| Firewood18 12/04/17 11:19:40 PM #11 | So I put in a few hrs into FC2. I'm at 2%. First impression is that it's vastly a hostile environment and a hard game to just breeze through. Mechanics and realism are ok. The lighting is crazy but its a very brown game (no pun intended since its set in Africa). I'll probably play it for a few weeks and not finish it. I'm only forty pages into The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle and loving it. I like Philip K Dick as a writer but one single book of his wouldn't make my top fifty. Buk and Miller are great and so are Mailer and Auster. Then there is Vonnegut and Swift killing it with satire. Celine with his ultimate pessimism. Nabokov with his crisp derision. Throw in a couple of Rushdies and Roths. So, so many others... Fante, Camus, Nerrsasian, Saramago --- Nobody is perfect. Well, one guy was but we killed him. |
