The rain continues to pour as the armor raises its gigantic fists once more. The wound on your shoulder barely has time to close before it is ripped open again, as the armor strikes with a steady rhythm. It raises its hands once more...

I start with regrowth pendant against lux and I have move quints so if she stays at max range she can't farm, and if she tries to nuke she eats siphon and gets pushed out of the lane eventually.

I dunno I just think kaiser eats burst casters for lunch. Especially ones with high cooldowns like Lux.

Personally I like not getting pendant because Revolver is just broken on Morde. He gains like 50 health from it if he pops it within all the creeps, but I can see how it'd work. Boots are "too good" though IMO.

What is IP again?
IP is the other kind of points you earn when you play matches. You earn both XP and IP and IP are the points that you use to purchase runes and champions. Yes, that’s right, you have to "buy" the champions, but you get the points for free so its not a bad deal. (You can also spend real money on champion packs if you would rather not take the time to earn them) The point is that you get the IP for free so you should figure out which champions you are good with and spend it on those. When you buy a champion you will have it unlocked on your account forever. And if you don't buy ANY champions, you will still have access to 10 of them. Every week there are 10 "free" champions. But they are only free for the week and 10 different champions will be free the next week. And so if you are level 1 you still have 10 champions available to you and so try them out, figure out which one you might like to spend points on and then buy it.

And so IP is good for Champions and Runes. You can also spend *real money* to unlock champions but you can NOT unlock runes with real money, only IP and so runes have to be earned.

To sum up:
You have an account that goes up to level 30 (this is your summoner level)
You earn XP (to level up the account) and IP (to buy champions/runes) every time you play a match
You have rune pages (with up to 30 slots)
You have a mastery page to spec (with up to 30 points) (and you can respec as much as you want)

This is probably a bit over-kill and so if something doesn’t quite make sense just ask and someone will clarify. And if you are going to start playing please post:
(1) Your GameFAQs name
(2) Your Summoner name (this is different than your log-in name)
(3) Your preferred champions. It’s just nice to know which champions people prefer to play or use the most.

And please BOLD THE INFORMATION so we will see it and update the list accordingly.

What is League of Legends?
League of Legends is a team game very similar to the WarCraft 3 custom map DotA. There are two bases, one on either side of the map and several "lanes" between the bases along which AI controlled units spawn. An overhead view of the 5v5 map looks about like this:
external image

There is a base in the bottom left, and a base in the top right. 3 lanes connect the two bases and every 30 seconds AI controlled "minions" spawn in each lane. Everyone who is in the game controls 1 "champion" unit and your job as a team is to push your lanes and destroy the opposing base. The lanes are protected by turrets and so you need your own minions along side you to be able to kill the turrets without getting targeted by them. 2 bases, 3 lanes, 5 players per team.

What are Champions?
Champions are the powerful units that you get to control. You pick 1 before the map loads and that is the champion you will use for that match. Champions start each match at level 1 their max level is 18. The important thing to consider is the stats of the champion you select will be affected by the level of your account.

What do 'account-levels' have to do with anything?
When you create an account you have a level 1 account. That is called your 'Summoner Level'. You are the summoner, and the champion you select for the match is the 'summoned'. You increase your summoner level by playing matches. Every match you play will earn you XP and IP. Earning enough XP will increase your summoner level with the max level being 30. Wins are worth more XP/IP than losses, so try to win ^_^. Your summoner level also determines:
(1) How many runes you can slot and
(2) How many mastery points you can allot

If you are low leveled still and playing by yourself then the game will try and pair you against similarly leveled opponents, but if you are playing with higher leveled friends then it will seek higher leveled opponents. Just something to consider when you start learning how to play.

Why the hell is Lux a counter to morde? I've laned solo against Lux a couple of times. Her cooldowns are too high to make you care especially if you can dodge skillshots at all.

She stays out of range so you can't hurt her unless you dive, and her singularity can be shot as you approach the creepline to deal chip damage. She probably loses after you have a revolver but beforehand she's a pain.

