Yeah but what are the odds for a dude in his early 30's? Not high enough to make me worry. If I get covid next decade, and I don't fare too well, then I'll consider.

But now? lmao.

I never got vaccinated for covid but got it in May. That week, I was still cooking for my family, I made sure to mask up and isolate myself since we were all supposed to go on a trip (had to cancel my tickets). No one got sick, they went on their way, and I, chillin' at home since the worst part was the second day.

Fuck, I never felt more liberated in my life after getting it. I holed myself up in my house for YEARS, from BEFORE the official lockdowns for this? I spent all this time, YEARS, terrified, monitoring the death rates and all the covid news, (on some of the most notorious sites because mainstream media was just TOO SLOW) for this? Come. On!

Stopped masking (unless I'm in a vicinity where it's expected), stopped caring. No longer was I that one dude who wore a mask at a gym, no longer was I that one guy sitting at the restaurant table with a mask.

So yeah, when I'm hitting 60 and hitting the ages that are most susceptible to covid, yeah I'll get vaccinated.

Until then, lmao.

Regarding the storyline, the character development is more subtle as opposed it being in your face regarding each of the characters' problems. The protagonist Rindo seems like a regular joe with no issues, but then you start analyzing this guy's thoughts; holy hell this kid is a real jerk. What I appreciate a lot from NEO is that you take on villains who share traits with Rindo but are represented in such a way where it demonstrates the pitfalls and how exploitable those traits are. The game wants you to replay the game to catch some of the intricacies of the dialogue and deliberate details. But I found this game, after some discussion to really let the storyline settle, this is probably one of the best game stories I encountered. The writing is superb.

Overall the game is a passion project and a labor of love from the TWEWY team. I'm pleased that Square recognizes this and is aware of the fan reaction from playing the game is ubiquitously overwhelmingly positive (they highlighted this in an investment report). But I am totally confused on why they sabotaged the game in the first place with piss poor marketing. Who the frig did Nomura piss off?

Your 'thought experiment' was presented in a one-sided way so that you could push the idea that youth and attractiveness were where a woman's value and appeal lies, and that the same did not apply to men. The desire to remain younger and healthier for longer is common to both sexs.

And I addressed that. That was in the first couple lines. However, there are other factors that make it more interesting for guys in why they would see value in"leaving the button alone" or even going up in age that don't apply to women.

ai123 posted...
And yet we have threads on this board where people bemoan the fact that 30 year old men have dating problems because dating college age women is 'creepy' and women over 30 are all single mothers.

"I have the opportunities where college aged women are willing to choose the older me over their own male contemporaries but I avoid these opportunities due to social stigma. I avoid women my age because 'life happened to them'".

You are helping my case here. Men and women perceived differently by society. Men and women's age is one of those categories that society doesn't treat the same. What do you want me to say?

Sounds like my point exactly. A society formed and shunned these behaviors.

I was talking like caveman days I'm sure rape was normal. We see it In wild animals I'm sure humans wherent much different.

Unless those primitive humans didn't have feelings of jealousy, love, the desire to protect, and all those other emotions; I don't imagine it to be the case. You need cooperation within a tribe to survive and people need to have some sense of security and safety.

If it's a foreign tribe invading, sure. They'll see the other tribe as less than human and more so "the enemy" so the males will get killed and the females will be taken in as wives at maximum, slaves at the minimum. Slaves on average and median too.

But I can also imagine the rules of engagement being different in how a caveman would initiate sex with a cavewoman and how she views and values the act. Perhaps how they do it could be considered rape by our standards, so you have a point here.

ai123 posted...
Here's another thought experiment:

The husband can de-age himself by 10 years, age himself by 5, or do nothing?

Most people place a value on being younger for themselves, as well as their female partner, so what does that prove?

