Played a little Outland today, got to the city. How do you kill that giant enemy with a shield after the maze? Everything I try doesn't seem too work or he blocks it with that damn shield.

If it's the huge one, attack its feet when it doesn't have the shield stabbed into the ground, then attack its head.

I'll probably start Outland after I'm done with the DNF and LBP plats to see what all the fuss is about. Demo seemed alright so maybe there's something there

Although I hear the final Lords of Shadow DLC is out tomorrow finally so I'll have to check that out too

if anyone must go it has to be chloe

"But don't get too attached to the brainy blonde or wickedly-curved Aussie, because Naughty Dog co-president Evan Wells says he'd have no hesitation in killing off one of the pair - or any other major character - if the storyline called for it."

"We're not dogmatic about anything," he told us when we asked if bumping off one of the lead characters was something Naughty Dog would consider. "If that is what it takes [to advance the storyline] then that's what it takes. And not just for dramatic shock value - it would definitely have to tie into the narrative that [we're] trying to tell and expose an aspect of Drake's character that we would want to delve into."

"We are trying to keep things fresh and draw certain aspects of Nate's personality out as well as the characters he's surrounded with," he explains. "Chloe and Elena are back but they aren't the emphasis of the story the way they were in Uncharted 2. This time round the emphasis is on Victor Sullivan and his mentor/protégé relationship with Drake."

Chloe's one of those characters you could kill off and nothing would really be lost of importance to the story or the other characters. She doesn't really have any tight relationships with Drake (well sorta but not really), Sully, or Elena. I know she was considered a main character in UC2, but she could've been a one-off who never showed up again and it wouldn't have been a big deal. There was no reason to bring her back other than just to bring her back.

She has a history with Drake that they've briefly touched on but haven't gone into much detail about, and she can match his cunning, but yeah, she's the weak link of her, Sully (the best), and Elena. I can understand why they brought her back. It's nice to hear that the story is focusing less on the girls and more on Drake and Sully, though. You could get that from the trailer, but it's nice to hear that's the direction they're going in. Got a good villain this time, too.

Finished the main game for Brotherhood. Man, it's like they try to one-up the previous game in terms of messed up endings. Fun game though. Gonna go back and try to finish some of the stuff I didn't get done before the game ended, like the Romulus Lairs. I did manage to get one of my assassin trainees promoted to an assassin! What a proud moment.

I'm still new with my PS3. How do I find out how much space everything on it takes up? Before getting Infamous I had 130GB, but the only things I have on it are a small demo and a Killzone 3 save so I don't know how it took up so much space. I deleted all my other demos and as far as I know KZ3 didn't install itself so I can't seem to figure out how I ate up that much GB with virtually nothing.

Yeah, Brotherhood's ending was way too abrupt, but that seems to be the series' M.O. It'll have a satisfactory ending one of these days! Hopefully Revelations will be it. The Desmond stuff was better in Brotherhood, at least.

I'm not sure I'm too keen on all the "Pieces of Eden" and all it entails as far as AC's storyline goes. It takes it from "Cool game set during real historical time periods" to "Uhhhhhhhhhhhh what is going on here"

System Settings -> System Information, IIRC. Mine's getting pretty full recently what with inFamous and LBP sitting on the hard drive. Maybe I should get all those Blast Shards after all so I never have to play inFamous ever again!

Also I'm expecting AC to have completely crazy twist endings until the main story ends. So that'll probably be the AC for next year.

Speaking of which I never did The Truth in Brotherhood. I think I'll go do that now.

As far as endings, the only one that left me kinda frustrated was AC1, but only because I don't think there was an indication that it would continue as a series. The others give you just enough that your mind starts thinking about things and making you want more.

AC2's ending was 'WHAT'; Brotherhood's was 'Uhhh.' Good stuff. Revelations will probably gave another cliffhanger in regards to Desmond, but it'll wrap up the story concerning Ezio and Altaïr.

It's just too sensitive sometimes. Sometimes you'll only mean to jump a small bit but end up waaaay overshooting, or....other things. One time I was halfway up the building and saw some guards, so I hit O to be all stealthy and hang off the ledge I was on. Of course, Ezio for some reason took that to mean "jump down off the building" instead of "grab on to the edge and hang down." :\

Anyways after a lot of messing around I unlocked THE TRUTH. That was definitely.....truthful. I sincerely hope Revelations lives up to its name!