Orianna 100% wins though - I think we can all agree on this.

1) And then you don't have a boomshield, plus spoilers, that heal is ****tastic. On a 3k HP target, with 300 AP...you heal less than 500 HP. Soraka with the same AP heals you for 570 HP, and then slaps an armor buff that turns you into a tank for the duration on top. Note that I'm working off the best-case scenario of the 3k HP target having 1 HP on Karma's case. In a real scenario you'll heal for peanuts. And if we compare group heal to group heal, Soraka literally doubles Karma's best-case heal without any caveats.

2) The shield is great, no doubt. Problem is that it's the only piece of her kit that doesn't suck balls.

3) No, he was a baddy. Orianna and to a lesser extent Lux are counters to Morde. Other people most certainly aren't, and Morgana is super free because sure, you can't force her out of the lane, but you don't NEED to. You can just permapush until the tower goes down.
Twitch and Teemo are counters to morde. They can both poke with an auto and shred the shield with true damage/poison.

W is a counter to teemo. Twitch is a big ****ing PITA but I hesitate to call him a counter. I'd need more practice and toying with setups to see.

1.Soraka can heal the entire team once per fight for around 500 per fight. Karma can do it twice in a fight for 200-250 while also doing 500 damage each burst. Now, don't get me wrong, Soraka is a much better support for her abilty to just feed a carry out the ass, but Karma's ability to support and burst in gonna be a major asset after this upcoming patch.

2.You're completely forgetting about Karma's speed up and slow down. Knowing when to use which is pivotal but being able to keep Assassins off your Carries is a nice thing. Being able to speed your carry up to chase down everything is also nice. Once that thing does damage...amazing.

3.Seeing as you play Morde even more than I play Morgana tell me where this Morde went wrong.

Early on he hid behind his creeps to avoid my snare. Once I got 2 levels of my W I stopped that and forced him into snare areas. Once I got my Spell Shield I could block most of his damage and punish him for coming close. Once I hit 5 I wiped the creep wave faster than he wiped mine and then he had nothing to hide behind. I beat him to 6 and just flash Ult Snared him for First Blood. From then on I had a level lead and there was nothing he could do.

I just don't see what he can do to combat that.

1) This assumes you're not getting your ass burst down though, or that the teamfight lasts long enough for two heals. The fans have super short range, if there's more than one enemy in range while you're healing your whole team they're terrible or your team is about to get wiped by AoE.

2) It already does damage IIRC, what they're doing is shifting it forward a little.

3) Get two points in W, go in front, EAT the snare, counter your MR leech and DoT damage from soil with W, and give no ****s. Or dodge the snare because that's more pro, but point is that being afraid of Morg's Q as Morde is lulzy, especially because you can destroy black shield in record time with any spell. I'm setting up the new topic, so gimme a second - should be able to log in for a custom soonish to explain it with practice.

Morde's Q multiplies Lichbane's added damage, possibly because of a bug. Lich and Sheen are 100% core on Morde because of this, as they turn what is a pretty decent nuke into a rape machine that deals 1.6k raw damage (seriously, it does, I have a screenie of smacking Dragon for that much lying around) if you catch somebody alone. As for the other ratios, they're all legit because 0.15*6 = 0.9 and E is straightforward.

Holy crap. Gotta start getting this on him.

Yeah, I didn't believe it either until I tried it out. These days I get Revolver and Sheen no matter what, because god damn, you can't pass on a nuke that strong.

1.Karma's heal is actually pretty solid because it:

A.Heals the whole team
B.Heals a percentage of health missing that can get ridiculous after Rabadons
C.Does a nice amount of kaboom damage

2.Karma's shield isn't anything to joke about. 600 Damage absorption plus 600 damage is terrifying. I throw it on Monkey King before he ults and LOL.

3.So I solo laned a Mordekaiser today as Morgana and after out CSing him and killing him 3 times he said "I lost because Morg is a direct counter to Morde". Is this true?

