The Rules:

-Matches will last exactly 24 hours. Votes after that much time has elapsed will not be counted, even if a new topic hasn't gone up yet.
-This is a contest to determine which character is the most *powerful*. Vote only for the character you think would win in a fight, not the one who's funnier, cooler, or sexier. If you don't do that I can't count your vote.
-BOLD YOUR VOTE. Unbolded votes will NOT be counted.
-Rallying is allowed. Alts are not.
-Fights will take place in a neutral terrain. This does not necessarily mean a *featureless* terrain: assume that both characters will have a chance to use all of their skills to the fullest here, barring setting-specific abilities and anything that requires the presence of multiple enemies (but see below).
-Characters start the fight alone. They don't bring allies with them, like Kerrigan and the Zerg Swarm for instance. Summons are allowed though, provided they're brought once combat has started.
-Fighters retain their usual personalities. They won't fight to kill unless that's their MO, and won't spam their best attacks to win unless, again, that's how they act in their original media.
-Similarly, fighters are unaware of their opponents capabilities at the start of the fight unless their powers facilitate them information (like knowing all there is to know in the universe - this would include who the opponent is and what he can do, as well as weaknesses)
-You don't have to justify your vote, but it helps. If you feel like you can add something to the debate, go right ahead!
-Seriously, BOLD THE VOTE. So important it bears repeating.
-Bracket Link, for viewing past results and future matches:
http://www.bracketmaker.com/tmenu.cfm?&tid=408528&tclass=

Past Results:

Sparks flew as LDoFOXHOUND Ocelot gave Urza a serious scare early on. Though he ended up doubled in the end after the most popular match of the contest (so far), he made a very valiant effort. Votals: 21-12.

(1) Neuro Nougami
external image
From Devil Detective Neuro, Neuro is a demon from hell. He weakens when fighting on earth, but his weakness is progressive rather than sudden. He is extremely resistant(able to tank up to an atomic bomb at full power) and has incredible speed, being able to catch a bullet with his eyelids. He also has access to the 777 Tools of Hell, which are tools he uses according to the situation.

http://nogamineuro.wikia.com/wiki/777_Tools_of_the_Demon_World

Neuro is also a super detective, able to tell an opponent's ability with merely a glance, once finding out a mutant by noticing the vibration in his molecules. By discovering a "mystery" or a secret that his opponent is hiding, he is able to eat the opponent's "soul" effectively destroying him in one hit.

(8) The Host
N/A
From the web serial Curtains Close, The Host is an extremely powerful entity who created the story of the serial, and the multiverse contained within. He is omnipotent and omniscient, able to perceive everything that has happened, is happening, or will happen unless he intentionally restrains his sight with no ill effects. He is extremely durable as well, ingesting large quantities of raw entropy without suffering any negative side effects, and has good enough reflexes to will time to stop on command in reaction to any attack. His main weapon is his ability to twist reality to his whims, derived from his connection to the story and its fourth wall (being aware of the fact that he is part of a fiction and addressing the readers directly time and again), which he uses not only to defeat, but also humiliate his foes (in a fight with another reality warper, who went on to become the God of a timeline granted to him, he used a fraction of his powers to spawn infinite numbers of clones, each as powerful as the original, teleport to the beginning of time to foil an attempt at assassinating him before the plan was even fully conceived, perfectly freeze time, redirect a special attack designed specifically to kill him, and land a variety of nonlethal hits using circus tricks and comical sound effects). His control over reality is so mighty that, with an utterance of a simple proverb in the right language, reality begun to unravel itself. When assuming a corporeal form, The Host is never seen without his trademark bladed cane, which currently stores the essences of several Concepts (such as Silence, Disease, and Despair). He is confident, arrogant, whimsical, and above all, extremely bitter and disillusioned about his lot in life, resigned to engage in the most ridiculous of pranks or the vilest tortures to satisfy the whims of The Audience.

So...yeah. I can't vote in this match due to the single biggest bias possible, but The Host has this. He has the same nasty, vile temper of Neuro while possessing muuuuuuuuuch bigger powers and more refinement in the ways he goes about playing with people, as well as being one of the few characters with actual ability to know his opponents' tricks beforehand. The Stakes aren't high enough to affect this fight, either.

Yes and Ni. As long as The Audience exists he has powers and they do not wane or increase (i. e. he's always set to "max" as it were, though he can use just a portion of them if he feels like it). While he does cater to the whims of The Audience, he does have some wiggle room, as demonstrated by the fact that he doesn't even begin to take a world-shattering duel seriously and how he decides to get drunk (though he could just warp himself into being boozed up) after the fact, as well as the way he despises his job.

Sorta. It's very much within his personality to lose if The Audience calls for it, but also his style to instead put on a show, like setting up a Vileness and Brutality 101 class to teach Neuro some lessons before sending him out to a heavenly paradise where he could put them to the test, defeating him by ringout, while ignoring his attacks all the way. As I said though, I do not believe the Stakes are sufficient here: this is a very run of the mill kind of affaire for the Host, he spends most of his time drilling some sense into insufferable, vain supernatural bastards and humilliating them. Maybe against a true blue hero that'd be a possible event, since The Audience loves dramatic underdog victories from likable characters.

No, the Host does what the audience wants him to. His powers are simply just "colossaly powerful reality warping with several showings". Basically this is personality arguments at their finest. If you think The Host doesn't consider Neuro a character interesting enough to lose to, you vote for him. If you think he does, you vote against him.

Just a note to clarify for everyone: the Host does have Free Will and he can do his own thing. The Audience isn't a tangible being that forcibly compels him to do stuff, he just talks to them directly and sets things up to entertain them. So if he decided to defeat Neuro here, he wouldn't be locked down due to his disobedience and stripped of his powers - he'd just have to provide The Audience with entertainment down the line. The Audience knows what 'payoff' means after all!

He's the quintessential cryptic man. He'd probably greet Neuro with "Ohhhhh, so you're the devil detective from the underworld who grows less powerful with the passage of time on earth, has access to seven hundred, seventy-seven tools..." and so on, giving the Devil Detective his complete biography to unnerve him. Then if he felt like it would entertain The Audience more to see him lose he'd go down like a feather. If he felt like winning he'd go "And since I know all your secrets...I have power over you now. Ta-ta!", and kill Neuro with his own trick.

This is more or less the thoughts I had when I said The Host would win, as a matter of fact. There's four different characters in this division where the argument of The Host jobbing would make more sense. With Neuro not so much, because he's so similar to the Abstracts the Host uses as pawns for a dread game.

True. What I meant is that The Audience who knows The Host would probably see this as a repeat. There were no supernatural detectives in CC, but there were a bunch of supernatural sadists and some normal ones who were rather similar. Hence the comment - more of the same.

and despite being the worst of the lot, he still doesn't look that bad to what else is in there. have you seen it.
Mostly because he's funnier. I'm pretty sure he's stronger and would clean the clocks of guys like Sarda and Darsh (and be cheered while doing so), before losing to, like...Seiya or something.

Honestly not trying to be a grump, but I don't find anything about him funny.
