Speculation/possible future spoiler content:

She's clearly SOMEBODY important, but who? Is she Ruby's real mother? People pointed out her actress's name is "Susan Twist", and Susan was brought up in the last episode, but that's WAY too meta for me to take seriously.

On the other hand, "there's always a Twist at the end"...

Yeah, the other characters are fine (unless you want to experiment), but Shadowheart is kinda tragic in her base setup. At the very least changing her Cleric subclass is recommended, and refocusing her stats to be less... stupid.

I'm not saying you need to minmax everything, it's just her in particular is not great by default.

Something I had been thinking about recently was that nearly every single Pokemon from RBY has gotten a new evolution, or baby form, or gimmick form, or regional variant, or whatever. Turns out there's still a somewhat noteworthy amount that have never gotten anything, and so I switched to thinking "Which one of these families should be the next to get a new form in the next Pokemon games?" I made a list of them and wanted other people's thoughts:

Gen 1 Pokemon that have not gotten a new variation yet:
(Only the final evolution in a family are listed):
Fearow
Arbok
Nidoqueen
Nidoking
Parasect
Venomoth
Golduck
Victreebel
Dodrio
Dewgong
Cloyster
Hypno
Seaking
Starmie
Ditto
Omastar
Kabutops
Dragonite
Mew

Some of these probably don't count, like Ditto or the Fossil Pokemon (although Aerodactyl got one...). I'm kind of surprised the Psyduck family never got anything considering how popular it is. Or Dragonite, since it's the "pseudo-legendary" of its generation. Tyranitar, Salamence, Metagross, and Garchomp all got Megas and it didn't?

Wizards are pretty frail. If you want access to better armor you can take one multiclass level in Cleric to gain armor proficiency (how much you get depends on what subclass you choose, but you can literally gain everything by picking the correct ones)

EDIT: Also, at level 3 a lot of characters die pretty quickly. It's not unusual. You get MUCH more staying power once you hit around level 5+.

Dolphins are technically whales, so the Ecco games count.

I'm curious as to what counts as "a starring role". I think a game like Tokyo Jungle might serve to fill the role for a lot of animals because of its large roster.

I didn't mind Feebas at all, even though it did take like nearly two hours for me to find one.

I did it while watching a Mythbusters marathon so the time didn't matter that much. And it was worth it for how valuable it was as trading fodder for so many years and generations afterwards.

Yeah there's some mediocre bloat, but III as a whole has a great pokmon selection I think anyway.
And honestly, the only reason why there's bloat is because Gen III had a sizable roster. I believe it's the third most new Pokemon after V and I.

Hoenn has 135 new Pokemon. Kalos has 72.

I do agree that I find Hades to be limited in the variety of enemies and in its level design. But on the other hand, I find that Hades has enough variety in the weapon and power-up styles to satisfy me.

In my most recent play-through I set up intentional limitations to how I went through my runs, including:
  • Always swapping to the weapon with Dark Thirst
  • Always choosing Boons/Upgrades that were on the Fates list (and prioritizing to get every Duo and Legendary Boon when making choices).
  • Not reusing Keepsakes that were used in previous runs until I cycled through them all.
  • Max leveling the Hidden Weapon Aspects and completing full runs with them.
All of these served basically the same purpose, to force me to not rely on the same strategies each time and make me need to use different playstyles in every run. The repetitiveness of the enemies matters very little when you have to take them on in many different ways because you have a mis-mash of a build. That's probably not going to be fun for everyone, but I really enjoyed it.

It might be good to mention that the original uncompressed audio leaked a few years ago, and it's worth hearing the game's dialogue without it sounding like it's being played through a broken drive-through speaker at least once in your life:

Smash Bros .

That running at 60 fps on the 3DS is absurd. Not to mention the amount of content it had. People sort of moved on quickly when the Wii U version came out, but Smash 3DS was essentially at parity with it, sharing the vast majority of content (including DLC!) with it. Vastly underrated.

Honestly, this might just be a result of the merger causing a lot of things to be reorganized and re-examined. Which still isn't a good sign, but not necessarily a sign that Blizzard is sinking.

The thing is, despite all their terrible PR lately and all the vocal criticism from fans, their top games are doing good numbers and are profitable. There's a very large dissonance from the critic's perception of things and the actual state of things, and a lot of people aren't getting that.

Metroid Prime Hunters was first revealed at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2004,[25] with IGN giving the game their Best Nintendo DS Game of E3 award.[26] When Nintendo received negative feedback at E3 2005 about the game's lack of an online feature,[4] the company announced in August that the game's release was delayed to give the developers time to implement Nintendo WFC support.[27] After the game's release was delayed to give NST time to implement the multiplayer feature, the developers took the time to make more changes.

That explains a lot

I like the new magic system. That should help make the game stand out more from the original. Otherwise everything does feel the same as the first one. I wouldn't say that's a bad thing, because the first one was so good, but it'd be disappointing considering how often you were encourage to replay that over and over.

Then again, it's just one small area so there's plenty of room to add new stuff later.

Things I really liked:
  • Petting the frog
  • The spell the boss uses that turns you into a sheep
  • Schelemeus!

Castform 5th gen, the entire thing is great, but the third paragraph alone is fantastic:

4th Gen Kakuna for this line:
This is your standard Choice sweeper. With Bug Bite, Kakuna is not walled by the likes of Steelix and Steel-type Arceus. As a matter of fact, Bug Bite's addition lowers max HP / max Def Steelix from a 94HKO to a 36HKO. Max HP Steel-type Arceus is now a 25HKO, while min HP/Def Psychic Arceus is a 22HKO.

Like it's enough that the game still looks amazing to this day, with amazing effects, but there's some real neat things under the hood too. Most people think the game is entirely cel-shaded, but the really impressive thing is that it isn't. It uses different shaders for different objects to make the graphical style work, which is pretty amazing considering the Gamecube doesn't have programmable shaders.

Whether it's beating a very difficult game, getting 100% on a game, getting a speedrun finished, doing some sort of challenge run, etc.

I'm not really the type to go for 100% clears a lot, but I enjoyed Kid Icarus: Uprising so much I was compelled to get all the Achievements without using the skips. Towards the end of that I was genuinely worried it wasn't healthy... (the second to last level on the hardest difficulty is absolutely brutal).

Hypothetical situation. Imagine if in the future they invented underwear that, if you go to the bathroom in them, it automatically teleports the waste away from your drawers in an instant leaving no trace of your leavings. Meaning you'd never have to go to a specific room to "go to the bathroom" you could just do it whenever you were. If such a thing existed, would you be okay with pissing and shitting yourself or would you find the idea too uncomfortable even if it wasn't physically unpleasant?

And if you would be okay with this, would you still step aside to a private area to do your business or do you think you would be able to let loose while in a crowd or in the middle of a conversation? Would it make a difference if you could do it subtly or not?

I feel like an invention like this would change the world but few people would want to be the first adopters...

I gotta say, re-reading the trial information has been absolutely hilarious, seeing all the ludicrous theories the defense put up to explain how OJ could have been innocent:

"The police mishandled the DNA evidence causing all of the real killers' DNA to be 100% lost!"
Really? Improperly handling DNA causes a portion of it to just vanish instead of it all being contimated or have it mixed in with the other people's?

"The police stole a bottle of OJ's blood and poured it all over the crime scene!"
I'm just visually imagining this and cracking up.

"Mark Furhman picked up the matching glove with a stick, put it in a ziplock bag, hid it inside of his sock, and then traveled to OJ's house to leave it there in order to frame him!"
what???