Morde has a 0.9 ratio, a 2.1 ratio (yes, you read that right), and a 0.6 ratio. His spells are also more spammable, having a 4, 6, and 12 second CD with a 6 second uptime. Because Karma's heal is so lulzybad, her utility comes down to a single, semi-decent shield and her speed boost. That utility is pathetic, and she requires AP to be good, so she is best stuck in a solo and played like Kaiser, bullying the other dude out of lane. This is, in fact, how pros play her even.
http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Mordekaiser_the_Master_of_Metal

? Is there an error on this page? Otherwise what weird maths are you using to determine those supposed ratios.

PS: Also, forgot the fact that Morde deals an extra 1% of max HP damage for every 25 AP he gets. That's an INSANE amount of scaling on the ult.

But that's what I'm saying. She bullies people out of a lane and after the W gets damage on contact she will be able to do that, have three damaging team utility spells, and good cooldowns.

Yes, but what *I* am trying to say is that until she gets something to make her utility better, she's useless because Kaiser does everything ELSE she does better. He's a better lane bully on mid (and let's not talk about top because both Rumble and Morde school karma in a longer lane), and the utility of having a character who either forces you to burn CDs on him to prevent him from hitting for carry tier damage or a bruiser who does good damage and has a wall of bonus HP that is permanently renewable instead of being tied to a single CD is greater because Karma can't support well. What needs a real buff is her Q, because until it can *actually* do clutch saves, she'll never have a spot on a team.

I don't get this post. Karma's going to have 3 spells with low cooldowns that are fairly spammable and have way better AP ratios that morde and have way more team utility >_>

My only worry is that the damage on the W will cost a mantra charge. They damn well better give her a third charge or something so you don't have to karma twice to get W and E's damage.

Also Realo I have permadibs on Karma imo

You feel water fall down on you as you stand up, and see two tiny red eyes looking at you from above. The Sprite causes a very, very soft rain to fall down on you, and as it touches your wounds they begin to close. It isn't enough to fully patch you up, but you suddenly don't have to struggle to breath anymore.

[MC HP remaining: 43/70
Empathic Sprite HP remaining: 60/60]

You are quickly forced to put your rejuvenated body to use, however, as the armor charges at you gauntlets still glowing with that dead light. You attempt to strike it down but it swiftly sidesteps, instead smashing your left shoulder against the wall. You feel something snap, and pain erases all coherent thought from your mind for a moment, as blood freely pours from the wound.

[MC's Basic Attack has been dodged!]

Not like black and red is a difficult color scheme to come up with.

Not really that, it's that it follows a similar pattern with a couple other things beyond the costume that brought it to mind.

And speaking of which, it feels really weird to be discussing a black spidey costume that isn't a symbiote, doesn't it? Can't wrap my head around it fully.

Dare to resist? How is that even a question? It's time to take out the trash. With a gesture, you command the Sprite to prepare itself to attack. To your surprise, it instead jumps onto you, dissolving itself into a watery shell around your body. You feel something touch your cheek, and notice little trails of blood flow out of your many wounds, though you don't feel anything. The shell that surrounds you briefly turns crimson, and then several tendrils of blood rush out of it and pummel the armor into submission, leaving its whole body covered with cracks. The attack complete, the Sprite reforms, and looks up at you before turning its attention back to the armor.

[Feyslaughter Armor HP remaining: 15/100]
[New Combination Attack Found! Combination Attack Turn The Tides has been added to character sheet.]
[New Combat System Discovered! Combination Attacks have been added to the Glossary.]

The armor teeters on the brink of defeat. It can't take much more, but it seems to have one final ace up its sleeve as its gauntlets begin to glow with a sickly grey colour.

