactions below to individual parts. I paraphrase several parts of the spoiler block.

Yamato visits Oden's Shrine.

I don't mind Yamato's cover story, but of course we all are anticipating all of Wano including Yamato having face off with the Blackbeard Pirates since Blackbeard will want to get his hands on Pluton. Just hoping we actually get to see it happen instead of just seeing a newspaper flash saying "Wano Destroyed!!!" or something.

Davy Family = Buccaneers.

So Blackbeard and Kuma are potentially related? Interesting. Some people are saying the Buccaneer clan has the "essence" or something of famous pirates? I don't completely get it, but sounds intriguing at any rate.

Blackbeard's mother appears for the first time with Blackbeard. She is "messy". Some other commentators online describe her as beautiful still though.

It will be good to see her. I was half expecting the two of them to not be part of the main "hunt". More, there will be a twist that the World Government found out about them being connected to Rocks and they will be used to force Rocks into a bad position...where maybe he is forced to be Domi Reversi'ed. I imagine the chapter will clarify this though.

Shanks/Shamrock's mother asks Dragon to take care of her children's future. Then he saves them at the chapter's end.

Good stuff. Of course, we know he ultimately fails to save Shamrock. I wonder if Dragon and Garling will have a confrontation over this or not. People have been talking about the two going at it in different forums. Also, can we finally see what Shanks/Shamrock's mother actually looks like? Keeping her faceless seems disrespectful.

The hunt starts. Dragon shoots one Celestial Dragon to Protect Kuma.

Well that is big. I wonder if it is made apparent to other Celestial Dragons what Dragon did. Maybe it leads to him being forced to leave the marines instead of just doing so voluntarily. I also wonder how Garp will react to all this.

All God Knights are introduced. New one looks like a yeti with horns.

That will be nice. That means we will only presumably be missing whichever character got recruited to the organization when Garling got promoted to be a 5 Elder (as I presume Shamrock was already a member).

Rocks Pirates/Roger Pirates/Garp all arrive at God Valley. Redraws of Chapter 1096.

Well things are getting underway. Not sure if we will get any new fights on this front. Based off some rereading, it is apparent most marines are protecting the Celestial Dragons while Garling wants the God Knights to engage the pirates. Let's see if that happens in this chapter or the next. And yeah, how each side responds to the massacre of the innocent is something I want to see (particularly from Garp's PoV).

Sounds like another great chapter!

I also am wondering if we see IMU at all present during the God Valley Incident either in person or through Gunko. It might be premature, but who knows.

The spoilers are all over X and other sites. We can freely discuss them. We aren't breaking any rules by doing so.

Plus, back when I watched the Naruto manga religiously on a weekly basis, topics were constantly made and discussed based off of the spoilers on leafninja (another website) before the official release. I've always seen it as part of the experience of following a Manga, but I can understand why it may rub some people the wrong way.

My understanding is that as long as there's no media that could potentially lead to a take-down request, it should be fine. No images or videos and don't post a full script.
And of course it's piracy, it's One Piece.

If Oda is actually fleshing out all the combatants at God Valley, he better actually deliver some fights instead of flashy double spread clashes that lead to nothing. He's the king of useless worldbuilding that goes nowhere.

I am glad to see a Marine (he is at this point) who is willing to to do the right thing (stopping Celestial Dragons) despite potential consequences. Garp's deal of just sticking to dealing with piracy kinda left me wanting as a justice seeking organization.

It amazes me we still don't know if Mihawk has Conquerer's Haki or not at this point in the story. Considering he dueled equally with Shanks, I have to assume so, but...who knows.

Mihawk thinks Shanks got weaker since he lost the arm and Oda has said he hasn't. He's not the king. And Shanks ever going all out against him is something very unconfirmed. Mihawk has better skill, but Shanks can easily be stronger.

And Whitebeard and Kaido would tear him apart.

Have you been living under a rock? Many fan sites of popular Manga have topics dedicated to discussing spoilers. The same people discussing spoilers will read the chapters when they are available.

Glad Dragon is showing he's a mensch. He keeps company with Ivanka and Kuma, so it always made sense he should be. I bet he was proud as hell to hear Luffy punched a Celestial Dragon.

Yes. The Luffy who fought Kaido would beat Mihawk. It's said multiple times Kaido is the strongest. Mihawk would put up a fight, but he's not Kaido level.

Still, I will say this though, people online are NOT happy with Garp right now. Considering that innocents are being massacred (graphically), him showing up to protect the side that is massacring people with a big grin on his face honestly feels rather offensive. Granted, I imagine he won't be grinning for long.

Well...the Emperors *were* the pinnacles, but now apparently there are God's Knights and Elder Stars who are somehow quite powerful and unkillable. Which begs the question - if Blackbeard were really such a threat, why didn't the 5 Elders just team up and kill him back then? Or send the God's Knights after them? Surely the BB of 2 years ago could have been killed by the likes of Saturn and etc.?

He is about as good as someone can be in the Marines. How good that is...well, I'll let you decide that for yourself. Hopefully he pulls a Issho and helps slaves escape from the Celestial Dragons or something...or people's opinions of him are going to continue to go in a very downward direction.

