Kim_Seong-a 01/22/25 6:58:28 PM #1 | My shitty ass Dell could barely handle 3 back in 2002 and by the time I had a half-decent machine the hype had already passed. But a coworker convinced some of us to play so we started some characters on a classic server. Honestly was not expecting to have this much fun with it. I'm like level 14 now and it's kinda addicting. Also had my first gamer encounter when some rando walked up to me and started sending weird harassing messages because they thought I killed some quest monster they were after. Who the hell is running Ghost Belle? Mayakashi Skeleton jank is helping me with the new event missions. Getting KoSS to 10,000 and beating over the Buster Blader link felt good. I really hate Buster Blader lol. I even ended up doing a jank Mayakashi/Skull Servant Mashup. If you go first you do the Mayakashi combo, and if you go second you bone them. The mills from Wight Lord also help set up Mayakashi a bit, while one archetype can usually bait the ash/imperm for the other. It's far from "good" but it's funny when it works. (I just have to remember if I use Linkuriboh to get SS going I can't us Dakki's synchro chain) I also did an absolutely toxic game against Ninjas with my Harpie deck where I Feather Stormed them two turns in a row. Topic | Will We Ever Get a Good Frankenstein Movie Again? |
Kim_Seong-a 01/13/25 12:25:52 AM #5 | Frankenstein is a story of enduring complexity and adaptability, and recent adaptations should not be dismissed as failures simply because they take creative liberties or focus on action elements. Instead, these films can be seen as modern interpretations that explore new dimensions of the original tale, appealing to contemporary audiences in innovative ways. Take Victor Frankenstein (2015). While it strays from Mary Shelleys original narrative, it offers a fresh perspective by emphasizing the relationship between Victor and Igor, adding depth to the story through its exploration of their partnership. This humanizes the tale in a way that resonates with modern viewers who may value character-driven stories. The dynamic performances by James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe bring an emotional intensity that complements the novels themes of ambition and responsibility. Similarly, I, Frankenstein (2014) may have been a bold departure from Shelleys work, but it reflects the cultural zeitgeist of its time, where action-packed fantasy films were in high demand. By imagining Frankensteins creature as a warrior caught in a celestial battle, the film asks provocative questions about identity and redemption. While not a traditional adaptation, it uses the framework of Frankenstein to address contemporary concerns about belonging and purpose in a world dominated by chaos and conflict. Adaptations like these dont necessarily "miss the point" but rather reinterpret the themes of the original novel through a modern lens. They demonstrate that the essence of Frankensteinambition, humanity, and isolationcan be explored in myriad ways, ensuring the story remains relevant. While purists may prefer faithful retellings, there is room for experimental adaptations that challenge traditional expectations and spark new discussions about the iconic tale. Instead of lamenting these films, we should celebrate their attempts to keep Frankenstein alive in popular culture. Each version, no matter how unconventional, invites us to revisit Shelleys work and consider its relevance to the present day. The true mark of a timeless story is its ability to evolve, and these adaptations are proof of Frankensteins enduring legacy. --- Lusa Cfaad Taydr |

But then he wanted me to massacre the Brotherhood of Steel and NCR was open to...not killing everybody, so I defected. Though I did do a little bit of political assassination on the Great Kahns in the name of diplomacy. (Apparently there's a coup-less way around that but I must've missed it lol).