Ignoring athletes who are incentivized to be young, for guys, a perception of power is a huge draw to men as it influences how people behave around them, how people perceive them, and ultimately how people treat them. For men, age can influence "perception of power". You can see this in how society treat 2X year old males, treating them like they don't know what they're doing (which is generally true) versus 3X year olds where they are generally more respected, have an easier time dating and whatnot.

Conversely, it's roughly looking younger as a guy. In grade school, we had an elementary school right next door to a HS, complete with the same uniform. I was shorter than average and younger so people would mistake me for going to the elementary school all the time. And my interactions with others were usually them talking down to me, not treating me as an equal.

But back to the main topic, yes there are sweetspots for ages and obviously some people will go down in age for more freedom and a healthier body (i.e. a 75 year old man would want to go down to 50 to feel more fluid again). But health aside, the rules of engagement with age are completely different between men and woman. What I talked about above, doesn't really apply to women.

@ai123 did you put ANY thought into this thought experiment? Or was that just a driveby first immediate thought post?

Before society I'm sure rape was normal.

You have a misunderstanding of how laws come to be.

Men have had mothers, sisters, daughters, and lovers since the dawn of time. So early early early on, men came to an understanding that because they don't want anything to happen to their darling mommies, little sisters, daughters, and wives, they came to an understanding, a gentleman's agreement, to treat other women in their own society like they were their own family.

But then there's always that one fucking guy who has to ruin it for everyone else.

Thus either groups had to socially outcast that one fucking guy who has to ruin it for everyone else and then when society came into place, X governmental entity had to write in laws and enforce it to prevent that population of the type that meets the criteria of that one fucking guy who has to ruining it for everyone.

But generally speaking, even in times of anarchy and chaos, it'll only exist for a short while before some hierarchy arises to get people to cooperate and generate some sense of safety and security. Things just need to be formalized into laws and enforced when there's too many of that one fucking guy who ruins it for everyone else.

Nintendo has enough cash reserves to survive something like 50 straight years of Wii-U like financial failures before they're out of money. People who said Nintendo are done just have no idea what they're talking about.

Nintendo was well off even before the success of the DS and could have survived if the DS flopped. However, Yamauchi discussed how the DS was a big deal to Nintendo morale-wise and they would have been in dire straits from a non financial standpoint had the DS not take off.

So I think the war chest point is a very shallow point since it ignores the intricacies supporting the personnel who need to be invigorated to generate successful products. A company going through a decade of flops is going to have a very, very difficult time climbing out of that hole even if they have the money to weather that seemingly perpetual storm.

More conservative. This mindset came from recognizing (and writing as abstractly as possible)

1) there are solutions that are generated with honest intentions but generate wildly different results in the long term due to new unforeseen environmental and social dynamics it creates
2) A lot of old traditions were created to target and eliminate specific problems and required full societal support, not opt in if you feel like it.
3) recognizing that yes, cooperation does lead to greater success but people have to be more or less forced by external forces to cooperate else they'll act in their own benefit
4) There's a tolerance level for every system. Exceed the tolerance level and the system will suffer as a result.

Basically exposure to game theory and behavioral economics redefined a lot of my beliefs. It helps that I'm invested in technology (my exposure) that forces people to behave in a certain way and it demonstrates the immense value of cooperation, however, bad actors deal sooooooo much damage to the system, thus more research is generated to create secure systems to prevent said bad actors from exploiting the system.

The appeal of crypto is two-fold:

- Private, secure transactions.

- Elasticity: buying low, and selling high.

Crypto as we know it is inherently public. Every blockchain has an explorer page that tracks all transactions. We do have some private blockchains like Z-cash or Monero that obfuscate all transactions. And there's a protocol on the Ethereum blockchain, tornado cash protocol but the lead developer got unconstitutionally arrested by the US feds for developing the protocol. At most, in general, you could say crypto is pseduononymous transactions due to your transactions being tied to a public address but that can be traced back to an exchange that usually has your identification.

