But to contribute, Kelly Wang, or Amelia Wang, whichever she goes by nowadays. She got attention specifically because she was "too pretty" to be in porn. She's a special case since she most likely went in porn to rebel against her dad. I really want to know her story in case I have a daughter. I don't want to fall into the same trap her pops did.

Fair point. West and Sagal jumped the gun here, I wish there were more coordination between the 3 teams.

Canada's policy of requiring people to quarantine when crossing international borders if they are not vaccinated is not unique. A lot of countries have adopted such regulations.
Checking around and it seems quarantining for 10 days with proof being negative isn't enough. American truckers are completely barred from entering Canada if they're not fully vaccinated as Canada rescinded their exception for truckers in terms of entry without vaccinations.

I'm surprised these didn't start in the US

It started because Canada is issuing a vaccine mandate on the trucking industry. The states are divided on vaccine mandates (heck, even liberally dominated states are rescinding their statewide mask mandates for some reason) so there wouldn't have been a country wide consensus to issue a mandate of this scale.

Nintendo has a ton of studios. While there is the main Nintendo development company, it's composed of several development teams on top of having a number of subsidiaries and affiliates. And among Nintendo's inhouse studios, there's always a group that works on low budget experimental games like LABO or Wii Sports, and this is most likely an output from them. So what if this dude wants Wii Sports Part 3? There are other games and other studios to follow and Wii Sports is not going to take up much resources or affect other games' development pipeline. For instance, Monolith soft's Xenoblade 3 had a couple buddies of mine elated and analyzing every frame of the trailer and shocked the release date is set for September. Conversely us FE fans are busy sulking that Intelligent Systems has yet to offer anything new while we're getting another Warriors games, expanding the 3 Houses universe (and now setting the precedent for even more Edelgard alts for the Heroes mobile game, to our chagrin).

I don't see how this is mocking the trucking protest. One of the deaths at CHAZ took place because the police couldn't get in the area to give the clear for the ambulance to come in to treat the victim. The Ottawa protesters making sure there's an emergency lane open speaks to how well organized the protest is.

Now if 50% of the population gets offended by a color of an outfit, or interprets the color of the outfit negatively, then clearly according to that population, that outfit is making a negative statement.

The death of Amir Locke was tied to the police hunting for a suspect connected to a homicide. This is the reason why the crime rates are brought up in regards to the police brutality issue, blaming the police isn't going to reduce the amount the bullets flying in my neighborhood.

The idea of the amount of participants engaged on a specific Capcom forum to greenlight a title, I think Capcom didn't give a damn and was only giving lip service. Tons of awful bad faith takes on cancel culture ITT

Yes, Mencia was cancelled. Everyone is in favor of some forms of cancellation for some offenses and against it for other offenses. Literally everyone believes in cancel culture to some degree and saying "cancel culture isn't real" is a brain dead take.

Cancel culture is any widespread backlash a person receives or even just the threat of it controlling their actions.

It isn't all bad. Sometimes cancel culture is a very good thing. It depends on the person and what they did.

A lot of what gets people cancelled is whatever is "trending." So a social media algorithm is sometimes partially at fault.

When people rail against cancel culture, it's usually a specific part of it they don't like as opposed to the entirety of it.

Nowadays, people are rallied on twitter to "cancel" a person for petty reasons. "This guy said something rude 10+ years back, he needs to lose his job!!!". This is the what people are calling out cancel culture for, not for instances like Bill Cosby being accused by several dozen women of sexual assault or the the well accepted cardinal sin of plagiarism in the comedy field.

How is it looking for LINK?