"A nice trick. But this ends now, fool." Rushing forward with incredible speed, the armor rams you with a sideways hammerblow that sends you flying until you crash against one of the platform's pillars. Your vision blurs for a moment, and you feel something is out of place around your chest area...a strange pain pressing up against your skin. You recover, and barely manage to stand up, however. Something tells you that if you let the pain distract you, you will soon never have to worry about pain again.

Upon seeing you injured by the armor, the Sprite intensifies its attacks on your aggressor, slapping it with a potent gout of water that makes a ringing noise when it strikes metal. The water splashes everywhere, coating the windows of the train carts passing by, just before they're whisked out of view.

[Feyslaughter Armor HP remaining: 64/100]

You need to keep the pressure up. In spite of being outnumbered, the armor doesn't seem to be in truly bad position, what with that blow it just threw at you. Maybe another application of your new talents will change that, however...

Concentrating, you manage to make a crack appear near the center of the armor's chest plate...

[Feyslaughter Armor HP remaining: 49/100]

...But can't do more before the armor brings its fists down on the ground with tremendous force, creating powerful shockwaves that cause bits of the station's platform to fly at you like shrapnel. The Sprite lets out an oddly pitched whimper as it is hit too. You're lucky enough to avoid anything more serious than a few cuts to the face, but the platform now looks like a war zone, with broken floors and chipped lights. Once again, the armor speaks.

"Hm. You dare resist me, whelp? That was but a sample of my powers. You would do best to accept your doom and stop prolonging your agony."

[Battle Theme 1, Unmanned and Unfeeling:

You only need to glance at the armor, then back at the little creature for it spring to action. Almost as if it knew by instinct what you want it to do, it raises its arms and a stream of water flows from it, hitting the armor in the chest. The Sprite then lets out an ululating cry, and the armor is covered by dents as the water explodes with tiny sparkles.

[Feyslaughter Armor HP remaining: 92/100]

While your new ally is busy bombarding the armor with miniature explosions, something stirs within you, something cold yet hot, determined and dangerous. Today isn't the day you'll die, and a walking piece of Ren Fair equipment will not send you to the afterlife. This thing is going to die.

You don't even have to raise a hand, or try to attack it. The armor is simply sent hurtling backward, the chest and right shoulder parts of it buckled inward, as if they had been smashed with a hammer. You grin. Is this water's blessing? If so, this should be a cinch.

[Feyslaughter Armor HP remaining: 72/100]

The armor proves that our confidence was unfounded immediately afterward, however, as its super-sized fist hits you dead-on. The air escapes your lungs, and you fight to repress the urge to shout as the spikes on the gauntlet tear at your flesh.Dozens of minor cuts cover your chest, and you struggle to breath. Looks like you can't count that thing out just yet.

That team has no range and terrible options for dealing with fliers. It's super weak to zoning except for Wesker and Jill Machinegun Sprays, which aren't realy sustainable. The big problem is that Chun and Jill fill the same niche. Jill has more anchor power if you're a wizard who can make Mad Beast work for you, while Chun is more reliable. I'd say you should drop one of the two and get a character who can either help you open up enemies (Akuma), or somebody who can deal with rangespam (Iron Man, Magneto, etc.) and flying.

"So shall it be. Your power lies with your emotions and the bonds they help you establish, youngling. Receive water's blessing!"

The station seems to quake as the voice speaks, and even the suit of armor is taken aback, forced to stop attacking to stabilize its footing. You feel something warm at your side, and when you turn your head down you see a cocoon of water enveloping your wounds. You feel a brief sting of pain, and then the water drops down to the ground with a splash, leaving no trace of injuries behind.

"Your ability to reach deep into the hearts of those around you and bring out the best in them shall make you mighty, youngling, and it will be an aegis that will protect you from all harm. Make good use of the Empathic Sprite your blood has given birth to, youngling, and you may survive what is to come. Good luck!" And with that, the voice is gone. You don't quite know how to put it into words, but it is clear it has broken contact with your mind. You don't have the time to wonder about it, anyway: the armor has recovered its balance and is preparing itself to strike. It throws its gauntlet at you, but you manage to duck under it just in time. Odd...you feel swifter on your feet than you did before, and could clearly see the attack coming before it struck.