NFTs are purely a format that lets you represent whatever that can't be represented as a regular token. Being representing a unique items within a class (trading cards), you can also represent identity for authorization purposes.

https://www.avengedsevenfold.com/news/avenged-sevenfold-heavy-metal-approach-token-gated-ticketing-

The above article is about a heavy metal band that generated NFTs for their fans who go to their concerts. Going to their concerts level up their NFTs, which in turn given them access to cheaper tickets (which helps alleviate scalper problems) and also discounts for merchandising. I've also seen another twitter influencer go on several different platforms but grant his following access to his content through holding an NFT of his.

Bank of America also did a study on ongoing blockchain endeavors and found California working on upgrading its BMV to tokenize vehicle titles and streamline the process of issuance. BoA also also found tokenization efforts in the supply chain to combat counterfeit items like luxury items like Louis Vutton bags or even counterfeit drugs in the pharmaceutical industry to save lives.

This type of stuff isn't sexy but it definitely has use in streamlining overhead. But banks are the ones with the wealth and the value so the NFTs they generate will be representing real value.

Doubly so you don't want to be stuck in a year long combo where you're powerless to contend to it. Linear Algebra was taught to me more abstractly so it was more difficult. That being said, they're both extremely important, LA more being more versatile only because it can be used for stuff other than calculus while for differential equations you'll see it the moment you start doing any kind of derivatives. But you'll see both in computer graphics and all upper level physics. Basically for Linear Algebra, you'll see it when you are looking at relationships with multiple variables and trying to solve a system of equations (for graphics; some coordinates of an object moving in 3D space). Differential equations, when you want to track the rate of change of each of variable (partial differential equations when tracking multiple variables' dervatives) (example: tracking velocity and acceleration, maybe the speed and acceleration the rotation of an object in 3D space).

The biggest issue about Mathematics is that we don't teach Mathematics with addressing the problem first. Math introduces a series of tools to make our lives easier in solving X and Y problems. But we teach the tools first so the significance is lost on the students.

I'll meet you halfway in that he could have handled the interview better (if it was reported truthfully). However, people use and abuse the word creepy for every little innocuous thing that puts them off. Hence, halfway.

No it's not. For an interview for a social media position, you can ask someone to showcase their Youtube personality to demonstrate how authentic they are (if you have to ask... probably not that authentic I guess) or what their onstage personality is like in person.

Yes, the interviewer came off as brash and rather unforgiving, but that question is acceptable to ask in the interview. Just not how he did it.

If that kind of logic shouldn't be applied to woman for the red pill nonesense they claim woman can't be trusted for, neither should people be openly okay with claiming similar rhetoric at men.

I feel like you're missing my point; if you don't have the discipline to respect boundaries, don't put yourself in an environment where you'll be tested. If your significant other doesn't trust you in a specific environment to maintain your boundaries, you should hash out that trust concern before you go back there. Gender is irrelevant. In fact, this can applied outside of relationships as well. If you go to a bar, refuse to respect your own alcoholic tolerance and get plastered and belligerent, the bar (and alcohol in general) is not for you.

No, it's not "obvious". Most women I know would have no problem with it, assuming you aren't paying for "extra".

And that's the issue right there. It's creating an opportunity for cheating and there are guys who will go for "extra" because they feel privileged as it's their last night being free. So I don't blame people who don't trust their future spouse enough to be disciplined enough to not take advantage of the moment and as a result ban their spouse from being in such situations entirely.

Did Sad Face hype NFTs or was that only crypto?

NFTs have strong use cases, however, its value is tied to what it represents. It representing JPGs obviously isn't going to have any value. But people have used NFTs for authentication and gatekeeping. There's this one heavy metal band, Avenged Sevenfold that gave out NFTs to their fans so they can receive discounted ticket prices and the more shows they attend, the more perks they receive.

But what banks are doing right now is that they've been doing pilot runs of tokenizing their assets and have them represented on the blockchain. The reason why they want to do this is because it distributed ledger tech runs 24/7 as opposed to the market closing after 5PM and it allows them to introduce new types of assets to include in a portfolio like even 0.1% of the royalty rights to some celebrity's song.

