What makes you say that?

IIRC if you compare the average first-world citizen and the land area he or she indirectly consumes (farmland, etc.), if you multiply it by the world population you go past the area of fertile/useful land in the world (even assuming we gut the Amazon and such more than we already have). So at the very least, we're overpopulated if we want to maintain this standard of living.

(Of course if vegetarianism took hold in a big way we'd be fine in this regard.)

Well I dislike hypotheticals, but let me sound like an ass when I say I would destroy the poor, desperate region that mostly can't even take care of itself, that is also incredibly overpopulated by hundreds of millions which is a key contributor to why it can't take care of itself. I am tempted to call it a dumpster of humanity. And race isn't a factor at all.

Probably the most efficient and among the most advanced countries of the world who does more with one person than Africa does with 10,000.

Africa. It's either the tech/cars market take big hits or precious metals/gems markets take hits. Precious materials are pretty much in ever piece of tech we have so either way tech gets hit. I'd rather deal with a gen or two of clone shooters instead of $2000 ipods. Then again I am also speaking out of my ass on the matter.

We can make synthetic diamonds and the amount of precious metals required for technology is quite minimal and could be gotten elsewhere. Besides, the population would be disappearing, not the continent.

Are you familiar with Japan, outside of the Internet? Because there is so much more to Japan as a country, as a culture, that I can't imagine anyone coming to the conclusion you have based on that. Japanese people are amazing, and their culture is much the same - the entertainment products they create are such a small part of what makes the country great. Have you ever been there?

If you picked one place over the other you are not a bad person.

If forced to choose I would pick Japan as well. Bigger American ally, socially advanced, highly educated, forward thinking, technologically superior, etc.

Africa is the most uncivilized, underdeveloped place on the planet for the most part. In many places bordering on savagery.

If we're being 100% black and white, we would prosper more from this scenario if everyone chose Africa. By a landslide at that.

The whole love of anime and everything to do with that makes me sick. With that said, two of my best friends did go over there and told me about it, but it's not for me.