$14.58 right now. If I had money to spare, I'd buy more. The market action right now is irrelevant. I'd be worried if your mum or gram gram were using services not knowing it was powered by Chainlink and the price was $20. Then I'd start worrying about my financial future. In any case, on New Year's day, Chainlink released a video by the CEO outlining the initiatives for the year; staking, CCIP (cross chain interoperability protocol), and becoming an enterprise abstraction layer. It's an hour long video and I just mentioned the most important things (and will mention other important tidbits below) but you can check out the video here.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YShbzR7mlog

Staking has been talked about for years but Chainlink is only now planning to release it because a number of decentralized oracle networks (DONs) have become profitable and no longer need to to be subsidized by Chainlink. So now the economics are in place to make staking worthwhile. Other staking protocols are essentially them paying staking participants a fee (via the interest rates) to incentivize them holding. Chainlink's staking protocol is to maximize security. If your node isn't up to snuff, you'll have to fork up your link holding to not maintaining a certain standard. This will be interesting because I don't believe every crowdsourcing node operator will accept every staker's tokens as it'll dilute the profits and there more than likely will be diminishing returns in how much visibility you'll get with a large sum of staked tokens. It's definitely going to have some interesting economics and it'll be needed for the coming abstraction layer to connect enterprise companies' systems (or internal blockchains) to public blockchains and for CCIP.

CCIP is something I'm super interested in just to see what kind of impact it'll have on the industry. Cross chain bridging is a heated and competitive field but I think Chainlink has an advantage because they're already integrated with over 1000 projects on multiple blockchains. They securely pass data, so it seems like a natural evolution to pass instructions too. A lot of people are theorizing that Chainlink will siphon a lot of value from Ethereum and pit Ethereum and every blockchain together to have them prove their right to exist. I want to be optimistic about Ethereum's future since they're the most secure blockchain for smart contracts (to exclude the BTC out the picture) and if anything, the price feed contracts that everyone depends on for DeFi should be on a Layer 2 roll up that depends on Ethereum for security. One thing I'm really excited about in is seeing how you could create a dapp that depends on multiple blockchains. I know the Ethereum Name Service would be thrilled to have the same readable name be usable on every blockchain instead of you manually managing multiple addresses. If I were to build a project, I'd try to build a ERC-20 ****coin washer with Monero's blockchain >_>

But regarding the topic at hand, there was a congressional hearing and they invited Chainlink's chief scientist Ari Juels to testify. Holy cow he did something I never thought was possible, he fudded the heck out of BTC, basically saying it was not necessary for the industry. Now granted, the BTC is completely removed from the rest of industry as it doesn't have viable support for smart contract development. But its importance comes from the tokenomics and having the largest network giving it the security to be treated as digital gold. To basically handwave off its value like that, why would you do this?

And even more shockingly, Chainlink's CCIP development is directed by Ben Chan, the creator of WBTC, wrapped BTC, basically BTC on the Ethereum blockchain where they lock up BTC on the BTC network and mint token equivalents to be used on Ethereum's blockchain. CCIP will basically mesh all blockchains together so you could have the best of everything. So Juels' words comes off as horribly disingenuous but of course the congressmen won't know since they're not privy to this information. You can check out his 5 minute opening statement here.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=1623&v=S39ywwB3crI

But yeah, the market may be in shambles, but if you're excited for the tech, don't worry about the market. Good things are happening.

For instance, we know that a good number of famous persons were draft dodgers for the Vietnam war while there were a few notable politicians who served for that war. You can (and people have) frame the draft dodgers as people who were unpatriotic, but if you delved into the matter further, 68% of all available males that qualified at the time dodged the draft.

And mind you, guys went through all lengths to make sure they fail the qualifications. Some guys partook in a fine glass or 2 of soy sauce every day to induce hypertension. There are stories of lads downing 3 pizza's every night to hit obesity to avoid the draft. Other men got braces. Or a letter of exemption from the doctor. Some voiced their opinion outright that they refused to fight for the cause and were jailed as a result. Because of this country wide fiasco of so many men refusing or dodging the draft, President Johnson's Secretary of State of the time, Robert McNamara introduced a plan, Project 100,000, where they enlisted overweight, disabled, low IQ and autistic men to fill the quota which was an absolute disaster.

The reason why I bring this up is that you can't avoid bias in history. Someone's story will be told. Someone's story will be omitted. And this is all to mold a perspective that is favorable to the storyteller.

So for a parent, obviously there's only so much you can influence a curriculum (never say never to the power of a good PTA I guess...) but you'll have to do your due diligence in find the values of the school and ascertain that their values and their standards meet your own.