As the gauntlet is recalled, you hear a strange sound coming from the pool of water next to you. It rises up through the air without being lifted by any hand, and coalesces into a hand-sized ball of translucent water. It then falls back down, but when it touches the floor again it has taken a new shape: beside you now stands a tiny humanoid creature made entirely out of water, with stubby limbs and a round head. Its body ebbs and flowing slightly, and two small red specks in the middle of its head are the only part of it that doesn't seem to be in motion. As the armor readies itself to throw down the gauntlet again, the tiny creature looks up at you, inquiringly.

Begin Combat Phase:

Combat is very simple: You select an action to do each round for each character that is a part of your party, then the actions are processed in whatever order is most favorable unless you wish to follow a specific order of execution. Each character has five stats and an element, as well as an array of special abilities that will grow over time. Additionally, all characters have access to a basic attack that deals their STR value in damage. For info on what the stats do, consult the character sheet linked below. Battle moves have a deadline of one-hour or first vote (whichever comes latest) for the sake of speed unless otherwise noted.

that's true of every fg. for SF4 we complained about Sagat, then Blanka, then Rufus, then Ryu, then Balrog, then Guile, then Bison, then Yang and Yun. Marvel's got a ton of stuff to complain about, but when you remove one thing you just add in another. the goal of Marvel seems to be that everything is broken in a fun way and you just want it to be equally broken. that game will never be 100% balanced just because of its nature.

Nobody sane wants a 100% balanced game, just for CapCom to avoid characters that don't work from a design standpoint. Phoenix is like that because "nuke her down/outplay her" doesn't work on her either as a strategy or as a tactic (you nuke her team down and she builds to 5, you nuke HER down and she combo breaks you then fires up XFact and ROCVs you). She'll be far more tolerable once she loses some of the stuff that makes her play a different game.

Negative on this. Pretty damn sure the Top 8 was made up of all the characters we KNEW were good like six months ago. Doesn't change the fact that the matches were very exciting, but let's not go too crazy, eh?

Responding to the two points above:

Shoto, I 100% respect Viscant playing to win and winning. I simply think of Phoenix as being like ST Akuma because she also plays an entirely different game, and I'm not talking about the resurrection, X-Factor boost, or anything of the sort. I may not like the cornerstone of his strategy, but I can respect the man anyway. I wonder how he'd have done without Phoenix though: he'd have placed, but the question is, *which* place? We'll see next year when he comes back to defend the MvC3 crown.

And concerning his other characters, Bio, I think what is important to remember here isn't that he wasn't helpless without Phoenix, but rather that he played not just the game, but the metagame excellently. I could care less about the number of variations he found for the resets because he didn't need them: his true accomplishment was managing to find the combinations in the rules that allowed him to draft a far more powerful team than anybody else's: he had four characters, two anchors, an assist that couldn't possibly be interrupted by anything, didn't need super bar on his two first characters, and who knows what stuff I'm forgetting. He got past the flashiness, broke the game down to the numbers, obtained an immense numbers advantage, and used it so well nobody could beat him. And very well done on his part. All hail the champion who fought smarter, not harder to win.

It being free doesn't change the fact that Capcom is no better than a bad PC developer now.

"We can fix everything with a patch later" is a major reason why PC gaming is handicapped, and why console developers don't learn from mistakes of the past is beyond me.
It's not patching that's the issue. The issue is that they don't apply hotfixes before the major patch to get rid of the completely obvious things.

JC, you do realize that patches aren't free for console gaming, unlike what happens with PC gaming? Youi have to pay Microsoft and Sony assloads of money to be allowed to patch, go through a rigid process of paperwork, and IIRC there's a limit to the number of patches you can do ANYWAY. CapCom doing this is a sign of them being a smart company and trying to make up to the fans for the other dumb stuff they've been doing.
