Imagine being able to just straight up GIVE a kid 12k a year (even if you could write it off), thats in addition to room and board, food, clothes, health, childcare, extracurricular activities, entertainment, etc, etc.

Sound like this is another tax loophole that only benefits rich people.

Government: Hey did you know if you have a billion dollars you can put your money on a private jet and just fly it around forever and as long as the plane never lands you dont have to pay any taxes on the money, also the plane and gas are 200% tax deductible so basically we pay you.

Me: well I dont have a billion dollars, I just barely have a few thousand, and I have some medical cost and student loans what can do.

Government: Oh my god, why is it the governments job to help you. Just for asking such a stupid question were gonna tax you double.

You telework? Hire your kid as a personal assistant to clean up your office a few hours a week, pay them a reasonable wage for a personal assistant, and keep logs of hours worked and tasks completed. Limit paying your kid $12k/year, and then give them a W2.

Assuming you are a sole proprietorship (or a single-member LCC, or an LCC owned by you and your spouse), if you limit paying your child $12k/year, you pay no FICA/FUTA taxes, no medicare taxes, no social security taxes... basically no payroll tax at all.

You get to deduct $12k/year in business expense (so you get rewarded for this), your kid will make really little so they're not self-sufficient and you can still take the child deduction, your kid won't pay any income tax because their income is so little, and your kid can invest into their IRA making it even more tax free.

You can save a ton in taxable labilities, while giving your child a huge leg-up! Your child can start as early as they're born, if you have certain businesses (e.g., using your child's photo as a model for your business; obviously, this example doesn't work if you're a wage-earner and employed by a company).

According to the Wall Street Journal, Goldman Sachs is in talks with American Express about transferring its Apple partnership. This comes after Goldman revealed in January that it had lost over $1 billion on the Apple Card deal so far.

NGL ours doesnt eat sitting down a lot these days. We set up bowls in a space that has hardwood floors instead of the carpet. Its not a perfect system.

I forgot that she loves noodles. So we make her noodles often, and thats a huge mess.

also consider that toddlers really dont need a lot of food so its possible theyre filling up on just a little, or even not at the stage to be eating bigger meals and should be eating smaller snacks throughout the day

Good point. We feed her 3x (breakfast, lunch, dinner), and feed her random snacks in the middle, with a night time bottle.

No one told me having babies objectively sucks... everyone I talked to = rose-eyed glasses, and how cute and amazing babies are. I think they all forgot the infant/toddler phases... I vented here when she was like 2 months old, and I was on the verge of going insane because of lack of sleep and constant neediness of a baby, 90% of people here called me a terrible father.

I've never grown up around babies, so I had no expectations of what babies are like.

I legit did not know babies throw food on the ground like it's nobody's business. So much food wasted... more than half of food we make and give = thrown out.

If a baby throws stuff a lot for food, just feed them yourself. It's possible they aren't intentionally throwing it. They still have crappy hand eye coordination.

She hates getting fed with a spoon. She loves feeding herself. She eats fine, then after a few pieces of whatever we give her, she starts to get bored and throws food to the ground. I know she's still hungry, because after we finish eating, we give her whole milk, and she drinks it a lot. We're currently working on phasing out bottle feeding, and only bottle feeding her whole milk once a day now (for evening).

High chair with suction cup plates. Feed her finger foods that dont make a mess. Baked chicken nuggets with added veggies are a staple.

We don't even use plates right now. We tried when she ways about 9 months old, and she just picks it up to play with it. I tried suction plates, but she figured out how to remove the suction. I don't think we've ever given chicken nuggets yet... we've been giving her mainly healthy foods (carrots, broccoli, bananas, strawberries, toast, muffin, turkey pieces, chicken pieces, eggs, cheese, baked potato).

Baby is now 13 months old, and holy crap does she throws food everywhere. Trying to discipline = nothing (e.g., not reacting when she throws food to the ground, saying NO, slapping hands, bribing with food she likes... NOTHING WORKS) and Googling says toddlers don't even know the concept of discipline; so wtf do you do?

All I did is buy a bunch of expensive cleaning stuff I never thought I'd need (e.g., cordless hardwood wet/dry cleaner and a cordless stick vacuum), and place them out in the open literally in the kitchen corner since we need it like 3x a day.

Use Firefox mobile + uBlock origin.

Firefox iOS doesnt have plug in support. I do use AdGuard for iOS and get ad block via VPN; this doesnt work at all for Reddit though.

None of the ad blockers work to block out sponsored content on Reddit; theyre served by the same domain as Reddit itself.

Oh man, the official app has no way to hide read posts automatically or while you scroll. That sucks.

How to look into it? My credit has been frozen for years now, and opening up brokerage account doesn't really require a credit check, so I have no idea how to check what would be opened or not.

Alright, so they told me to mail in a signed W9 form so that they can ask the IRS to verify that I am who I am, and then they'll close out the other account so I can create a new account.

I'm on the phone with Vanguard now, and they transferred me to their fraud department. I'm looking up SEC.gov to see if there's anything I have to do.

I went to open up a Vanguard account, to transfer my IRA and brokerage account from Betterment, and during the account creation process, it kept getting me errors. So I called Vanguard, and they looked up my full social, and they said an account already exists with my full social, but under a different name, different birthday, different address... and that account does not have a non-zero balance.

Metal Gear 4 was crazy AF. I mean all the games were weird, but there was something off about the 4th game that I didn't like much. Maybe it was because Snake was old and you really were vulnerable throughout the game.

Metal Gear 4 did get me teary eye though at the part you return to Shadow Moses.