What you're not taking into account is that there are only about 80 million people in the world who own any bitcoin (and probably substantially less own even $1000 worth), whereas several magnitudes more own gold. And that's only talking about in its pure state. Virtually every citizen of a first world country on the planet owns something that contains gold within it.

In the case of 100% crypto adoption, as I've said before, banks would create currencies and peg them to the BTC. The energy consumption won't scale up 1 to 1 with the userbase this way. In addition, this would replace the current banking system and reduce a considerable amount of overhead.

It's a fool's errand to look at the energy consumption and say blockchain is awful for the environment as it misses the nuances of what it aims to achieve and what grander benefits it would have should it achieve its goals. You gotta start learning about smart contracts. That tech is revolutionary, nothing short of life changing.

The f*** are you even talking about? Gold is valuable because it's a finite and relatively scarce resource. It has nothing to do with energy consumption.

The cost of mining gold in conjunction with above is what gives gold the properties it has to be a store of value across the ages. For digital variant of gold, it also cannot be easy to obtain, hence why I brought up gold as a comparison.

Also, a google search brings up that the bitcoin network consumes less energy than the gold industry.

Lol.

The current banking system has regulations to protect the consumer and uses less energy than cryptos (at least in countries like the US). So it's funny you think there's even a remote change crypto is going overtake the banking system.

The current banking system also allowed for a centralized entity to print out 40% of all U.S. currency in circulation in the past 2 years. This is unacceptable.

Have they stabilized yet? As long as their value is dominated by the collective whims of speculators, they can never take over the banking system. A currency needs to be relatively stable. Currently the massive energy requirements are doing absolutely nothing useful due to people viewing them as things to invest in and not actual currencies.

The purpose of the massive energy requirements is for security purposes. Gold wouldn't be as valuable if it were cheap to obtain. Same with the BTC. You want to have a network no centralized entity controls else you'll have instances like what's going on with the US currency being inflated with no community consensus. What I see in the future is that banks will create currencies that are pegged to the BTC or ETH or some basket of currencies. This way you have the security of the BTC where you don't need to worry about your savings devaluing by shenanigans, but you can essentially use the BTC in practice since it's currently too slow to be used in grocery store type transactions, where you don't want to be stuck at the cash register waiting for the transaction to process. Now if there's massive adoption, you don't have to worry so much of the volatility because everything is done in BTC.

Mind you, this is the tip of the iceberg of what the blockchain field has to offer. Web3 is going to be an absolute nightmare for a lot of sites because they eliminate the need for a middleman by what I'd say the blockchain's most innovative spinoff technology, smart contracts.

Stop falling for propaganda. Yes, Proof of Work Blockchains consume a ton of energy, but that's required for the security of the blockchains as BTC and ETH are aiming to absorb the current banking system.

I kind of wish that people would just stop talking about this NFT shit.

Then it would probably just go away and wouldnt even be an issue anymore.

NFTs have been in existence since 2017 or so and have been in active development since. They're here to stay. Right now, we're in speculation phase as we inch towards use cases that aren't possible in Web2.

If I were to write a story for a cartoon show and had the skills to pull it off, I'd have an adult as a protagonist, but have the MC as a teacher managing kids. School of Rock comes to mind now that I've typed this out. But I'd go this route because I enjoy mentorship in stories and the idea of being responsible for others' well being even if you're not obligated as though you're a parent.

This blew my mind away when I saw viewership counts for Rogan along with other big name news media.

https://www.reddit.com/r/JoeRogan/comments/rvdcea/oc_joe_rogan_viewership_vs_mass_media_ratings_for/

11 million viewers to CNN Primetime's 0.82 million. Holy flying fish. No wonder people want his podcast pulled. Really, you'd have an easier time convincing Rogan to adopt a podcast style where he brings on interviewees who can represent both sides of an issue well.

Let me rephrase since I misspoke. If I choose not to go the path Jesus spoke of, this doesn't imply that I love money, it's that I chose not to take his route to become perfect.
