Mostly because he's funnier. I'm pretty sure he's stronger and would clean the clocks of guys like Sarda and Darsh (and be cheered while doing so), before losing to, like...Seiya or something.

Honestly not trying to be a grump, but I don't find anything about him funny.

similar, not similar, i just see the guy as more boring than enjoyable overall. like when's the last time you met a guy who solves murder mysteries for a hobby and he has a fun, interesting, or desirable personality?

now, watching him lose would be fun. but win? to a guy who basically tries to win at puzzles? where's the fun in that. hell, it'd be a mystery that even neuro couldn't solve as to why nothing's workin' out. even he'd have fun losing the match!

Well yeah, but from the writeup, what he does is subject to The Audience's whims, and so far, they want him to lose, so lose he shall. Unless what he does isn't restricted to what The Audience wants.

Just a note to clarify for everyone: the Host does have Free Will and he can do his own thing. The Audience isn't a tangible being that forcibly compels him to do stuff, he just talks to them directly and sets things up to entertain them. So if he decided to defeat Neuro here, he wouldn't be locked down due to his disobedience and stripped of his powers - he'd just have to provide The Audience with entertainment down the line. The Audience knows what 'payoff' means after all!

Just to confirm here: the Host can basically does whatever he likes, which includes but is not limited to messing with stuff even beyond the fourth wall, based on whether or not it's funny or would satisfy the whims of the Audience. Is that relatively correct?

i mean when you think about it, all everyone really wants to see in this match is ganon. so in a mystery finish, should he lose, he simply did it to ganon by using neuro as a proxy. ganon still wins the match and ought to get the spell.

however some people are buzzkills. it's better to win so he can guarantee giving ganon the spell for next round. and ganon should in exchange get something from neuro. it's all for the real man of the contest.

How exactly does Ganon get anything from winning a match when we've always accepted that MPFC is non-canonical to the lives of its participating characters (for obvious reasons) and thus each match does not carry into the next?

Ganon gets spell progressions as it's an ability of his. Doppelgangers get those too though I think we haven't ever seen one (Except M1 Megaman maybe?). Same way all knowing characters know about their foes as long as they truly have an ability to identify skills and such.

Except canonically, these matches do not happen. The Ganon that faces his round one opponent and the Ganon that faces his round two opponent are the exact same because they're based on the actual Ganon. If previous MPFC matches carry over, then I'm going to be arguing that anyone who had a close match goes into round two badly injured. Also Lord Foul vs Mewtwo just got exciting because I'm thinking the most probable Foul vs Mercer outcome was where Mercer tried to consume him and got corrupted, so Foul now has a walking virus man at his side for the rest of this, and hell, he can pick up a psychic cat too if he plays his cards right.

This thing just got a hell of a lot more confusing and way more open to goofy BS, especially since now, all the omniscient people have a big advantage. Instead of seeing their opponent and knowing them, they start the MPFC with knowledge of all their future opponents. I think Sarda just got handed the title because his whole "seeing through time" thing has just made him prepare to retcon every action that will be taken against him regardless of how fast his enemies are.

I have no idea what the hell is going on in Act 3, but change to The Host after reading his feats, and assurance that he acts independently of what The Audience wants.