The above had taken place at SWIFT's Sibos conference just a couple days ago. I recommend hearing it from themselves.

Bro what the f*** are you even talking about.

Look at it this way. Which would spread farther? Virus A that spreads human to human via saliva or particles via breathing but it takes a week for the symptoms to show before rendering the human incapacitated. Or Virus B where the symptoms show an hour upon getting infected and leave the person incapacitated?

The former will allow farther transmission because a person could go about his day to day and spread without even knowing it. This is what Proto is talking about.

And your comparison to the Bubonic plague falls short when rats are a transmission factor. A better comparison would be to Ebola which struggled to spread because it killed the infected way too quickly.

Ahh so a method to increase transparency in contribution? I thought you were describing something that would address racial disparities in elementary/middle/high school education etc as the poster was referring to that aspect of systemic racism.

In the vein of the datasets I mentioned, I guess blockchains could be used for more data point collection to properly identify what is causing those racial disparities since systemic racism is a broad term. Then you can use smart contracts in some capacity to ensure fairness based on X,Y,Z conditions (say, meeting requirements to attend X school) while removing any possibility of rigging the system.

The possibilities are endless here due to the versatility of this revolutionary infrastructure. It just has to be put in use. Will it for the government, for the educational system? That's a good question. The current adoption is driven by the allure of profit and reduction of costs from efficient processes. Given how the government is guaranteed tax revenue, those adoption drivers aren't going to apply, much less in the educational system where they already aren't geared to ensure kids have the highest quality of education.

I'm not following your connection between smart contracts and racial disparities in education?

There's a movement going on to integrate blockchains with research as a form of accounting where you can use the ledger aspect to more accurately quantify who contributed what to a research project and have it reflected on the paper itself. In addition, blockchain tech allows for ownership of data so it allows people be compensated for contributions to datasets, creating a new monetization space.

I'm still reading up on this, but this movement is called decentralized science (DeSci) and is a branch of open science, a movement attempting to reduce the barriers to science in academia but it didn't gain much transaction before DeSci came about to utilize blockchain tools. Ultimately the goal is to drastically reduce the barriers of entry to become a scientist (indirectly answering your original question) and basically create a platform akin to Github but for research and not just open source contributions to programming projects. It's a small community so far, but if you already understand blockchain technology this stuff sounds like a nobrainer and easily achievable in the future.

It appears I misinterpreted your original post I responded to. I thought you implied you wanted a new title but with a different set of developers. I want to give Masato Kato another chance, the development team knew they could do a much better job.

i am not denying it was iconic, i am just denying that it had any material impact on his status as the king of pop in any way close to the impact his singing had.

MJ got the idea for the Moonwalk from Soul Train and it's critical part of his performance in Billy Jean. Everyone knows the lean in "Smooth Criminal", and everybody has copied some part of the dance routine in Thriller.

Heck, the kick, the pelvic thrust, the nod, "Hee hee!" what do you think of when you see those words? All MJ.

Go refresh your memory man. MJ prides himself in stellar performances. He even broke his back on stage and finished song in a spectacular performance while you could see him cringing in pain (look up the Earth Song accident). He was on another level of a human being, someone who was born to do what he loved to do. And this isn't going into how impactful of a person he is off the stage.

I'd rather give it to bums on the street then get another story from the creative team that gave us Chrono Cross because at least there's a chance the story won't suck with unproven talent.

Chrono Cross was supposed to be a spinoff and was refactored into a sequel with an extremely tight budget at the last minute, hence the massive plot dump at the end.

That being said, I'm sure you're aware I would disagree. Just leave the series behind if the old team moved on. If you give it to a new team, they might as well make their own new IP. If it had unique gameplay like The World Ends With You, then I'd agree with you, but not a story. The story and music are the absolute highlights of the Chrono series.
