Eventually, yes. I enjoy the series but it's the least excited I've been for a new Borderlands game and I've got no reason to pick it up on release, so I'll just grab it on sale somewhere down the line.

Not sure if that qualifies me as a yes or a no in the poll though.

Maybe not 100% on topic but a related story that happened to me recently.

I'd never played a Souls game because I don't enjoy difficulty for the sake of it and, to be honest, the community put me off. I recently decided to give Elden Ring a try because it was cheap on sale and I'd beaten (and loved) Armored Core 6 earlier this year so how hard could Souls games really be?

A friend of mine who considers himself a hardcore gamer had started Elden Ring a couple years ago but never finished it (I don't think he even got very far). When I told him I'd started it, he immediately tried to tell me what the "OP build" is and how to play, reinstalled and started a new game himself, said it wouldn't count as beating the game anyway because I was playing on PC and would definitely be cheating, and then when I finished the game before him he uninstalled it and said it was boring and not worth playing.

I dunno, if a friend of mine started playing a game/series that I was a big fan of I feel like I'd be trying to positively engage with them rather than gatekeeping. By the end of my playthrough I was skipping a lot of the optional bosses/areas because I just wanted to finish it and wasn't enjoying the game enough to drag the experience out any longer, and I think a big part of that was it being spoiled by my "Souls fan" friend. I doubt I'll play any other Souls games in future

If accessing your "easy mode" requires going online, researching specific builds, bum-rushing areas out-of-sequence to get certain items, fighting midgame bosses to get the equipment behind them, looking up further out-of-sequence routes to inorganically rush upgrade materials, grind for hours to get the stats to actually equip all this shiny new stuff, etc... can it even be called an "easy mode" at that point?
This was something else that came up in my experience. Before I started, as a completely new Souls player, I ran a few Google searches along the lines of "Elden Ring beginner tips". I was hoping for general advice like "concentrate on levelling up vitality and one attack stat, this weapon is a good starting choice" (which I did see some of). What I ended up seeing more of was "run straight across the map from the beginning, hit this illusory wall, talk to the person there, go back to this area near the start, talk to this person, and then you'll unlock a shop that sells the best early game weapon" (paraphrasing, not a specific exact quote). Such a bizarre way to introduce a new player to your game: "skip all this discovery".

Unless something crazy happens it should be a shoe in for winning best RPG and soundtrack. The Renior battle theme at the end of Act 2 may be my favorite boss theme ever.

It's all so good! That one's called "Une vie t'aimer" in the soundtrack. "Rain from the ground" (the Sprong and Goblu boss music) is another great one and seems to be getting picked up on in a lot of YouTube shorts I've seen.

Apparently they found the composer, Lorien Testard, on some random indie dev forum. Heard a track from him and offered him a job. Even the publisher and investors seemed to approach the project with the right attitude from the interviews I've read.

Bet someone in Ubisoft is kicking themselves for letting these devs go.

It's a 9.8/10 for me, and it only loses that .2 for the frequent-ish crashes I've been getting. Luckily with the auto saves I've never lost much progress if any, apart from having to redo one optional boss fight once (but it had such an amazing battle track I didn't really care).

Story, writing, soundtrack (which I've bought), gameplay are all top tier and hit exactly right for me. I actually started on game pass and at about hour 15 bought a copy on Steam just because I was so in love with the game.

I'm currently on my second play through and taking my time a lot more this time around. First time I was going away for a week and couldn't stand the thought of leaving the story unfinished so I had to skip a bit of optional stuff/exploration, but now I'm getting way more in to the end game.

The picto/lumina system has such great scope for buildcraft and I'm really enjoying putting together utterly broken stuff like stacking utterly ludicrous amounts of burn.

If it doesn't absolutely clean up at the game awards I'll be shocked. At the very least I'm expecting awards for game of the year, best RPG, and best soundtrack.

*Fuck, I really need this to be a release where the multiplayer is completely intact though. I am 100 percent in this for the multiplayer so it'll be pretty useless for me if this happens to be a nathan drake collection or last of us part 1 type of thing where the MP gets gutted.*
Good news!

"Gears of War: Reloaded includes the full breadth of content from the Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, delivering the most complete version of the original game to date. I'm less impressed that they're remastering the first game again rather than giving any love to the sequels but oh well, maybe it's a sign that they're coming.

I'm about 6 hours in and feeling like it's going to be (at least my) game of the year. I'm on game pass but I'm going to buy a copy too; I haven't been this captivated by a game in a very, very long time.

Reminds me a lot of Shadow Hearts Covenant which was one of my favourite games back in the day.

Bit of a niche one but as I work in document fraud, anytime a passport is shown on screen I end up looking to see if they've got the details right. I think there was one in Iron Man 2 when Mickey Rourke obtains a false passport to travel on and it states he's female.

The weird thing is that they've got enough money to throw some relatively big names behind it like Pokimane, Ninja, Felicia Day, and Ben Brode.
I feel like there was another fairly blatant AI-generated scam game that was in the news recently and which also featured influencers as part of it. I'm sure Ninja was one of them. Can't remember what it was called but it was a GTA-style game.

How do defamation lawsuits work when a defendant has fled the country? If anyone can provide some insight, it would be greatly appreciated.

I'd say it's also possible that he's just going on vacation, but... I don't think he has earned the benefit of the doubt.

Very disappointing. The QoL improvements are great but I was hoping they were going to expand the play space a little and not just stick to the distinct zones. I'll pick it up at some point I'm sure but it'll likely be when it's on sale.

Loved this one! 2 and Noir were decent as well but the first just had something really charming about it. Apart from the repeated "That. Doesn't. Work." any time you did something wrong.

Azure Dreams for GameBoy Colour came to mind as well. I only played it because I won it in a random grab bag of prizes from a gaming magazine but ended up really enjoying it. Thinking back it was the first Rogue-like/lite game I ever played, but I didn't know what one was at the time.

I'd say it's pretty accurate, but Architect has come almost entirely from a complete obsession with Civ 6. I'd probably say Bounty Hunter is the more common type of game I actually play.

Your primary (dominant) player type is the Architect, but you also lean towards a secondary player type, the Bounty Hunter.

Architects are solo gamers that enjoy planning, decision-making, and progression. They prefer slow-paced, relaxing gameplay where they can plan and build something grand and enduring.

Bounty Hunters are solo, action-oriented explorers who want game worlds that they can make their own through customization and discovery. They also enjoy power progression and unleashing mayhem.

Bought a PS5 Slim when they first came out and a spare controller as I like to keep them in rotation. Noticed within a week that one of the controllers had an issue where the touchpad controls would randomly activate in a brief flurry as if I'd been rapidly swiping from side to side. I had no idea whether it was the one bundled with the console or the spare so I just returned it as if it was the latter that was faulty and got a replacement.

No issues with either current controller so far.

I went to a board game convention late last year and in the event info there was a section about etiquette that included a bit about minding your personal hygiene and saying there would be "refresh stations" available. When we got there these turned out to be cans of deodorant next to all the sinks in the toilets.

Some of the people we saw definitely looked like they needed the reminder.

Will definitely do a replay whenever an expansion comes out, still think the game needs a definitive epilogue segment. Even just one last camp debrief that youd automatically go to after the final boss.
Didn't they patch that exact thing in to the game a couple of months ago? It was after I'd finished my 5th playthrough so I've never gone back to the game to see it but one day I will.
