You see those lifeboats hanging off the side? Well each of them can hold 450 people:

Tschudi Logistics Group has recently been commissioned to deliver the full logistics setup for the transport of 17 lifeboats that will be installed on the cruise ship. Each lifeboat has the capacity for up to 450 people, measuring a total of 6,715 cubic metres.

Well I unexpectedly added scope to my work and started cleaning the shower glass of all the crap on it, and then sprayed ceramic wax and waxed it.

It worked. It just beads all the water and water just runs off the shower glass door. Pro tip for others, with glass shower doors and walls.

Okay, but do editors and CGI folks use 18K work flows to maintain that resolution? If so, why not just disperse in 18K, and save the difficult shipment / management of film?
For example, Marvel and most other movie studios use 2K (or 1080p) workflow, and then upscale it to 4K later for digital release (in theaters and for home Blu-Ray).

ChatGPT's Answer:

As of my last knowledge update in September 2021, ChatGPT (GPT-3.5) and Bard were both AI language models developed by OpenAI, but there might have been changes or developments in the AI landscape beyond that point. However, if we consider why ChatGPT might have been more popular than Bard up until that time, there are several potential reasons:

  1. Availability and Exposure: ChatGPT was more widely available to the public, while Bard might have been a more restricted or limited release. As a result, ChatGPT received more exposure and usage by developers and users across different applications and platforms.
  2. Model Features and Use Cases: ChatGPT was designed specifically to facilitate conversation and generate natural language responses, making it more suitable for chatbot-like interactions. On the other hand, Bard may have been designed for a different set of use cases or applications, possibly making it less relevant or accessible to the general public.
  3. Model Performance and Training Data: ChatGPT was built on the GPT-3 architecture, which represented the cutting edge of language models at the time. It had been trained on vast amounts of data, making it more powerful and capable in terms of generating human-like text. Bard, being a different model, might not have matched ChatGPT's performance or scale.
  4. Marketing and Branding: OpenAI may have focused more on marketing and promoting ChatGPT, leading to greater awareness and adoption within the AI community and beyond. A strong brand and marketing strategy can significantly impact the popularity of a product.
  5. Community and Ecosystem: The existence of a robust developer community, providing resources, tutorials, and tools around ChatGPT, could have contributed to its popularity. This support ecosystem can foster adoption and make it easier for developers to integrate the model into their applications.
  6. Cost and Accessibility: The pricing and accessibility of the models might have been different. If ChatGPT was more affordable or offered free usage tiers for experimentation, it could have attracted more users.
Remember, this information is based on the situation as of September 2021, and developments may have occurred since then. For the most up-to-date information, I recommend checking the latest news and updates from OpenAI or other relevant sources.

Bard's Answer:

There are a few reasons why less people use Bard compared to ChatGPT.
  • Bard is newer. ChatGPT has been around for longer, so it has had more time to build up a user base. Bard is still under development, so it may not be as polished or as user-friendly as ChatGPT.
  • Bard is more limited in its availability. ChatGPT is available to anyone who wants to use it, but Bard is currently only available to a limited number of people. This is because Bard is still in beta testing, and Google is gradually rolling it out to more users.
  • Bard is more focused on research. Bard is designed to be a research tool, while ChatGPT is more focused on generating creative content. This means that Bard may not be as well-suited for some tasks, such as writing poems or stories.
However, there are also some advantages to using Bard. For example, Bard is able to access and process information from the real world through Google Search, which means that it can provide more up-to-date information than ChatGPT. Additionally, Bard is able to learn and improve over time, which means that it may become more powerful and useful in the future.

Overall, both Bard and ChatGPT are powerful language models with their own strengths and weaknesses. The best choice for you will depend on your specific needs and preferences.

32k for a roof? I did a roof at the height of covid in late 2020, early 2021 - when supplies were scarce, and insurance paid 8k for Owens Corning Duration shingles on a 1904 sq foot single story home (that's a lot of roof). And if you paid 32k in AC, you must have a double system meaning you have at least 2 stories in your house (maybe 3 if basement). So your roof is smaller on a multi story house than one story of comparable size. And you talk of your AC system as it is a singular unit.

OP doesn't add up, leads me to believe it is full of inaccuracies.
House is cathedral and is wide; doesnt build up top like most multi story houses. Also, cost includes 7 skylights that I replaced, of which 3 of them are powered and openable.

This 100%. My mistake was looking for average cost of replacing these items, and not scaling it to our house.

For example, average house has 15-20 squares of roof; my house apparently has ~50. An average house has one AC/furnace unit of 3-tons / 60k BTU; my house has three fucking AC units each 5-tons / 120k BTU.

I mean, these all sound like things you know are coming when you're looking at the house, going through inspection, etc.

What year is the house? I bought one a few months back and my biggest stipulation was it's gotta be very new. We ended up finding a 2018 3br/2ba split level for 342k. Zero big ticket items so far (knock on wood)

Older houses are money traps for sure, but if you did your due diligence, the items you mentioned shouldn't exactly come as surprises.

Having said that, does your homeowners insurance not cover the wind damage and leaking? That seems like a bad policy if so.

Will_VIIII posted...
Did you not have an inspection prior to the sale?

Like literally all of that would have been mentioned.

Also some of that would have been covered by insurance so I'm sus of the op
Insurance covered wind damage to the fence at a depreciated value, and they rejected to cover any roof damage. They claimed roof was incorrectly installed to begin with. I actually went through an independent arbiter that I hired, and they fucking sided with the insurance company.

2019 - Purchased house.
2020 - Cost $11,500 to repaint the house (house is half wood, so needs to be periodically repainted).
2020 - Wind damage, cost $7,300 to repair fence, side of house, and roof. Roof started to leak after this. Periodically patched it, and then...
2021 - Cost $32,200 to replace roof and skylights.
2022 - Gutters started to overflow and leak. Cost $7,000 to replace gutters.
2023 - AC broke. AC is 22 years old, so we're just replacing it. Cost $16,000.

So just in the past 4 years, we spent $74k just in big-ticket maintenance. Renters have it lucky.

When the house was built, basement wasnt finished so its like 3200sqft, which I guess 4-tons is good enough (though idk why they would think that what with the cathedral ceilings, no attics, and windows everywhere). But now that the basement is finished (complete with its own entrance and giant 4x4 egress windows everywhere), it counts as livable space.