You need to rebuild the aqueducts around the city to get to that Lair. There should be an architect standing around broken parts of it that you can pay to fix them.

You asked about UC characters and story, I wanted to answer a bit more but didn't have the opportunity.

UC1 and UC2 spoilers ahoy

Nathan Drake is a watered down mix of Indiana Jones and Han Solo. When he has a sense of right and wrong about something, he falls into it easily and intensely. But he's also a shallow jerk to everyone, and we forgive him these trespasses because he's attractive and talented. He admittedly doesn't think very far ahead, and his plan to double cross Flynn backfires, yet his shallow nature permits him to begin thinking he is the victim in all of this, and continue to hold onto that notion. While this plays into the "among thieves" line, it still shows Drake as a narrow-visioned guy who rarely thinks beyond what is immediate to him.

In UC1, Drake is just an action hero with some funny little comments, a drive to follow his ancestor's path, and hey let's save the world too. It's odd that he is so intent on saving the world when he's really more of a scavenger, but if you head off into the sunset with the girl, the gold and having saved the world? there's really no characterization you need to worry about at all. So coming out of that game, Drake is fairly meaningless. He's not even a mascot.

UC2 Drake is a bit more puzzling. He ditches Elena and has moved onto Chloe. Elena and Chloe even joke about it being a "last year's model" situation. Drake spends much of the game risking everything to bail out Chloe, who has double crossed him. Elena gets randomly pulled into it, and at the end... Drake loves Elena. Drake's own actions suggest entirely the opposite, and without any real means of exploring his intentions or struggles (we don't even manage generic afraid-to-get-close tropes), he's actually interested in Elena. It seems to be meant for the gameplayer and not the character. in this sense Drake is a perfectly realized juvenile male romance novel character, but as an actual character, poorly realized. If we just want a guy who just jumps and shoots and looks good enough to get whatever he wants, that's Drake. We're just lucky that what he wants is treasure, and by wanting that treasure, he stumbles into very specific opportunities to save the world. And we're lucky that he wants to save the world, though it doesn't really fit any moral set we've uncovered through the first two games.

The stories are fun. They're action movies. The villains are terrible. The village in UC2 actually adds a bit of texture to the series but they just blow it up with a tank. When it gets to the end of the village, you blow the tank up.

There's certainly no reason to be invested in the characters, though they make for a fun ride. And Elena isn't terrible.

I will say that UC2 does a great job of changing the action up. Plenty of action sequences are designed around you having various vantage points, or using stealth, etc. It's not just generic/poor cover shooting like UC1, though that does show up a little bit because the cover shooting mechanics are still probably third rate. But, let's consider the part where Elena and Drake are up in the mountains and they need to open a gate, so Drake climbs up and around and is on top of a gutted building that has enemies all the way down. Right here we can shoot our way through, stealth our way through, or stealth our way to a point where we have a combat advantage. That's terrific. It's probably a better realized sense of what stealth should be than anything in MGS aside from the Tanker.

I dunno. I felt like he showed more interest in Elena as the game went on. It was just awkward at first because they apparently didn't go their separate ways on the best terms. Drake's journal implies that he still has some feelings for her, too.

But Drake's the "Act first, maybe think later" action hero first and foremost, and that's where his charm lies, at least to me. While he keeps his own interests at the forefront, he does have a sense of a moral center that comes out from time to time, a la Jack Sparrow.

I don't really understand why you think it odd that he wanted to stop El Dorado from getting off the island. He follows right down the path of Francis Drake - he set out for something, something big, but realized afterward how horrifying it is. His intention is just not to let Roman and Navarro take it and sell to some terrorists. Nate's character always falls on the good side of things. He's seemingly after gold and riches, but when push comes to shove, he'll make the good moral choice. At the end of the day, that's why people like him - and it's one reason people always seeing a conflict between the story and the gameplay, though ND's defense of that had usually been 'Drake doesn't shoot first.'

I started cracking up when I read this, and it's also true. Uncharted 2 is a great game. Uncharted 1 would have been good if they just made it a movie instead.