By and large, the Holy Knights are NOT Emperor level. Sommers got annihilated by Gaban. Shamrock and Garling are probably to that sort of pinnacle.

Also, the Elders mostly seem to don't think they need to do anything since they'd need to actually do it themselves, fighting an Emperor is really hard, they plan to flood the world anyway and mostly importantly, it's very likely Blackbeard is very dangerous because of the Dark-Dark Fruit that might be able to nullify their abilities. I'm pretty sure that's what Rocks wanted and exactly why. If I'm, I dunno, Mars, I don't wanna risk a guy turning off my immortality. It might be fatal.

Just adding on to this, part of what kept the Four Emperors in check was each other. None of them were allied for a long time and they spend most of their time feuding with each other. So until that changes/ed, there wasn't a need to get involved.

Plus, I doubt the Five Elders want to be photographed looking like this...

It is just a bad look. Hence why they almost never get directly involved in fights unless it is something really important like Egghead.

Seriously, the Four emperors haven't been surpassed by the Elders or the Holy Knights. It was always a deadlock where the Marines could compete with a combo of their best, it shouldn't be a shock the Holy Knights have some way to fight back

Thinking more about the power scaling, it is a little wacky. I mean you have...

IMU
Emperors
Emperor Division Commanders (Marco/King/Zoro)
Admirals
Five Elder Stars
Holy Knights

And how does the power scaling go?

Let's assume IMU is at the top until proven otherwise considering he/she/they/it corrupted Harald who fought evenly with Rocks. Heck, IMU may have corrupted Rocks too.

Emperor Gear 5 Luffy (on his second wind) smashed both Saturn and Kizaru with powerful attacks. Yet Kizaru stayed down while Saturn's immortally prevented him from being defeated no matter what Luffy did and coming back for more. Yet the Five Elder Stars were never able to harm Luffy in any significant way. They seemed...stalemated almost. A slight nod to Luffy since he kept knocking them down. They just refused to stay down.

And yet you have admirals like Aramaki stomping both King and Queen with little effort...and the likes of Kizaru/Aokiji got the better of Marco/Jozu.

So the power tier list goes...

IMU > Emperors >= Five Elder Stars > Admirals > Emperor Division Commanders.

As LightSnake said, I imagine the Holy Knights kinda are a bit throughout the tier. Most are probably somewhere between the Admiral to Emperor Division Commander tier. Someone like Shamrock probably fights close to the Emperor tier, being Shank's brother and all... So...

IMU > Emperors >= Five Elder Stars > Admirals > Most of the Holy Knights > Emperor Division Commanders.

Does that seem about right? Throw Roger/Rocks above Emperor Tier and Rayleigh/Gaban just under Emperor tier if you want and you get...

IMU > Roger/Rocks > Emperors > Prime Rayleigh/Gaban >= Five Elder Stars > Admirals > Most of the Holy Knights > Emperor Division Commanders.

I feel Kizarus performance is being overly harshly judged. The fact Kizaru had to feed Luffy to get him back in action gives me the impression he wasnt doing his best, yet people are assuming his performance is indicative of his true strength.

Aramaki seemed to be wary of going to Wano as long as Kaido is there. I take this as him believing he couldn't beat him. So I still think the placement is fine.

I still think it was Van Augur who gave Luffy the food, but I digress...

We saw how admirals compare to Emperors during Marineford.

They come up short. Period. Admirals can put up fights but they're weaker.

I avoided bringing up Whitebeard since the guy we saw at Marineford was past his prime, but even he had incredible stamina and managed to survive two devastating magma attacks (and a whole lot of other stuff such as attacks from both of the other admirals) and still managed to defeat Akainu.

He was also not fightiing Akainu solo. At all.

Oda already told us who wins one on one with Kaido. "If it's one on one, bet on Kaido."

I mean, isn't that what I said? No one managed to inflict any damage on Akainu even with Haki outside Whitebeard. For all purposes, Akainu was at full strength. Whiteboard got stabbed by Squard, frozen by Aokiji, had heart problems bad enough he keeled over, got hit with a magma punch, blasted by Kizaru's laser beams, stabbed by lots of people, got shot by cannonballs, and still managed to defeat Akainu even after getting a good chunk of his head taken off (in the manga). And he still would have killed Blackbeard in a fight after that had his crew not intervened.

It makes sense. Old Whitebeard had health problems and if he keeled over and allowed Kaido to get a nasty hit on him like Akainu did, it wouldn't be good for him.

And yeah...
Prime Whitebeard > Kaido > Old Whitebeard > Big Mom seems reasonable.

However, it is clear from the newer translations Dragon and his squad weren't even supposed to be on the island. It looks like they went there to defy the Celestial Dragons and Dragon's whole squad got wiped out.

It also means Garp likely doesn't know his son is on the island.

It's his job and there are other marines on the island that have no chance against the likes of Roger/Rocks. Doesn't excuse him protecting the scum committing genocide mind you.

Just wonder if he will figure out what has been going on the island if he doesn't already know. Wonder if he will run into his son as well.
